Quote from MadCatX :I don't believe he does. What Englishlord was getting at was that when a product fails to meet someone's needs or expectations, it does not necessarily mean that there is something objectively wrong with the product. We get it, some people got bored of LFS and want it to become something more. What I personally don't get is why these people keep pitching their ideas over and over instead of finding a game that has the features they're missing in LFS.

Because people keep praising blindly a sim that are already acknowledged.

tbh, both camp are right, those praising and those whose bitching, because LFS need praising for what dev achieved so far, and bitching for the lack of ambitious plan.

Move on. Find another game to play. It's a big world with lots to do in it. Nobody cares about your disappointment.

It seem like you care alot about his disappointment.

Quote from Eclipsed :...and I'll sort of repeat my previous post - they obviously not making LFS to get stunning rich (unlike americans at iPaying and italians who both are making their sims for exactly that reason),otherwise we would already have S5/S6 out (with rushed quality).

I'm not a fanboy, who will defend devs at any costs,I would also have seen developement running different road, but still - LFS is one of the best sims around. It does not have tons of kids-wet-dream-cars and extremely polished up graphics, that will bite out chunks out of every mid-range computer and spit it in garbage can like AC does, neither it has a huge paying userbase, who will pay and pay just to stay in game. LFS offers simplicity, effectiveness and great control over your client or server if you're a hoster. Unfortunatelly people nowadays prefer the shiny exotic cars or being one of many users of a very popular sim without worrying about costs as people are used to pay subscriptions basically in every gaming genre...
So I'll stay and will keep racing as long as there are any events and few other fanatics to race with. If we have some new toys in future (wink wink like one of those crazy 1000HP CART cars from late 90ies wink wink) - for me it is already a bonus!

It's not like we're not paying for DLC's in LFS right ?

So here we are, us bunch of fanatics praising our sim and watching our (nearly) empty servers list with proudly eyes, the "simplicity, effectiveness and great control over your client or server" seems like not nearly enough to revive LFS, so wtf is lacking in our perfect sim ?

LFS now is basically a "play or **** off" mentality, so people picked the second option and they are actually enjoying their "shitty sim" like some of elitist LFS users like to call them, and yet we're calling them "idiots" because they are blind or too retarded to understand the greatness of LFS....

How can an massive multiplayer sim survive without attracting people ? I can't really understand the lack of ambition from the devs and the community in LFS.... I'm sure we can have a decent sim with good graphics, physics and plenty of contents without necessarily a rushed quality or a series of expansives DLC's.

But gladly no one is hostage of one sim, so feel free to sink the ship.

Quote from GAVD999 :Fanboyism won't save LFS I quite agree, but what will? No one buys any more licences the money will eventually run out then no more LFS full stop. We all know it desperately needs content but that is out of our control.

What would help is getting some hype built up and keeping things moving at a consistent pace, for example the Westhill update, then Rockingham release both great but they where too far apart with no previews or anything in between so interest peaks up then fades away again shortly afterwards.

A true progress report every few months, even every 6 months showing some previews into what is being worked on (content wise) would really help put some faith back into the community and get people talking about LFS again.

I agree, and I think LFS right now is sort of a dev personal hobby which you can't predict or participate, just to accept as it is.

I mean when a developer is stubborn into one way of thinking and working on his project, you can't argue on anything as a community memeber, this is not like other modern sim approach with their playerbase, they developed a sort of exchanging service relationalship, the studio trying to keep developing in a continuous pace to satisfy their consumers, where the community has the role of helping, organizing, support or even beta testing or modding if available....

And yet Scawen seem (IMO) to not managing his project as a serious company, I know this is his business and I won't sticking my nose any further ( but as a player of a massive multiplayer game, we somehow are participating into it ), but as many old or new simracers I don't expect too much from this kind of approach

Quote from MadCatX :Oh my.......out of the devs' control.

So can you explain to us how on earth such a perfect sim with continuous developement pace got close to no racing servers available right now ? and why 98% of the racers community moved to the other "bad sim" ?

As I said fanboyism will not miraculously revive LFS.

"Yeah we're working on something but don't expect too much from a release standpoint"

Don't you think it's a little bit contradictory ?

Scawen clearly stated that you can buy the actual ingame Rockingham ( for those who want ) but you can't buy his promises, so good luck to defend your "donation".

That mean by buying the s3 you're not forcing him to work on further contents, thats why the remaining of LFS racer consider it as a gift or donation.

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :Please tell me, why Aston track needs to be realistic?

I just really want your honest opinion about that, because unlike you, I am quite opposite about that. I got curious about that. No need to give a singe brick or any, if you want so, tho, because after all, it is matter of taste.

Graphics side mostly, nothing wrong with the track layout itself, I think the physics mesh are too flat too.

And yet it's us who are losing ground to the other simulations.

That must be something that isn't as perfect as you described, I think we can call it: Attractivity.

Yes I think the only think that are killing LFS is the graphics and contents, solid base won't be enough sadly.

Cmon lets dont become a bunch of apologists, yea the game is smooth and all ( from a 13 year old engin running on modern pc what more do you expect ? ), but don't tell me RB4/FZ5/UF1 etc interiors are the finest details in gaming industry or Aston is a realistic track, LFS deserve a way better representation because of the solid base!

Fanboyism will not fill up the server lists or make the game more attractive. Shrug

For only one track I think its not worth the price, for now its only a sorta of donation or a "thanks" gift, Scawen stated that he don't know when the futur content will be ready so don't take it for a guaranty.

