Quote from hiroshima guy :City/Country : Singapore
Time (Local) : 11:08AM
Weather conditions : Sunny and a little cloud everywhere. 31 deg C in my room now.
How you feel about it? : Awesome weather for now. Well, it's May, everything is so unpredictable, Hot N Cold all over again.

Actually in my point of view, 20+ deg C is very cold to me. If it's hot to you, I can't possibly imagine how you'll cope with 30+ deg C here in Singapore right now. Lol, kudos to you guys. The temperature here is like a breeze, nothing to talk about, it's rather cool I think.

It surpasses 30+ degrees here very frequently in the summer (we hit 40+ on occasion even) and I find 20 degrees hot. Hell, I find 15 degrees hot. I like my 5-10 degree weather. That's perfect. I hate how we have such a drastic temperature shift here... -25 in the winter to +40 in the summer. It's brutal.

Quote from zeugnimod :The actual event area could only hold up to 500000 people at best but there were 1,4 million who all wanted to get there. And to get there, you had to go through a narrow tunnel. And those people were pushing to get in there while others also wanted out from the event area.

You don't need a lot of imagination to figure out that this is a recipe for disaster, especially with probably 3/4 of the people drunk or drugged up, IMO.

Quote from samjh :It's just poor wording. The two mean the same.

"Has to have" is negated by "up to".

"Has to have 6 cyls" = Must have only 6 cyls, no more and no less.

"Has to have up to 6 cyls" = Has to have cylinders, up to six.

The real technical regulations are probably better worded than the wiki article.

With pedantics like that, you should be reading the real rules and exploiting the shoddy wordings for profit! Call up some teams! Tilt

Quote from 5haz :As I understand it teams will be able to buy (or manufacture their own?) different extensive aero packages for their cars based around only the central tub, so all going to plan the actual shape shown there may end up varying quite a bit hopefully.

My assumption was it would more be in the form of different approaches to wings, kinda like hose the current front wing and nosecone is a separate unit; the teams could modify the wing (with very strict regulations). I assumed it would along those lines.

Quote from Mattesa :I have less of a problem with this approach. If a designer can work within the rule book but still come out with a competitive and good looking car, then that's exactly what industrial design is all about.

On the other hand these proposals are more or less for a somewhat spec package (correct me if I misunderstand) where the design is intentionally extreme to draw eyeballs. Though there's nothing wrong with playing the game to JJ72's point. The Daytona Prototypes are on the opposite end of the stick; they're just too effing ugly to watch.

Every prototype came from the designer the same as these proposals; slightly outlandish, etc. The final car will more than likely be much toned down from what you see in these renders. I guarantee you the final car will not look exactly like what you see here.

Quote from Mattesa :Is this the first time a race car was so intentionally "styled" for visual appeal?

Seems kinda shallow to me.

Nope. It's been done a lot, and 90% of all pure-bred race cars now are designed by a designer before being extensively wind-tunnel tested. The Aston Martin LMP car was a re-styled Lola chassis, done specifically to make it prettier (and then all the mistakes fixed again by Lola, ha!)

Quote from Velociround :My game has never, ever crashed (TDU 1).

Quote from Specht77 :I only had crashes on the online beta, but when I bought the game, I never had any crash

Quote from Bose321 :Same, it's stable.

Music does not change with windows up or down, engine and sounds around you do.

I, and many others, experience frequent crashes. Granted this occurs on platforms where there's so many different combinations of hardware, but the fact of the matter is that it is not as stable as a finished product should be. And the crappy road surface. Crappy, crappy road surface.

So I suppose you don't pay for any software either, then?

I see where you're coming from, but fact is, it's a full-time job and they need compensation to live on. It's a lose-lose.

Quote from Mustafur :You can't compare two completely different games, sure TDU has racing as well but everyone knows its more then that its the whole cruising on a free map thing that makes the game.

last i heard only 1 TDU game came out so far so you can't exactly say TDU series, maybe they changed the roads this time around.

Granted comparing the series may be a little thin, but the comparison is still legitimate; the comparison is made on the quality, not the content. Fact of the matter is that TDU has many, many issues (some of which are simlpy game-breaking). That is what makes GT better, regardless of what the style of the game is.

Quote from Sir moi 407 :People not having the same tastes as you are plainly wrong?

As mentioned, it's not about taste (unless you have a taste for games with issues ?).

The TDU concept is neat, and I like it (and I still like TDU, and play it from time to time) but it just simlpy has a lot of issues. I honestly don't have much hope for it to be fixed with TDU2, either. There's been absolutely no mention to the biggest problem (crappy road surface) nor to the second biggest problem (frequent crashing).

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Not trying to be a sony fanboy here, but isn't that the whole point of being in a business that sells products?

Business has nothing to do with delivering/offering the best product; it's about making people believe that's what you're doing.

That being said, anyone who says that the TDU series is better than GT is plainly wrong. TDU has simply near undriveable roads... which is pretty bad for a driving game.

Also, West Coast is the best Coast.

Your Canada is irrelevant, you Limey Git!

Quote from Intrepid :But merely getting into F1 really isn't THAT big of a deal.

There was a time, when I was a naiive young'n, when I would have disagreed with you... but looking at the calibre of some of the drivers in F1, you're right. Some of them shouldn't have been there, really.

You can't really blame the rich ones for making it, it's a rich sport. If you can't afford the equipment to compete, then you can't afford it. Simple as. It's a shitty deal, but that's the sport. It's expensive by nature.

The amount spent is obsurd; $1.1 billion CAD in some accounts, but I've heard as much as $1.4 billion from other sources. I think it was something like $980 million spent on security alone, compared to $18 million for the next most expensive G20 summit. The thing that gets me most, though, is the amount spent on this pavillion thing. Some $25 million to create a pavillion, complete with artifical lake, to showcase 'Canada's assets.'

In any case... people are still moronic. Anarchy for the sake of anarchy should be punishable by castration. The G20 is already enough of a pain in the ass without having to dodge flying rocks, shattering glass and burning cop cars.

So by the sounds of things, the protests in Toronto for the G20 summit have already turned violent with smashed windows, looting, multiple arrests, vandalism, torched cop cars and media vehicles, etc etc.

... I don't get it. I really don't. Why protests against a meeting of world leaders? It's not like they're sitting in there devising a scheme for world domination (they already have that, anyways, pretty much). I understand protesting the ridiculous amount spent on this summit by the federal government, but what else is there to protest that specifically pertains to the summit?

Sometimes I hate this damn city.

(For the record, I'm aware all summits are accompanied by (violent) protests, and this commentary applies to all of them too)
