Not really, but he lives somewhere here in the Blackwood Island forest
Some locals have spotted him and found footprints, during the night they hear growling and there are odd lights appearing in the forest. They even found strange tyre marks around the place.

Quote from Electrik Kar :I've always wanted a kind of fictional history for each track, and it would be nice if every track had it's own website. An interview with the Blackwood guru (I've no idea who he is) wouldn't go amiss either... :gandalf:

Blackwood Guru is like The Stig, no one knows him but sure he drives fast and I recon he lives in the forests of Blackwood.

I think its a good thought, I know that there is a vast ammount of information given to you on lfsworld but just think how rare would it be for a sim to have its own websites for each individual track. Also what we are missing are proper map layouts with corner names average speeds at certain corners etc....

btw that Portland website is poo, first impression design wise is that it has nothing to do with racing, why arent there any images of the track on the main home screen... arghgh ok there is one but id like the whole site to give a nice racetrack feel to it...

Quote from johnfromsunnymull : Well we might not get a ZERO hopefully not but i still think that we should have picked a band or solo artist that is a favourite all around Britain!

And who would that be? Name a few artists that everyone likes generaly across the UK that isn't already a celebrity or a star as they call those people. Also you are faced with a problem of appealing to the whole of Europe which is a tough task and I havent even mentioned the political voting that goes on. UK over the last few years have been entering mature classic performances which haven't appealed to the crowd at all and that is why they are always near the bottom but this year they picked something that is very pop, cheese, crackers and whacky totally different and I have a feeling that they will appeal more than UK's previous acts. Poor poor Jemini!

edit

Quote from JamesK :Wow, there's someone out there that gives a toss about Eurovision?

Quite a few million people throughout the whole of Europe as you ask

I feel your pain too, beeing a regular Eurovision watcher since 1998. I thought that all of the acts tonight were alright with Cyndi standing out for me but only because of the quality of her voice and she did look nice

When it came down to it I thought Hawkins and Brown weren't too bad. By i feel you are under estimating Scooch, as much as I hated their cheese pop song I think that it may do rather well, seeing the preview of the other acts i think they will fit right in It is also what Eurovision is all about, cheese and pop except Lordi as they rock!!

I dont think they will get a zero though.....

I was checking out the Eurovision webby earlier and found that Czech Republic are entering for the first time this year so I will be interested with what song and singer and whether we will actually make it to the Helsinki show. I think i saw correctly that Kabát a czech rock band was representing CZ.

Should be another night of frustration watching European countries vote for their neighbours and visa versa, a night of laughter at some of the cheese songs and weird performances but come may the 12th I will be watching with a can of beer.

I would definitely be up for that, if we (the community) if we could make this a community project it would be great. Like I said i could have a go at making the web designs having done graphics in the past but i think we all could come together and do something towards it. There are some really good people about on the forum.

I was thinking the same as Blackout. The websites could be made very realisticly as if to represent real life tracks and events With T-shirt, hats etc promos...

[edit] i ll have a bash at throwing a template together for one of the track webbys, blackwood or kyoto and see what people think..

Quote from Da Fish :That would be a good idea, but as ATC Quicksilver says, it would take a person who is willing to make the sacrifice. You never know it might re-ignite some interest in the devs

Well i would be willing to buy some of the domain names but only .co.uk as the .com seems to be taken

I could have a go at making the websites too but i am quite noobish when it comes to actually setting up synch and timings with lfsworld. Also i dont have the webspace and money currently to pay for it.

Hmm its a shame, it would be quite nice if each track had is own page on which you could find more info. Maybe even guides on how to drive the track and some of its more tricky corners with live record updates from lfsworld...

Quote from birder :Thats a huge list Hyperactive but just imagine if it was being developed by a bigger team.

Yeah a bigger team would obviously make things quicker but it has been a busy year for ScaViEr. Scawen's son was born, he did up his house few months prior. Eric has been moving house. And considering that its only these 3 guys who actually work on the game when something like that comes into yourlife you have to concentrate on that and then once the home is sorted, and some stability is around then they can push on with the game again.

I think the birth of Scawens child must have been the best moment in his life and when something like that happens some things get priority but nevertheless they still gave us a patch, we still had progress, and he is currently working on the next incompatible patch.

But obviously things like that will effect the progress to some degree.

All i say is rock on ScaViEr

Really quite impressed with Heidfeld and the BMW's generally. They amnaged to qualify very high, I am quite interested in their race performance. I wouldn't put it past BWM winning.

It was a shame for Massa, but atleast Kimi is up there.

