Quote from DEVIL 007 :Its the same 50 percent rule for kick? Doesnt the rule apply for all people on the server?I think it should apply for the people acutally racing and people who just spectate shouldnt be involved.Dunno whats the best way to have it done most effective.

I was on the same server is NIKI yesterday and we couldnt get kick someone because the kick voting ended always at something like 19/21 or 17/21 etc.The racing was really nice but without option to kick such a people the fun was destroyed.I think NIKI can confirms it.

I can confirm that too, and I second the idea of only racers can vote and there are 50% needed (with the needed 16, we would have been able to get rid of you know I'm talking about ).

And the votes didnt stay on long enough, due to disconnecting etc.

Besides that, I had sometimes the prob, that I hit Shift+R quite often before I actually voted. Sometimes there was written "restart" in the middle of the screen, but I didnt vote, then vote canceled. Same for using Shift+P.

This often happens in the end of a race with a lot of chatting/pitting going on. That seems to block some votes/pitting from people.

seems like selfownage becomes common here :P

Quote from AndroidXP :If anyone's feeling nostalgic: click

Hahahaha, uberpwnage!!! Soro, as I said already: go back to start, learn about LFS Development again, and then come back. Basically Everything you posted has been answered, is clear etc. etc. And Scawen wont give detailed infos on what will be in etc., cause that simply can change. Like a Patch release date can change too.

Quote from Speed Soro :I'd like to know if LFS is good as it is, cause if Scawen stop studing and working on the simulation, the logic tell me that this part of the game is ready.

Is it good at this stage?

Because for months and months I've heard that this bs of infinites resources has been necessary to make the game stronger, consistent and free of bugs.

In fact I can imagine that each time you filled a software with bs, it becomes weak, dangerous and unstable... ok, this is not the real fact with LFS, cause it is still a game with great stability, even being a DX8 based game in the ages of DX10...

But the big question is: is this the big simulator ever? I think that it is in the mind of the majority of this community, and maybe in the dev's heads too, cause I can't see nobody concerning when or how the things will be made to better perform a real simracing.

Where is the oil heating, brake waste, and water boiling?

Will people lose the engine when reducing from 6th to 2nd in a half second?

Will the aerodynamic be seriously calculated and performed?

Will we be able to step at 20 kmh on the grass without skid?

Will the cars stop flying 30m above when soft touch a wall or other car?

No, this is not thread "WHEN". I don't really want to know when. I just ask for a "WILL"...

go back to stage one, and read again about LFS development before asking BS questions:

LFS physics isnt finished, LFS gfx isnt finished, LFS netcode isnt finished.

It's just in a stage, where you could say this is Stage 2 on the way to final. The devs wont stop until S3 is reached, and if they stopped, this is not the finished product, but a well working semi-finished one. Most of the community know this, and give a shit on the questions you ask, cause they know it WILL change and be added in the future.

Mission of useful thread creation: failed.

I encourage everyone to download the hires version. All those little details shine there extraordinary.

This is IMHO one of the best - if not the best - LFS video ever! Congratulations! I just had to embed it in my blog...

Quote from Scawen :Is that really true? If that is true, then clearly LFS must be very far behind all the other sims by now. But I don't feel it is.

I think that when you work with a large team, you can sometimes progress at a good rate, for some time, as long as there is a lot of good morale in the company (and that is not a consistent thing). But later, as different people's code gets interwoven with other people's, and some others leave the company, and the new guy can't see what's what, and redevelops his section from scratch, and some things can't be updated because they affect too many areas and the company needs to call meetings all the time to try to figure out what's going on... finally they aren't progressing so fast any more.

Sometimes game development houses can actually go backwards. They can work on something for two years and what they have at the end is worse than what they started with. It's very hard to see how LFS can go backwards, because there aren't any other programmers to leave. And that's why LFS continues to go forwards while the development of other games and sims can sometimes just slow down or stop.

I do think, the only part where LFS could improve speed of development is content in terms of cars and tracks. Cause designing with given tools, especially texturing, is a work of Art which can be done by a crafted person and overlooked by some group-boss (would mean Eric changing way of working ).

Code to be done by a single person - with some help here and there - is imho a very good solution for clean, almost bugfree and working code.

Quote from Worm :Hello racers,

If i understand correctly, it will be impossible to beat WR online coz of handicaps? That s crazy.

And, imagine people who train offline for a race. When the race start their setup are not set for this handicap system...

I m really shock about that.

How about you add the weight in your setup, when you train offline? No problem to do that, you just have to do it YOURSELF!

Sometimes I wonder if people read everything right, switch on their brain.....

Quote from sinbad : Scawen is able to do these things, such as skin-downloads and increasing the grid size, car balancing etc which in all honesty are not going to sell any extra licenses directly and so won't make them any money.

no. As long as the number of sold GPL copies isnt reached in sold
LFS licenses they will always have a constant flow of new licenses. GPL selling numbers is a good look at the worldwide sim-community and almost everyone of them will get LFS sooner or later just to have the collection of Sims.
So LFS will, and that's also due to it's ongoing support and development, reach that number sooner or later imho. From that point on, every additional license is a bonus OR means, LFS is just great also for others

Here you can have a short look, what happens when all the european PRO LFS guys do a qualifying session for their first time in the testpatch:

Oh, and due to the new starts there is a bit more packing in front of t1...

Sooo, if you are not PRO, you have the best excuse for t1 wreckage with that vid enjoy

Quote from NotAnIllusion :Nobody pays for skins. Some people choose to pay for better quality skins. I don't see the problem.

and those who dont pay, DL them here or from friends and put them in their skins folder. Which actually gives better quality, cause I dont like the .dds compression at all. Gives to many artifacts.

Today's race is run on W17 for the first time. And we have a LFS TV host running too. So anyone who likes, can try to watch it

Edit: sry, replays changed in testpatches, therefor LFS TV isnt working. If you want to follow, you need to use "progress" on LFSworld.net

a flatspot you should only feel on the slicks. streettires doesnt wear that heavily.

Besides that the tirediameter decreases with wear, that's pretty nice modelled, the cars get lower with racetime (GTRs best example to feel). Even in OpenWheelers IRL you dont really feel flatspots, only when they really get huge (Kimi anyone?). So in the possibilities of LFS engine, it's imho very well done atm.

Quote from Rayo : Cuz as it is right now with LFS theres like a lot of leagues and not really one league where the best of the best race.

I think you are wrong wtih that. There are atm two leagues where you meet the best and fastest racers. And those are MoE and ESCC. Well, on the other hand, you are right. We miss the americans there, due to the timeshifts.

On Topic: I think, the stcc system is a nice league/ladder system but it is totally selfmade and additional, and therefor should stay where it is. Outside LFS. Else, the supportwork etc. for LFS crew would grow immense, becky prolly would need to get hired by LFS, it'll slow down development of LFS. etc. etc. This is NOT negative about stcc, it's just a realistic pov, and I also enjoy driving on stcc servers, and do hope becky keeps that stuff running.

Quote from deggis :I remember "we could be interested but he's doing so well" line or something like that when Vykos (!?) had asked about hiring Scawen from some SimBin dev.

And LFS is not really a complete package, to sell engine you need all the dev tools and stuff.

Just to clear some stuff up: When Ian Bell was at simbin, released GTR1, I met him twice and we also talked about LFS. And all he said was: He wanted to hire the "guys" but they werent interested, neither in working with/for him nor in selling their engine. And IMHO that's just great to know
