Use the "contact us" link in the footer to write an email to the devs. It'll be intercepted by the LFS administrator who will take action on it. They are very efficient and will get it sorted out very quickly.

I have done this before for the removal of offensive skins, so I would assume the same would go for usernames too.

Would it be possible to in-sim a Capture The Flag mechanic, do you think?

Point: The LFS forum is not mobile-responsive in mobile browsers.

Porting the game-engine to another OS is obviously NOT what is being discussed here. TechEdison is talking about the web content - this content that you are viewing right here - being difficult to view on a mobile device's browser.

I'm not sure why TWDK trying to derail this discussion with constant off-topic posts, as TechEdison is 100% correct, and has even submitted a potential fix.

oh, and FYI since 2015, more people access the internet through their mobile devices than through desktop machines. The last time I checked figures (I used to work for a mobile development company) in 2017, the ratio was 2 mobile users to every desktop user and still climbing.

I like this idea - it'll make it so much easier to apply makeup while I drive.

What you are basically saying is; you don't like AC or GTA or R-factor, but you'd like it if LFS was more like those games?

Adding everything you have requested here will simply reduce LFS to the same slow, bloated, resource-hungry pigs that games like AC and R-factor have become.

Not keen.

The reason that there are motorsport rules is so that there are measures that can be implemented to determine the cause of the incident and attribute responsibility to a particular driver without having to negotiate any grey areas.

In ALM's server, if there is an altercation between two drivers, the admin would have to apply racing rules to the situation in order to come to a fair decision, so the claim of 'no rules other than not to crash or disturb others' wouldn't be entirely true anyway...

I had to open up my wheel to fix a cracked G-clamp, so I thought I'd chuck some metallic purple paint at it while it was apart.

My real forte is post-apoc junker tech style, but it's interesting to do a 'nice' paintjob from time to time. Later in the week I'm going to see if I can find some RC car stickers to finish it off.

Anyone else here customising their peripherals?

A couple of squirts of contact cleaner into the potentiometer might also work.

Remember back in the day with your 640x480 monitor and then Syndicate came out and it ran at 800x600 and then diablo came along and that looked cool at 1024x768 and then Unreal Tournament looked, well, unreal at 1280x1024 ... now imagine going straight from 640x480 to 1280x1024 in one go ... that's what 1080p to 2160p is like.

Quote from Racon :What I want, ideally, is for someone to capture the stig, strap him into a chair for a couple of hours of multiple car types on each sim, and then get his ratings on tyre physics.

this. they could do a whole episode on this. spots throughout a season. it would be mean.

[ontopic] LFS "feels" good, but if what they were saying about the differences in that German car's sim to reality comparison were anything to go by, it might be about to get even harder on average.

Wreckfest

Just recently came out of early access on Steam.

PROS
  • Amazing damage model
  • Astounding Environmental object physics
  • Sweet graphics
  • Simple UI
  • Fun career mode progression unlocks upgrades
  • Good range of vehicles to choose from
  • Hilarious carnage
  • Accessible multiplayer servers
  • Not getting banned for deliberate crashing.
CONS
  • Steering suffers from a bit of input lag*
  • No qualifying means you're almost always starting from the back
  • Too many buses in Multiplayer (some servers do switch off the special vehicle option though...)
  • No VR support
  • Not enough lawnmower racing servers
  • You will need a good amount of processing power to get the most from this game.
*This could be because my graphics settings are set to max everything for now. A bit of tweaking might be necessary to achieve performance gains.

Auto-downloading customised signage texture maps
Shirtkicker

How difficult would it be to have one or two sets of the standard trackside signage that could be customised with the team logos and server details of the host that would be downloaded on entry to the server in the same way that the car skins are?

Trackside advertising would be a far more effective form of communication than the server messages that come through chat, while adding a personalised feel to the multiplayer experience.

Quote from MKRYDR :people don't really like using copyright images and stuff on skins.

It happens all the time, and it really only becomes a problem if people are trying to make money from other people's intellectual property. I don't think anyone has ever said no to free advertising...

Quote from kars19 :And tire physicsFrown

It got an update a few months ago - a lot of the oval races became much more interesting, as you now need to drive the car through the corners instead of foot-to-the-floor all the way... As a result, a lot of the 'kiddies' stopped trying to race anywhere other than Daytona.
Air Attack junior team - Air Support - now officially recruiting
Shirtkicker
S3 licensed

Air Attack have formed a junior team to make joining an established racing team more accessible for the less experienced drivers in LFS. Our aim is to introduce new users to the rules system of motorsport competition, and gradually grow their knowledge of the Airio administration system to the point where they can be promoted to the main Air Attack Racing Team.

You should have at least 300 laps done on Air Attack servers (shown by !pi command while on an AA server) and a safety rating (!rt) of at least 75%. Your PB isn't important - that's something we can work on together.

Register on the Air Attack Forum and confirm your details to get started, and then carefully read the application guidelines and our team's Code of Conduct thoroughly before starting your application thread in the appropriate section. Your ability to meet the requirements and follow the simple directions contained in these threads is the first test of your suitability for the team.

From there, the amount of interaction and contribution to the team, as well as demonstrating a good understanding of rules and systems, will determine how quickly you graduate through the levels of Air Support - from basic kick/ban/inactivity immunity, through to becoming a full AA member, to becoming a high-level administrator - there are many possibilities open to you.

We hope to see you there soon!