Quote from XCNuse :do you happen to know how many years that is to come?
i can take an estimate if you dont mind, alot of people expected S3 to be released this year, thats not going to happen, S3 wont be out until somewhere near 2009/2010 at best, by then i can't imagine many will still be here

Well I don't see why a deadline should be given when LFS will be finished. Devs never really gave a clear deadline on the finished release of LFS so i dont see why we should suddenly expect them to give one. Yeah I agree with you that s3 will not be done before 2009/2010 although once the physics are sorted then ther is very little to do apart from work on eye candy maybe add a few tracks and few extra cars.

I also don't see why people who are here today will not be here in 2009/2010. I think many will be here and the few that will flock to other next gen sims who no doubt will look awesome just like GT HD does but I strongly believe that they will be back once LFS reaches s3 final whenever that is. The question remains though are 2 people (as victor isnt a graphic man) capable of getting the graphics up to GT HD's standart. In this case i find myself in a doubt. I can't really see a way that 2 guys can do what a team of people did in GT HD over few years on their own, but maybe i am not giving enough credit to Sca Er and they will come up with some awesome stuff. Maybe they have some plans to get a helping hand from somewhere to push LFS further and faster, but maybe not, i don't know.

But to say LFS sucks is just not justified.

mad

EDIT: A point BBT brought up above is that the devs are also thinking of new features to add as they go along and this will also delay the process slightly of suddenly Scawen will have a amazing brainstorm day and come up with another nifty feature he wants to add to the already few meters long list I bet he has!

Quote from XCNuse :and yes i do realize that majority of you here dont give a damn about the graphics.. the rest of the gaming world does, if LFS wants to have big success and be up there on race tracks and being fully supported by rFactor, LFS is going to have to look.. good.. and that will bring more people into it, and make it hit headlines

LFS will look good once it is 100% finished, complete, done. We are at the beta stage, its is a major project being worked on by 3 guys and they want to take LFS a certain way and once LFS is complete i bet that it will look just as good. You cant expect Scawen to upgrade the graphics every 2 years to keep up to date with other sims!! I think the graphics is the last thing that he will rewrite once the physics, sounds and other features are sorted.

There would be just no point to update the graphics now so in 3 years time when LFS is finished the final version will come out and look out of date again and having to redo all of the graphics again! It's understandable that a longterm and on going project such as LFS will be out of date with a few things due to other things being developed. I dont care if i was driving a lego car made out of only 10 polygons, if the physics are right and its playable then i am happy.

Yes the competition has increased over the year with xbox360 and ps3 coming out with sim titles who will just market their game with graphics and other crap but i have confidence in Scavier that they know which direction they want to take and i am sure it will be the right one. For now, yes i shall go back and race my unrealistic cars.

Gotta agree with Blackout 100%

Quote from CSU1 :I don't quite understand what you say Scania?

He is saying:

Some computers like mine are quite old, when there are a lot of cars in view like at turn one if you started back of the grid or mid grid it causes his pc to slow down. So what he does is press F to get rid of the cars so that they dont have to be rendered. BUT when he does swtich into forces mode then he cannot see when others infront have started to brake and so its very easy to cause a crash as he cannot see others braking.

Well I feel that LFS is slow at developing but I dont see that as an issue for me. At the current stage that we find our selves LFS is still a BETA but its the most playable and enjoyable BETA game i've ever played and because its already playable at this stage it just make me more excited of what LFS is actually going to develop into in a few years. I do feel your pain though too but I can still have loads of fun racing LFS than rfactor, gtr2 and other sims on pc.

I certainly dont think LFS sucks at this stage but yes there are a few things that need to be fixed and finished..

Intel can do whatever to sell more of their chips and rFactor can also do whatever they like to sell more games. When LFS is ready, it will outsell any of the sims on the market and it wont need too much of marketing to do it, its quality will shine through and word by word it will spread.

I am happy with my LFS and what ever LFS is going to be few years down the line I know it will be a great simulator with a great community.

btw.. that doesn't go to say i dont play any other games apart from LFS, i play loads of stuff including the very dated MBTR me loves trucks
so before you start calling me an LFS fanboy btw any one looking forward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R Chadow of Chernobyl?

That does look quite impressive, for a second there i was imagining S3
Graphically the xbox360 produces some very nice rendering and the game looked great, shaddow was a little too dark when he was talking about the dirt on the car as you couldn't really see anything but the youtube video quality didnt help and he did say they were still fine tuning the lighting.

I was however unimpressed by the damage model, really saw nothing new there. Reminded me of Race Driver 3, same little looking damage info on screen with tyres, bumbers engines, gearboxes changing colours according to their damage. Damage it self to the car was very similar too with big chunks falling off and glass shattering and a few dents but it wasn't really that impressive, very Toca Race Driver style. I do think they didn't really show that off very well though.

Apart from that the game looks solid and quite good.

I would love to see some wet weather effects if they are in the game, they will no doubt look awesome!