There are rich people even in somalia ya know ? there is even people who can buy rediculously pricy GTX1080 day one in those country when 90% of people get payed only 5$ per day.

Anyway do not go for a laptop if you only going to gaming, build you own pc piece by piece, so you will get something more powerful and futurproof.

Quote from k_badam :Kunos didn't pull the trigger. In fact most mod a makers a being idiots imo. Just because one website stopped doing this one thing doesn't mean another can't do it... In fact Racdepartment has a higher amount of mods so the AC forum wasn't even the best place to get mods.

Just let him be, Rf2 are in need of some ego showcase (wip) specialists, AC modding community has enough motivated guy who cares about doing their best in modding and not only waiting all the day for every little opening to troll Kunos decisions.

Again it's not like kunos are making profit with your mods Hyperactive, AC moding capability is just a tool to expend game contents, nothing more nothing less, it's truly digusting to see you taking opportunity with this situation to say ( am going to RF2 **** you all ) you are supposed to be an adult right ?

What other sim last more then 14 years i really started playing in 2005 bought licence in 2007 no money wasted Smile.

I tried AC but didn't like it graphics looks good but too much arcade .... RFactor hasn't much going on online maybe iracing but that is too expensive for me.

Real hard core sims hard too find think LFS is still best Thumbs up

tbh I don't find AC physics to be too different from lfs, it's almost identical if you take the same spec cars, thats why many of previous active lfs users are now into AC leagues or public multiplayer.

Quote from Scawen :I don't see a "nearly dead" community. Obviously there is less activity than there was in the past, but death isn't the word that springs to mind if you actually look at what's going on. Looking at the lfsworld graphs there is still an *average* of around 150 *licensed* people online at any time and the number of licensed people online often goes above 250. Yeah, quite a few of these are drifting or cruising but there is racing going on every day, if you choose to join a server.

We are not lacking in motivation. Actually work has picked up a lot since those quiet years and I see a good future in LFS. I work at a more sustainable rate and also have a hobby and a family, so that's quite balanced really.

I believe that the things we add to LFS in the future will be good fun and there will be ups and downs in the online activity.

Thanks for clarification, as I said some of us will still play this sim until you will officially close the master server or retire from LFS development, so the remanent of this community are probably the most patient people you can find in all simracing community.

You are right, most of licenced/demo users are on cruising or drifting stuff ( even those who are using cracked copy ), there is maybe two active server for racing on demo, sometimes I see some s3/s2 server popup on the list with some guys racing but its very rare and it's not nearly enough to offer a good amount of diversity to say the least, LFS racing scene is suffering from the strong competition with other sim which offer licenced track/cars and much moderne graphics or organised multiplayer system, that will give you an idea why LFS have so much trouble to attract serious amount of users, I am pretty confident that you already knew that pretty well.

Improving some very specific stuff on LFS is fine, but I hope we can see at least a bigger change once 3 or 4 months with those little improvement here and there so LFS can evolve much faster compared to the past.

Maybe the amount of work is too much for only one dev, but this is how people want simracing in 2016, which naturaly need a much more dedicated developement time and sacrifices.

And sorry for the bad english.

It's true that a nearly dead community is a motivation killer for a dev.

But still am happy to see some new stuff even if it's irrelevant for the major part of users.

Never seen such childish overreaction from some moders (dauntless...), moding its all about personalise the sim experience and integrating the car you like to drive if you have the capability, it's not like Kunos owe them money for opening their game to them, I don't really get about this shitstorm at all.

In conclusion, a huge part of moders was doing this to showcase their 3d skills only for their ego or profit/job hunting, the fun factor are on the minority side imo.

Juste looking at the AC forum thread, the majority of excessive reaction ans whining are from the eternal WIP specialists...
lfsrm
S3 licensed
Yea we don't need such half baked eternal WIP projects anymore.

If they gave up on AC modding with such meaningless justification, that mean their motivation are not enough to even half finish their actual projects, better for them to return to a showcase website like devian-art so they can have their daily dose of "great work" "thanks" etc....

Quote from k_badam :A lot of the mods on the AC forums are on racedepartment so i wouldn't worry too much. The only problem is that I won't be able to keep up with W.I.Ps that were on the AC forums as i don't know where to find them.

Lot of them will transfer their projects here : http://www.racedepartment.com/forums/assetto-corsa-modding-discussions.414/

They are not insane, they know there is other forums who can replace easily their official place for modding purposes.

I think they are cleaning a bit the forum so they will gain more free time when the consoles crowd invade the forum with their issues/wish listes.

The sim is still modable, so who cares about which place you can showcase or download your mod.

Quote from Eclipsed :Probably. We do not really know much is and in what order is in Scawen's (main programmer) to-do list, all we know that new tyre physics and VR support is on the top of that list, probably adding content to S3 licence too,but that's rather Eric's (LFS artist) job. But he obviously intends to make this sim as good as he can,he seems to be sort of a perfectionist - he tends to iron out all possible glitches before calling a release official, not like his italian colleagues, who tend to throw all they got to public and then deal with whatever is wrong there. Big grin
What we got here is how far he is now with it.

And its seems like their italian colleagues have a far better popular sim than us who are actually "facepalming" in front of our empty server list... maybe perfectionism are not a good way to do things after all.

It's true that RB4 interior are the pinnacle of perfection... just sayin...because being blind in front of LFS situation will not improve mp popularity.
