Quote from Scawen :That is something I want to do.

And that's definitely something that I want to see. Smile

I agree that a rev limiter can be a nice addition (not a high priority tho), because hard locking to the red line is really unrealistic.

Thanks for the progress report ! Keep it up ! Smile

Quote from Scawen :That'll be fun to release and see a few people getting annoyed that we improved the frame rate again! Big grin

This made me laugh way more than I should. Big grin

Quote from cargame.nl :Extremism? I think it's more extreme to go to a different forum/website and continuously talking about some other game. It's like owning a Renault and going to the BMW forum and saying that you have so much more buttons on your car and that BMW -needs- to create that too otherwise you never buy BMW (again). Despite most buttons are totally useless.

Bro, what the f*ck ? It's not about AC, it's just an example to explain that having a better team to have more content (and why not real content) and better graphics can be a really good addition to the game we all love.

Quote from tvrtkocro28 :Yes I do have it ,I cracked LFS , happy ?

Yes.

Quote from tvrtkocro28 :You dont know my situation .. Mybe I dont have money to buy the game . What i did to you ?

Too easy, heard it a bit too much. Maybe it's true, but if you have cracked the game, even if it's because you don't have money, you are absolutely not in right to ask for content for stuff that you cracked. Play your cracked and VOB modded game if you want, but don't come to the forums to express it. Thanks.

But LFS team can do much better than AC team if they where the same number, and LFS has a very nice netcode, it not AC at all. ^^

Quote from lfsrm :Eric can take the role of the artists group leader, the one who care about the work integration into the game engine, because he's used to work with the tools needed for LFS.

Integration means programming, adding IA paths, configurations, track in the track menu, compute path selection, etc. and I think this is on Scawen's scope.

Quote from MadCatX :[long post]

I can't agree more with you. Smile

Quote from lfsrm :IMO what LFS really need now, is 2 or 3 artistes to update existing contenent and bring new one, to get new players and make them occupied with that until scawen will finish the imporvement of the core game, if you look at other small indi studios the majore part of the team are graphics artistes, and only one or two people have to deal with the core game development ( juste like LFS ), because the 3d work is the longest process in game development especialy when you aim to make something big.

This. I'm a game developer, and I totally agree with that, but there is a limit for it too. LFS needs more artists, but not too much, because Scawen need to integrate their work, and it takes time. And don't forget that right now, Scawen is working on several things just so Eric can work on higher quality tracks, so imagine if there is 3 artists on the team. Big grin'

TL;DR : For me, LFS needs more artists, but not sure if Scawen can handle intergration + improvement on the game + new/improved tools for artists.

@Scawen : What do you think about it ? I need your answer (and I know you are following the thread, as usual Big grin).

Love it, it gave me my dose of speed for today, same for me, impossible to go further than 349/348 km/h with BF1, you should try to inclinate turns for v3, so we have faster corner exits. Wink

So, let's say LFS need to use the texture BWnewroad.dds to use it with new shaders for tracks. My idea is to make LFS search for BWnewroadNORM.dds and BWnewroadSPEC.dds, and load them it they exist. Then, it will just pass thoses textures to the shader (just like any texture), so we can add normal maps and specular maps to LFS.

Why doing this only if thoses textures exists ? To keep usage of texture which don't have thoses, and make cool shaders only for roads, wall and grass.

These, are easy and fast techniques to add graphical detail in game, at no (or nearly no) performance cost.

Normal map :

Specular map (on the right, note how the wood is not shiny everywhere) :

NOTE: normal mapping needs to have tangents and binormals for each vertex in order to be implemented (AFAIK).

Done, here is mine :

NOTE: When LFS is minimised, I have 25% GPU usage while it's at 0% when LFS is in fullscreen.

Hi Lynce,

Actually, I don't really like choses concepts for a website, it makes me think of the old one, which was not practical at all. And maybe some flat design will give it a more recent touch. I'll try to go a quick mockup for a website tomorrow to give you my idea of it. Smile

Quote from cargame.nl :Why not talk about Skylake? Just as realistic as this discussion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_HD_and_Iris_Graphics vs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units => GFLOPS

Conclusion; rubbish.

Actually Haswell's IGP is close to a GTX 750 and I can actually play LFS on my laptop with my HD5000 @ 1366x768 with constant 60 FPS with some cars and Westhill. Wink

Quote from cargame.nl :And I don't like it when people defend Intel by saying that they do a good job because they don't.

How can I defend Intel with recent Skylake announcement ? Big grin
IGP are nice for very light gaming (or LFS, which is really not using GPU), but it dosen't match a mid-end graphics end ATM.

Quote from cargame.nl :Alright, exaggerated, but Intel does a poor job with their graphics "acceleration" business.

I think your updater is a bit broken, it tries to display HTML and there is this white background that ruins it, check screenshot. ^^

Weird, three solutions : wait for an update to the update software, do a clean install, do your researches on the error code.

Quote from DANIEL-CRO :BTW Scawen, now that our FPS increased so much I guess we are ready for some decrease (read: graphics improvements) Big grin

Shadow mapping ? Realtime reflections ? PCSS ? Motion blur ? Scawen, please tell me that your to-do list is full of good things like that (yep, I'm definitly crazy). Big grin
