What floors me is that everyone knows LFS is a "fantasy" based simulator, hence fake track and cars and its worked!

Im not going to go on about how good it is, we all know, but I think all real world car requests should get deleted because they are a waste of time to post and read and flame (depending on the car).

The devs know what they are doing as far as the cars we race and I bet everytime they read a thread request like this they scream at their monitors "GO BACK TO GRAN TURISMO RICE BOY!" I know I do...haha

Looks like we got a battle of the noob racers gonna be happening. haha

Hey, what we should do is pit the top demo racers from the Moo league against the top demo racers from what will soon be the Plexus Cup and see who will win...

Yeh, time differences are always an issue racing online. I remember guys from Australia being up at silly hours just to race an SCGT league I ran. Loved the commitment but completely understood why when they decided not to participate any longer.

What about a league using the same rules and regs for individual regions/time zones; Europe, North America, Australasia, etc. Each region runs on their own races, then after a number of rounds, the winning two drivers from each country race in a one time world event against the top drivers in all the other regions. Ran a search and didnt come up with anything contrete regarding an A1GP league for LFS.

Is there one?

If not, why?

Again, if not, would people be interested in that kind of a league?

IF NOT...I got nothing. Shrug

Im sure Ive seen views like that in a STCC broadcast...but I could be wrong. Good idea if there isnt that view.

As for running from cops in city streets and such, it begins and ends with the GTA series...lets leave it to Rockstar Games for that type of entertainment, lets just race with LFS.

People get into racing because its fun, its a passion, not because they are thinking how much money can be made...I dont see it being any different with the developers of LFS. You put a lot more blood sweat and tears into something when its yours and thats how LFS will be one of the best sims ever created.

Quote from BlackSheep720 :are you for real? geez, we oughta cancel the demo outright. it's not a full-fledged game for christ's sake

I dunno about that. There are some real fast drivers using the demo. Why they havent gotten their S1 or S2 isnt any of my business, but Im sure if they could, they would. But with the fast drivers, there a lot of crap guys out there too.

We need to keep demo racers around and keep their interest because when others move onto other sims or just stop racing, we need to fill those spots. In my opinion, LFS needs to look at demo racers the same way F1 looks towards karting for new upcoming drivers.

Quote from 510N3D :%podium finishes = ((won+second+third) / finished) * 100

20+19+20 / 137 * 100 = 43%

compared to my 77% for example if that is what you actually meant.

Close to some extent as far as i can tell, pure average i would say. Says nothing about you or me at all. I'd say "success rate" is a relative value. Besides, i thought i should get over this facts thing?! You're one strange fella, rly Just stick to your curcuit tracks and enjoy yourself alright? Time will tell if you are a good driver or not but in the end that doesn't really matter, more then that if you enjoyed every single race.

cheers

Well, it was brought up so I made the comparison with my own stats and those of KeiichiRX7, who was at 49%.

I dont suck at LFS, but Im not and never have or will say Im the fastest. And yes, I do enjoy the races most of the time...south city with lots of traffic can be frustrating. I wish I had the time to put in to up my STCC , license, but oh well.

Peace.

Quote from 510N3D :you still do not understand me then, i was not about to insult you in any way, im using the facts i have which are telling me that you cant have the knowledge to make a proper statement. And once again, just trying (doing a couple of laps or so with i dont know what car and people on the track) and doing it professional is something different.

I ran ovals with a kart to start then got some seat time in a dwarf car. And your right between me doing a few laps and not liking it compared to pro drivers...you pay me millions, I'll race snails.

And get over the facts thing, seriously! So explain why with my limted track time with LFS that my success rate is close to someone with 10x's the laps, miles, and wins?

Quote from 510N3D :So you mean insulting others for what they are doing is the right to either step into a conversation and also expect a according response to all this nonsense? Very mature

/unplugged

No no...the responses were justified to my comments, but it went a bit far with telling me I dont know LFS because of my lack of track time and questioning my real world racing experience, thats all. You cant knock something unless youve tried it and Ive tried it.

Mike can make his own decisions on if he wants to drive for someone that isnt as interested in ovals as he is...there will be someone else out there that is interested in taking my money to race.

Im also not sure of the age of some of the people who have replied to this thread and my anti-oval comments. LFS is a awesome game, but to say I dont play it enough therefore I dont know LFS, its like your treating it like its a living being with thoughts and feelings. I dont even know what to say to that kind of behavior besides grow up!

I think some of you need to unplug from time to time. I dont know what the weather is like where you live, but its beautiful outside here and today is race day, in real life: bomber cars(oval), IMCA Modifieds(oval) and motorcycles. http://www.saratogaspeedway.bc.ca/

Enjoy your day, gents.

