Weather would be SO awesome.. More cars and tracks =
With the new physics coming, all I'm waiting for after that is a 24-hour scheme and weather.

Major d/c'ing is happening on the (FM) FOX Junkies server.. Might be Z21/22 related?

I don't feel like driving LFS a lot currently with the upcoming new physics. I'm on occasionally though, but yeah I'm from Europe so

Dry weather tomorrow hopefully
Well, it's been dry here for a while now so why not

Why move from Rotax Max, it's such an awesome and reliable engine ^^ Not THE fastest engine, but very well known and widely used
Oh yeah, and so cheap because no modding is allowed.

My advice is trying to join a team of other drivers If you can find other like-minded people, hopefully even some who have a bit of experience to help you get started, it will be so much easier financially and maybe technically.

I recently joined my 'team', really experienced mechanic and his son who is competing (and almost winning) in the national league. And I can feed off their experience

Hey, cool that you got into karting it's an awesome sport
No doubt once you get into it lots of your money goes towards it, though I'm not so much a 'gadget' guy but those tyres sure get used up fast

And hours upon hours can be used to find the perfect setup, although I have a very experienced mechanic who has all that down.
Especially my engine seems to be hard to work out, these Rotax engines are REALLY weak in the bottom end and can easily die if you don't get the carburetor right.

Well, staying near the RPM where the engine produces the maximal torque is probably the best way to go. This will allow you to accelerate at a good rate without straining the engine, with minimal throttle.
Keeping the right speed is important too..

Quote from RevengeR :0 will give you linear steering, not 1.0. Can't imagine how can people drive with anything above 0, it just feels so wrong...

I drive with 1.0, and 900 degrees of rotation. With 0, I have 900 degrees of rotation for ALL cars, while most cars I drive only have 400 or something like that. With 1.0 compensation, my wheel always corresponds to the ingame wheel.

So this happens only while braking in reverse, on cars with trailing-arm or multilink suspension on the rear axle??
RasmusL

I don't think it matters which brake you use in terms of weight transfer? AFAIK the hand brake is simply activating the rear brakes, whether they are drum or disc.

Oops sorry yeah, it increases with the square of the velocity

Quote from tristancliffe :
And even if it IS as low as 0.25, then that's aero alone. Without any engine braking. If you honestly think that lifting in gear at 160km/h drops you 1km/h/s then you are mistaken or lying.

True, at speeds like that you will see a quite fast drop in speed from aero alone, even with a car that has a low frontal area and drag coefficient.
I didn't consider we were talking about speeds this high Remember that drag force goes up exponentially with velocity.

Well, braking while going forward WILL result in what happens in LFS:

I don't see the problem?

I can't find a video in reverse, and I'm not about to go out and try it now ^^

Well, a Toyota Prius has a Cd of 0.25, and some cars like Opel Vectra has 0.3.. So he might be ABOUT right.

I don't know what your problem is exactly, but if it's simply oversteer turning into a corner, perhaps you're going just a tad too fast.. I'm not really good in FWD cars, but that's what I've experienced. Throttle cures oversteer too, of course
And why is your turn compensation set to .85? Setting it to 1.0 gives you linear steering.

I think you're looking at something the wrong way, because it's done correctly in LFS. The 'lift' or what you want to call it, is weight transfer. When braking, weight transfers to the way you are travelling.
So when reversing the weight will shift to the front of the car which will push down on the front and pull up the back, and when braking it will shift to the back.

Well for real tracks they could be tied together with the current weather for that track.
Another option is to let the server either choose the weather manually, or be able to link it to the weather anywhere (several services can be used to gather that information).

Quote from tristancliffe :No, I just don't see the point of spending time making a night mode that would be better spent making a complete day/night & weather system that would be far better in the long term.

I think this is what most people want. A complete 24 hour cycle, with adjustable time multiplier, for a lack of a better word.

Actually changing weather would be completely awesome for pickup racing.. Having only a few laps, do you pit for rain tyres or do you go on with your slicks and hope for the best
