Changed to an engine that I did from scratch due to license issues

Done some more work on it, now the rear wing isn't connected by bluetooth anymore

Continuing the theme that I have started, I wanted to try my hand at making a rear wheel drive dragster. There is already the Top Fuel Dragster so I decided to make a dragster that would fit into a lower class, still fast but not Top Fueler fast.

The build would go as follows:

Engine: 7L, Twin Turbocharged V8, 9700rpm redline.

Power: 3200Hp+ (2440kw) for a start.

Transmission: 3 Speed TH400 manually shifted

1/4 Mile Time: Low 7 second for a start.

Purpose:
Good old drag racing, this is NOT a circuit car, it's made to go in a straight line fast!
This also serves as a chance for me to design something from scratch, better learning the ins
and outs of the whole mod system and adding another fun vehicle to the LFS mods list.
I want to focus not only on performance but to get it looking good as well.

I know that competition dragsters normally don't have traction control but due to the tyre physics in LFS being designed for road tyres and circuit racing slicks, traction is a challenge when making a high power drag car, so for now I'll include it.

So I decided that I would like to give the modding a shot with the view to progress to some mods based on real world cars.

As a start I decided to take the FXO and turn it into a drag car, based on the drag racing classes here in South Africa. The class it would fit in a is the 4BF class which is a for 4 cylinder engines, 1 form of turbocharging/ supercharging & front wheel drive.

Mods include:

2.1L Inline 4 Cylinder Turbo Engine
Large Front Slicks
Skinny Rear Wheels
Slight body modifications to accommodate the new wheels
Engine, fuel cell & battery relocation for more weight over the driven wheels

I have a passion for all forms of motorsport and would like to translate this into the world of LFS by introducing cars that might not normally be known to the average LFS'er.

This thing sticks like glue, great mod!

This has become a favourite of mine overnight, what a blast to drift this big boat, engine sounds nice too! Maybe at some stage you can make a drag car version of it, not a pro mod but with some 10.5 inch slicks on the back and skinnies up front with some more power!

One thing that does bug me with a number of mods, the way the turbo spools just seems too fast, there is no lag or spool up time, its almost linear to throttle input. Is there a way of making this more "realistic"?

What a car, I just did a few laps with it as well as messing around doing gymkhana type stuff and all I can say is WOW!

This needs to be an approved mod, its awesome! The sound is great and your race setup is pretty spot on. It give one a nice starting point to tweak here and there for each circuit.

I have been doing some hot lapping and broke by lap record and want to update my hot lapping stats. The problem is, I can view the replay under replays in the game but when I go into the .spr replays folder the replay I am looking for doesn't exist!!!!!!

Your help would be greatly appreciated

thanx guys for the replies, I think it would be nice, I mean yes there is no "real" steering skill in drag racing but dont for 1 second, think that doing well is easy, because on LFS u can't mod ur cars so it is all down to how well you can set the car up and the speed at which u can change gears. If you do have 8 or so guys sharing the record, then so be it, it means u 8 guys are the best!!!

It would be nice to kno whether the devs have had a look at this post, I am pretty sure it can be too much of a hassle to make these minor add-ons

Hey guys and hopefull developers. I wanted to know if it would be possible to include the drag strip under the "S2 Hotlaps" section on LFS World.
If this is done then LFS racers can also get a ranking with their drag times and I am sure the change won't be too difficult to make

Noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago, I think, and automatically linked it to a dips in the power supply, but when it started happening 2-3 times in a day then I realised it had to be an issue with the game, if you have any ideas as to what is causing it, PLEASE do tell.
It seems like it mainly happens when I am in singly player mode and using the track editor, e.g. today I put a couple of ramps on the blackwood rallycross course and then raced against A.I. on the course with the ramps placed. I then went back and viewed the replay and slowing the replay rate to 0.250x while the A.I. was going over the ramps, all of a sudden the computer momentarily(split seconds) goes off and then switches back on/restarts.

Well I wonder what this involves, I wonder whether we will get a drag slick , that would be cool, hehehe, but at least we know that the update should make the tires more realistic

I dont want to come across as a moaner, it is just that when u have a game as good as LFS, u need to try and keep up to date with the discussions, or at least give a genral statement letting all the racers know about the progress of an up date or patch, I mean come on, its been 7 months since there was any formal statement given with regards to the Scirocco

I fully agree, but I want to know if the devs even take the time to look at this, it would be nice to get some form of recognition from them, indicating that they have taken note of the suggest and why or why not they will improve on it.

If anyone has a more personal knowledge basis of the devs might want to send this suggestion to one of them specifically becuz at the moment it seem as if they are no where to be found, seeing that we have not heard ANYTHING of the Scirocco and why it has taken so blinking long.

COME ON DEVS, PLEASE TELL US SOMETHING!!!!!!!
