Absolutely not, the blue is fabulous.

How did graphics come to be involved in this thread all of a sudden? It's about tyre physics. Maybe I missed something but don't think I saw anyone mention anything about LFS' graphics until Tristan brought it up out of the blue? What's that about? Besides, you're wrong, and BBT is right.

Quote from scania :If we know it, it will be easier to guess what the new car in S3 is

How so? Who holds the rights to the Rockingham track has nothing to do with what car the devs are planning on introducing. I fail to see how the two are connected. You have a track on one hand, and a car on the other... two different things

Quote from sinbad :Does the in-game-wheel then turn as far as you are turning the wheel in your hands? If so, why can't the in-game-wheel just do that anyway?

No, it makes no difference, but I just find that it feels incredibly weird to use the cockpitview with anything other than a wheel Just my opinion.

I don't have an Xbox wheel, by the way. So I don't use the cockpitview

Cockpitview only works if you play it with a wheel IMO

Quote from nightojnr :thanks guys nice feedback, is there a step to step guide how to add add ons into the game and how to add templates and do your own skins anywhere?

"Add ons" are generally very easy to "install". You usually just replace some files, and that's it. You'll find guidelines on how to do it in each add on's seperate thread, normally, and otherwise just ask, you'll get your answer in no time.

For skinning you can take a look here. You'll need Photoshop or Gimp or some other decent image editing software, though. You can then download the skin kits which are basically just templates. You edit the image the way you want to, save it as a .jpg and put it in the skins folder and voila, presto. You also have to upload the skin to LFSWorld if you want others to see it, but that's pretty self explanatory as well.

Really, just look around a bit yourself and you'll find what you're looking for. These things shouldn't be relevant to make your decision on whether to buy a license or not, as it's all really very simple.

I fiddled around with this some time ago, but as far as I can tell there is no way to do this without having to ALT+TAB out of LFS, so I dropped the whole thing. ALT+TAB'ing out of any game is a big no no for me, no matter if it causes problems or not. I just don't want to have to do it

If you're okay with it, then I don't think you should look any further, as you already have the solution, don't you? What I did was just have the different .reg files on my desktop. Double clicking them - and then confirming - would change the wheel's rotation settings, so that's it. Unless I'm missing something here and you are trying to accomplish something different/more.

Quote from aoun :If you want raw, good feedback for a wheel, LFS will be far better then rFactor.

I agree with everything said in this thread so far, except with this statement. That is just a lie. It is no secret that LFS' FFB and the general feel is very bland and sterile and actually leagues behind rFactor, nKp and I'm guessing iRacing as well. I'm willing to bet my money that you haven't tried getting to know some quality rFactor mods, 'cause if you had then you wouldn't make such a bold - and false - statement.

But to answer the OP's question, LFS is definitely better value for money, no question about it

Quote from rally.bua :apropos soft-stops: would be great if they were a bit harder

Yeah, the soft stops on the G25 are a bit... well... soft In single seaters and GTR cars (I use rather strong FFB in those cars) I usually don't even feel them.

I'm wondering Migz, what kind of motorbikes were you and your friend riding? 'Cause when a car tried to do something like that to me - pull alongside me and push me to the side - I would just give the loud handle a little twist and off I am. Which leads me to believe that you were indeed on a 50cc moped (I refuse to call that a motorbike), in which case it's retarded to even attempt catching a car.

And I gotta agree, if you crash into the back of a car you're almost always going to be in the wrong. No matter if he slams on the brakes for no reason. You should always keep a safe distance That's not to say I don't understand your initial reaction, though, but that's just the way it is.

Quote from James79 :Go on then you still havent said why i am banned from your server

He banned you 'cause you smell funny. Happy now? It won't make any difference. No one is gonna hate PVL, and no one is gonna feel sorry for you.

Also, why someone spends money on a racing sim just to use it for crashing I don't understand but... to each his own

Hate it, and it's a shame some bands give into it because it really ruins an album.

EDIT:
Quote from george_tsiros :why did you skip over what i said? i said clearly that the music i listen to (and play) is all flat out balls to the wall. you can understand from that, that it doesn't have any dynamics to speak of.

Going by what you say I'd say the "music" you listen to and play doesn't really qualify as "music" then. In which case it, indeed, makes no difference. You got me curious, though, as to which genre it is that you listen to. If you say "metal" I'm gonna stab you in the face.

Quote from mvp2014 :Thanks for the info. no i am using a wired connection, but do u thing changing the CAT 5 cable to a CAT 6 would help?

No, CAT5 is just fine. As said multiple times before, the problem probably lies in the server's latency. Try joining a US based server with a good ping and see if that makes any difference.

Quote from G!NhO :So you call the rewind thing realistic?

Way to pick on something that isn't relevant at all Nowhere did he say that Forza is more realistic. But if you wanna go that route (again, for the quadrillionth time)...

You think driving your car into a concrete wall at 100+mph and not having a scratch on it is realistic?

Right... my point is, enough with those stupid petty arguments already, we've been there before.

EDIT: I also agree with mutt in that you can't judge the physics in the Forza 3 demo without actually playing it. There's no argument about the graphics, even a blind man can see that GT takes that crown.

How would you take screenshots anyway? I haven't seen any option to do that

I got bored of the two-lap race pretty quickly. It's a shame you can't set the number of laps yourself. The loading times also seem to be a bit on the long side, IMO.

And to be honest, I hope it looks a lot better on a full HD tv than it does on mine because this demo looks nothing like all the teasers by any stretch of the imagination For me, anyways.

Quote from Dajmin :Is the damage model turned on in the demo?

Yes, it's enabled. Looks the same as it did in FM2 as far as I can tell, but then again I haven't really crashed much yet.

Alright, did two races in the Mini Cooper (I like slower cars :shrug and then the batteries in my controller died (recharging now). I'm not gonna review the handling because I haven't driven enough for that, and I can't judge the graphics 'cause on my TV it looks pretty much the same as FM2 (no HD, or even a flatscreen so yeah).

As I'd expected the cockpitview just doesn't feel right to me, so I won't be using it.

The rewind feature definitely comes in handy

What I'm wondering the most right now is if it's really that much faster to use the manual clutch. I say it's something we should test online, in 2 identical cars, one with manual clutch and the other with auto, and just do a straight sprint going through the gears.

I don't know if it's something I could get used to, though. Shifting up works well enough, but shifting down while braking seems a bit difficult for me I'm used to pulling the left trigger with my index finger, but if I'm gonna downshift under braking that means I must use my middlefinger for the brake instead, and my index for the clutch, and right now that doesn't work very well
