That is an invalid assertion. If you focus on taking care of the needs of the many (in this case people that want to play flashy games), then by definition you alienate the needs of the few (in this case pure race simmers). You can succeed very nicely by focusing on a niche market with a product specifically designed for that market. If that is not what you want, then get NFSU on your 360 and have a nice life (might I also suggest the Google toolbar... it has a nice spell checker built in).
Maybee i wasn't, in talking about the needs of the manny, i meant the long awaited aero-patch, the thing about this aero bug is that it's hard to implement even with single precision it would use a HUGE amount of cpu power to compute the air fluiding the car(!s!) around.
I apologize for unclear talking, i didn't meant to make lfs "smaller" as it is right now ca.130Mb is really good in comparsion to other "racing" related programms.
Besides how long was the aero "bug" known by now?
Guess quite long.
If i understood corectly, you think that LFS is gona fail, and noone would play it because our needs are not fed???
Yes, in a way that the devs can't answer the urgent bugs and problems because of manpower.
And NO because the devs have a well grown community that won't flee in terror because of "incompleteness"
Anyway the longer you work with a certain programm, then in time you'd have some whishes to be fullfilled, and that will be quite hard if you're a threesome.
WTF? This is the only game that trully listens to the players/customers, and implements what they want, and what is the best.. I myself played a small role in one of the patches back in S1 days(suggested the buton that can skip to the next song playing )...
So, i really don't know what you are talking about..
Other part if again i understood corectly, is that LFS must go to the consoles, in order to suceed...??
NO, but it should open up to more programmers that can help finding solution for problems.
You know the saying that 4 eyes see more than 2, well think of more people working for LFS in order to support the devs in their quest to programm aerodynamic-fluid-computation in real time...
Anyway i don't know from where you got that console thing
I am surprised by your posts really...
Unique people, unique oppinions, if it's possible to discuss them in a normal manner, then the better...
u-hu well i don't know the specs from the 360, but i doubt that one core would be faster than 3, since the limit of clock must have been reached.
Thats why we go parallel instead of faster.
Anyway, then what you think about the multicore of the ps3 ?
I read that a bunch (10) of ps3 clustered together could match one of the top500 supercomputers...
wrong, gt1 for instance, wasn't that bad bad at car setting up.
motivation or not wats the purpose of developing a sim that noone would play anymore because the needs of the many wern't fed? (talking of tracks, general improvements...)
it's the impression i get when seeing "hyperactive's" huge list of improvements.
well, for "shelling" try to copy the helmet without the visor size it down 2% you get some real material "thickness" (didn't know how to say it otherwise) connect the corresponding vertices to sew your new helmet (inner/outer).
to get the "fluffy" helmet padding use some boolean ops like:
1. substract helmet from cube, use what it left from the inside of the helmet, throw the rest of the cube away.
2. C4d has a "magnetic" tool to manipulate more vertices/polygons at once to create smooth bumps.
3. use hypernurbs to let it look more natural.
4. Now substract helmet+head from cube you'll get what would be between these 2 objects.
sorry for lousy english but no translator could translate "Schnittmenge" to english, this word describes in my lang what would remain between helmet+head.
1. abbrasive? (sorry my translator can't find this word, and i don't know how to instruct google to translate it for me... (But in general, i think it wasn't nice)
2. you havn't answered to my question
3. if i'd intended to be "disturbing" (thought that was your last post concerning me...) you'd notice.
4. i stated my first post in a little /IRONIC manner.
What i need to pinpoint is none of your business, i thought this is a forum were you can post you opinion, to see you defend the devs work (wich i like too) makes me think about the word fanatic.
Meaning that if you make statements that don't "fit in" you'll get flamed...
(not accepting criticism)
Have the devs said that "the best", or is it your conclusion?
Pointed out by who? The users? Some physician?
So who, except the devs, has the basis to tell if lfs is doing the job right?
To be sarcastic, i'd have to say that it isn't "complete" (not refering to the alpha state)and therefore it can't be "correct" and will never be.
or how about some "practice mode" ONLY usable things like some yellow->red indicator bar that represents the tyre grip level.
Supposed to learn how much max. throttle to apply when in a rwd car at the apex of a hairpin. (like a visualized indicator analog to the sound of the squealing tyres).
And a second one for the braking bar to know when they are about to block instead of rolling.
1. you don't have the source. So you can't tell if the physics are really that accurate as they're praised to be.
2. Since you can't comply to 1 stop telling me to post "nonCenCe".
heres another viewpoint, you all have your points in your argumentation no doubt about it.
A bit drastic, maybee but please think for a moment about what happens to those who follow the same rules of learning.
They specialize themselves more and more they get involved into things.
And thats not bad if youre hunting your setup.
On the other hand you (still) learn your "system" from only one point of view.
I'm talking about looking at a chart of numbers and don't see the big picture, because you're to much concerned about details.
For example take any track you like and any car too, now measure/calculate the vector of travelling you car will take after all corners are added/substracted together (left 60° minus right 87°...etc).
after this walkaround, you can say if a asymetric set would be good.
So if you start analyzing you data, driven by yourself or not doesn't matter, you'll sometimes find some interessting things you would'nt expect them to be there in the first place.
And don't flame me if all this doesn't make any sense to you, im not completely sure if what I was about to say really got expressed.
despite the fact lfs is a sim, it shouldn't mean it's got to be complicated.
so +1 here Woz.
On the other hand, show me any professsional real driver that screws on his car, instead of talking to the mechs.
I like the concept cause, I don't know very much about car-specs and "what " to change to get "this" effect.
how about trillian 3.1? nothing fancy no commercials/advertisement and even stoneage old versions run.
(for those who don't know, it's a multi protocol messenger, capable of encrypted links between trillians clients, no other client offers that).
sorry to offend you, but, is it just me, or do you english speaking people always make that much grammar mistakes?
I mean seriously, I wouldn't mind if this happens when your native language isn't english.
But from my understanding england, australia, america and some minor ex-colonies use english as native language.
So how come these people make sometimes horrible grammar mistakes...?
please don't feel degraded or sth like that, i'm just curious cause similar things happen in my native language too.
I'm far from insulting anyone, i want a clean discussion about that matter.
