Thanks Speedy! Yes, guys, please stick to using English (or post in both English and your local language). Translating everything is a chore.
Will give it a few more days; hopefully more people will make a post.
Deserving racers will be contacted via the forum's private messaging system (the voucher code will be sent as a PM). If I see the driver online, I'll pop in give a reminder to check PMs.
---
Sponsors: Would anyone like to sponsor vouchers? At least a single £12 voucher? If you identify someone who you think deserves a license get in touch with me (to see if myself or someone else has sent the driver in question a voucher) and you can buy and PM the voucher code to the driver youself.
Well then, give the money to a friend or relative who can buy you S2 via paypal, which is quite easy. If you've got the money the rest of it surely can't be that hard.
Any special reason why they wont let you buy S2? Not fan of internet shopping or do they think you'd be spending far too much time on LFS? The latter is true - so dont buy S2 if you've got exams etc. coming up!
Oh come on. S2 is pocket money compared to a G27. Either save up for a few weeks - a dollar here and a dollar there and you'll get there. Thats how I saved up for my S2 few years ago!
[Inactive] Win a £12 voucher code! (Demo to S1 or S1 to S2 license upgrade)
Hello! You can now stand a chance to win a £12 upgrade voucher to either upgrade your license from demo to S1 or S1 to S2.
However, due to the sheer number of LFSF's dearest trolls and licensed users with multiple accounts I've decided to set a few not-so-simple selection criteria. Please note that simply meeting the criteria would not guarantee a voucher and I might give away to one who don't meet the requirement, but who I think is close enough to deserve it. The user's in-game reputation and forum reputation might be taken into consideration by myself.
Anyway, if you are a demo- or S1-licensed racer with a good reputation and meet the following criteria, make a post below along with a line or two about why you deserve to win a voucher.
Decent reputation
Driven over 30000 miles (50000 km approx.) online
Finished more than 1000 races
Uploaded at hotlap to LFSW which should be within 107% of WR
Active player (if you've played a lot in 2005 and haven't touched since, you might not stand a chance)
Multiple upgrade vouchers may be given away at my discretion. And I'd rather give out a couple of £12 vouchers to two people as opposed to one £24 voucher for one person.
Feel free to pass the word.
There is no closing date yet, but its likely to run for several weeks. Winners will be sent the voucher code via LFSForum PM. I will amend this post (and thread title) when the competition comes to a close or where appropriate. The criteria are not hard and fast, and might be changed without notice.
Sponsors - like the competition criteria and would like to sponsor voucher(s)?:
If you identify someone who you think deserves a license, get in touch with me (to check if myself or someone else has sent the driver in question a voucher) and you can buy and PM the voucher code to the driver youself.
tl;dr? Dedicated demo/S1 racers stand a chance to win a £12 voucher!
Competition is currently On-Hold, but please feel free to make a post if you think you meet the above criteria. If you ARE financially capable of buying yourself a voucher but ain't doing it for whatever reason - please don't bother posting!
If a user would like to sponsor a voucher or two, please get in touch.
Thank you for taking part. Special thanks to CheerioDM, The Very End, dawesdust_12, GAVD999, ComaBuba and others for sponsoring vouchers!
Well, you could've hyped it up before the release - that would've ensured that there would be [hopefully] a significant ammount on opening night; if the racing was good the word would spread and soon catch up.
Anyway, good job on getting it running; now need to advertise a bit and get a decent base of drivers every day/weekends. Just a suggestion as I think, for starters, that currently there is not enough drivers to fill all those servers. And if they're spread around the servers it'll be only a handful on each (I'm assuming - of course I would be wrong here). Would it be worth to suggest a special night for each of the weekdays for one server in particular?
i.e. On Mondays and Thrusdays its TBO/LRF/LX4 (PR Road 2) "event time" from GMT 1800-2200. On Tuesday its XFG/XRG (PR Road 1) same time. No need to set speicifc track; whatever config that you got now is fine - just focusing on a class per day so that a decent turnout could be expected.
Lately a number of servers have popped up but not caught on as expected - spdo's GTi server or NDR's Klub Racing - which is a shame...
Also; I got the "Your initial safety rating was set to : 50,00%" on both PR Road 1 and 2; does the servers have a seperate SR, one which is not shared across all servers (like in cargame.nl servers)?
I'm kind of too busy for LFS these days; or I'd sit in on a server all day luring drivers in hehe. Let me know if I can be of any help...
I think that looks rather good! You can improve it by using some of the stuff that's available for the skinners.
JazzOn's tutorial on logo-resizing is quite important to make sure that logos that you place dont turn out stretched (this is due to the way the skin is wrapped around the car body). Have a look in the thread to see how you make the logos turn out better.
Since you'll be spending more than few minutes making a skin - why not do a hi-res version? It'll look much better ingame. So rather than a 1024x1024 skin file, work with 2048x2048 or higher.
You can use the Master-Skinnerz skin kits to make skinning easier. The downloadable .psd files (can be opened with GIMP too) are layered - so its much easier to "paint" specific parts, add logos and texts.
You can always make skins for S1/S2 cars - you can start to use them when you buy a license (and S2's only £24; and its the best £24 you'll ever spend!).
Looking forward to seeing more skins from you; good luck!
PS: You can use ctrl+s to take screenshots from the CMX viewer (just like in LFS). The screenshots will be saved in the viewer's data/shots folder.
I'm pretty sure a number of people here use W7 64 to run LFS without any problems. It might be a number of problems relating to your sound drivers/operating system - but the chances are it might be something simple that you are overlooking... (something like the shift+n).
Before you head off to rF (!) you can try downloading and installing LFS again and see if it works. You never know...
Since LFS is not throwing the sound not innitialising error, it might be that LFS somehow muted or something. In the volume mixer (if there is one in W7) check and see if LFS is muted by any chance?
I'm out of ideas; I hope you'll be able to sort it out soon!
Ahem, the X number of licensed racers statement in LFS is a bit misleading. If you turn off the cruise filter you'll find where some of those licensed drivers are at (obviously the licensed racers online value includes all the cruisers).
Although not quite sure where the cargame.nl GT2 racers ran off to.
