Quote from jtr99 :I take it Champ cars are a bit more powerful than the current Formula V8 then? Any other major differences from the FV8 besides horsepower?

Yeah "safety" is a pretty weak-sauce excuse. A-pillars on your car have got to be way more vision-obstructing.

Quote from Jamexing :Its team(driver, mechanics, technicians, engineers...) and technology in F-1.

Yup. None of which we have in LFS, so...

I mean--excepting drivers!

+1 I'd like to see one in LFS. Push to pass and all.

F1 similar to champ? :uglyhamme

P.S. if they WERE you could actually race them together anyway, and that's not a bad thing in LFS...

Like, totally.

Quote from p1u :4) GTR has good engine sounds (not generated mid junk=P)

I'd say the exact opposite.

However, GTR has more sounds and LFS needs more sounds sooner or later.

Cool

...but they forgot to sand the paint off.

Android, Krane: he means whoever makes them could be putting bad words in and submitting them to the devs who couldn't tell.

I think I'll make an American translation for the heck of it.

there was a video that went with it? =o

I'm surprised no one's linked to that BRM Type 15 MKII supercharged 1496cc 135º V-16 mp3 as they are so wont. The mic is in the pits and you can hear the car the whole way around the track.

I'd expect more sounds in S3.

Heheh *remembers Kimi's big last-lap flat-spot suspension failure that happened last year*

True, but in the context... of bumping into people...

And well... drivers make cars make tires make cars blow up.

Quote from RacingSimFan :yes in fact I did and the point I was making was that, IMO, if you want punishment for car damage, the tire modelling does give you that in some instances.

O RLY?

cars make tires blow up, not the other way around

Quote from XCNuse :@wark, its somewhat simple, you have the headers which bring down the exhaust to the pipes which turns into the first muffler where a catalyst removes "bad" polutions, then down the rest of the way bending to get out of the way of... other things, then you have the 2nd muffler which is i believe usually used to cancel out sounds (or enhance), then you got the tip

yeh, i realize tips refer to all of the post-muffler pipe. just too used to calling those last chromed four inches on trucks the tips.

nevertheless, exhaust tips are rarely longer than a few inches... that's why they're called tips in the first place. =P

google image search for exhaust tips and see if you find anything like the FZ50's... Uhmm

p.s. great looking v8 =] what are you putting it in?

I'd prefer the current exhausts were just made smaller, rounder (oval pipes??); generally less obnoxious. I recall the peasants revolting when the current look was introduced.

If you look under the car it's a little bit more than tips we're talking about.

Quote from Scawen :No... wherever the coordinated time would be, the international dateline must be 180 degrees (12 hours) away from it, on the other side of the world.

So, as the time measurement centre is on the line running through Greenwich, the international dateline is on the line running through Fiji. So you can stand on that line in Fiji with half your body in one day and half your body in the next day.

Ah. Makes sense.

Why isn't it at the international dateline now?

Tradition. ;p

Quote from Tailspin :It DOES NOT mean 'get out of the way!' It means, in essence, 'be predictable--you're being overtaken.' In fact, the OVERTAKING CAR is responsible for avoiding an accident.

Says who?

Well, I think the FIA's rules are usually a pretty good standard.

Quote from lalathegreat :In my opinion LFS suffers from the fact that it has so little cars. its a seriuous turn off. And most of them in the same class can't Run against each other. makes me feel its a waste of a physics engine.

Buy S2... I don't see what good waiting will do you, unless you're planning on not buying it if it isn't much different from the current version. Hell, a lot of people seem to think it's worth it as is.

A lot of people would also rather that the devs spent more time on new cars to fix the phenomenon you're complaining of instead of some feature which would only be welcomed by a minority.

Needs the little 'bi-plane' winglets on the front wing, because those were always there.

Also, I doubt they will be getting rid of the viking horns/antlers any time soon if McLaren's had them for so long.

Quote from Forbin :Blasphemy. I see no reason why bikes shouldn't be included. It's merely yet another form of (legitimate) racing.

Bikes... because I love them too much to ruin with a computer simulation.

Quote from lalathegreat :There many performance aspects to setups aswell just because u like it dosent mean its Fast. Everyone is ajusting to what they feel is good.

the same concept can be applied to an Engine aswell. some people people may like and engine with a a strong low End thought it might not be the fastest.

Yeah, but it might be fastest for them. And sometimes you go blazing fast before you crash, but that never helps in the long run.

Quote from lalathegreat :Give me an example of how Driving Styles play a role in setups.

Any opinion on what gives better performance is style.

Brakes: Some people use less engine braking and thus a differing brake balance; some people like to be able to floor it whenever they want to without locking up, while others prefer the ability to get closer to the limit at any given time.

G/R: () Some people choose not to use all 5 or 6 gears on a given track; some people choose to have a very tall first gear so that the rest of them can be closer.

Suspension: As mentioned, the most obvious is how over/understeery one prefers the setup; some people are driftier on the rally courses; some prefer to go the full race distance without any damage to the suspension or front spoiler, so they will drive with a taller ride height.

Downforce: Some people are braver than others; also balance.

Traction Control: Again, some are braver.

Differentials: Some expect different things from their differential; some are braver in this regard as well.

Tires: Some may prefer to baby a set of softer tires rather than rely on harder rubber.

Steering: Some people would never use full lock, and others would use more if they could--especially in rally courses where one might get his tail a little too loose.

You probably have a different driving style from your grandmother. The generic "grandmother" would probably opt for a set which differed from yours.

Quote from lalathegreat :am not asking for a free for all no limits. just because you can change power levels of cars dosent mean you cannot have Equal Racing. i would love to have the ability to race with 600HP GTR cars and not just one power level over and over. it dosent mean Everyone cannot be on the same level.
Changing the power Levels Changes the whole Dynamics of a race, racing lines, braking points, pit strategy, it keeps the racing fresh.

So just use less gas and when you want to pretend you've got your more powerful, tuned engine, floor it.

This is what different cars are for.

And just how are we supposed to surmise this on our own with absolutely no help from you?

heheh...

No, really, first thing that jumps into mind when I see PR is "public relations." Not everyone shares your train of thought.