Quote from 510N3D :Well, my bad, i should have gone more into detail. I was actually talking about every single oval discussion in this forum and some of the people that took part on and this most probably includes you as well since i have no proof that you have got enough knowledge to create a according statement about the oval in LFS which was the actual topic, nothing else. Dont get me wrong, i agree with some of the points you've made. But in general there are lots of similarities but also lots of differences. Depending on each combo - means tracks (ovals for instance) & vehicles just to specify it. Comparisons between each of them can be either tricky, usefull (-less) and comparisons with real life experiences and simulations as well.
Besides, your hotdog example is nonsense since this excludes the complexity of the actually topic completely. Trying and doing or in other words, getting into something with passion is something different and this is where the amount of knowledge is falling apart and actually makes the difference. With all due respect, i dont care about your opinion regarding the oval in LFS anymore. Its a matter of taste so enjoy yourself and let others too.

Now if i missed something, please help me out.

Cant believe I read that...theres 10 seconds I'll never get back.

I dont have to prove my knowledge about racing to anyone on here, be it in simulation or real life. Nor have I asked for someone to prove theres to me. And that hotdog has the same complexity as you driving on any oval.

Quote from 510N3D :I think you missed the point completely in harry's comment which was obviously a question. I believe that the point was actually that if you get experiences especially online you'll get the corresponding knowledge in a matter of fact. But still this is just an indicator and nothing to absolutely rely on. Unfortunately some people think that they can step into a conversation without the required knowledge. Now take a guess at which level of quality the conversation drops now? Anyway, please also have a look at another comment in this thread and with these few words ill step out of this conversation.

Cheers

If you wanted to step out of this conversation you would have.

I'll reword my comments so that you understand. You like hotdogs, I hate hotdogs...does that mean I dont know anything about them? Hotdogs, like oval racing, Ive tried and didnt enjoy either.

Tristans comments were justified regarding the comments about my racing stats. My opinion on ovals has nothing to do with my knowledge of LFS. If Im missing something besides the racing, then tell me and I'll tell you to get out of the house more.

Back in the day(which was a Wednesday) the SuperTouring cars of the BTCC would put little metal plates on the bottoms of their front splitters for the spark effect during night races. Looked pretty neat indeed.

Quote from Crazy Harry :Tell me: What do you know about lfs?

What are you trying to demonstrate...that Im a sexy beast, thanks!

If your talking about logged laps and miles as an indication of how much I know about LFS, what a juvenile comparison. I only play LFS on the weekends due to the fact that I work out of town. Sorry if I dont go to bed with it at night. :chair:

As for KeiichiRX7`s comment, based on your stats compared to mine and comparing the amount of races you have over me, we are pretty close as far as top 3 finishes: your 49% to my 43%. This compared to your total 1046 finished races, to my 137...and that youve done 13017 more laps then I have. So I guess your right, you do know more then me...way to go champ!

No one said that ovals were easy. The objections to ovals was the fun factor involved with those of us that dont find them interesting to watch or race...and yes, Ive tried ovals.

The thing with Live For Speed is that its doesnt say Life For Ovals or Live For Road Racing...theres diversity in its title and I think that diversity should be explored, with some exceptions.

From my real world experience in racing, from hardest to easiest heres what Ive found:
  • road racing - kart and sedan
  • oval racing - kart and dwarf
  • motorcycle racing - dirt and road racing
Now, you may be wondering how racing two wheels is easier then 4, and here's why. My 4 wheel experiences I found hard because of the equipment Ive used. I may be a better driver, but if someone with not as much talent as me is in a better setup car, Im fooked. Karting wasnt as bad as we were in identical machines, but sedan racing sucked if your car sucked.

Motorcycles is all about ability...20% bike, 80% rider. Ive beat guys on tricked out 600's when my bike was bone stock, and guys on 750's and 1000cc bikes. So when you are able to get those kind of results because the guys you race arent as good as you, you'll find it easier and a lot more fun.

And just for the record, if I had not other choice but to race an oval in a beater or stock car class over sitting on my ass doing nothing, call me Lefty Lefterson.

Motordirex, my family combined (my father, 2 uncles, and myself), has 30+ years of experience of racing on ovals, in karts & stockcars. I am a college educated professional, not a mindless idiot. I don't appreciate your ignorant comments about people who race ovals.

When you have any real world racing experience, please come back on here and comment on how easy (any) racing is.

Lee, I know that in the US ovals are huge, even in Canada there are quite a few of them...paved and everything! There are a few on the island I live on as well.

As for my real world racing experience:
  • age 10 to 18; MotoX, Honda 50, CR 80
  • took a break until I was 23 then: 125 cc karting. Did the karting thing for 3 years until our local course was shut down, took the kart to the ovals, thought about a Dwarf car but didnt like ovals, sold the kart
  • age 26 bought a 2000 Suzuki GSX-R 600. Raced WMRC and SRRC here in BC. 2005 took 3rd overall in the club championship, and top 5 with the WMRC
  • took a couple years off the bike racing to focus on other things. Race in AutoX events and now organize two motorcycle clubs and the PlusOne Performance autox club. I am promoting kart racing again and getting a series back here on Vancouver island where I live
So I feel my real world racing experience isnt that bad when i look at it now and yes, I have tried ovals. Sorry if I miffed everybody with my comment, that wasnt what I had meant to do.
