Hi Scawen, had a goosebump for a moment when I saw the test patch thread lol Big grin.

So no crash so far, but it seems like there is "holes" in the ambiante shadow under the car, near the tyres, also if you can make it darker because IMO it's still barely visible.

Quote from Eclipsed :I'm wondering how legal this is. I mean - all the tracks are licenced content, accessible only for those, who have purchased LFS licence, now the guy offers the stuff for free, even if it's another environment.

I bet that no one know this track is from LFS.

Interesting, but it can look way more detailed with an up to date track like Westhill.

Give it to a demo user, I think an demo user will be much more happy with it than a licensed guy Smile.

Quote from RC-Maus :I think scawen allready has his list he want to do Smile

Lately i bought assetto when it was on sale but I miss all kind off stuff we take for granted in lfs. Only graphics are better but LFS wins at rest.

Seems like the majority of simracing player base don't think the same as you.

Which explain why Scawen have to make progress on those things, if LFS was already perfect why would he go into a coding adventure if the software part is already perfect ?

You can use existing formula like from pacejka model if you get yourself stuck into another impossible problem, use it as a placeholder until you find a more efficient way to make the thing if its possible ofc.

It would be nice when you reach a playable stage with tyre physics development to start an open test patch for us to help you finding glitch and exploits that beta testers ignored or didn't found.

Nothing can be perfect, even the actual tyre model has some strange behavior which help players to get faster through an unrealistic driving technics, so I hope you will find a good compromise in a reasonable amount of time so you can bring a new life into LFS.

Thanks for your explanations Scawen, hope we can see the result of the new tyre modele asap. Smile

Nice update, hopefully we'll see more similar features for immersion in the near future.

Very nice addition, it's those little details that make the sim more and more immersive Smile.

No major bugs spotted so far.

Now some proper shadows and some new shaders for the track/cars and we can have an interesting looking game.

Quote from Cote Dazur :Driving looking at a flat 2D screen is more natural than driving using VR to you? Really? Thank you for making me smile .

Your life must be sad to smile at the preferences of others.

Quote from Ped7g :Once I put on my helmet and balaclava, it feels constrained in FOV a lot. It's definitely not the same as putting on VR head set, but having the limited FOV in VR feels to me quite natural, feels like race day on the track...

And about neck... turning around is least of your problem, it's just keeping the head straight/into corner, which hurts much more. Few laps with 2+G, and if you didn't ever train your neck, you will feel sore for few days... Big grin

But I prefer to use my eyes to see the mirrors instead of turning my neck all the time to expend field of view, it's more natural for me.

Quote from bishtop :fanboyism may not fill servers but such comments that constantly put lfs down would only make them emptier. Great graphics should never become more important that physics in a racing sim so little things like interiors are not important and as for real tracks yeah they would be great if added but not essential

So explain why the server list have nearly 0 active racing servers ?

I think the major downside of VR is the limited FOV that force you to turn your neck so you can see around, I think triple screen solution is the best for longer session because it's easier and more confortable to use the eyes to see around compared to the neck which cab surely become tired.

Quote from RC-Maus :I think many guys contribute Smile

Thats why there are more servers then players Na-na

So servers owners must play the game instead of actually hosting ? PetalsBig grin

Quote from MadCatX :That's exactly right and nobody is disputing that. The question to ask here is "why?". Racing servers need some management to keep the trolls and wreckers away. Another thing is competitiveness. Driving skills of individual players vary greatly which is why CTRA offered a few categories based on players' experience and lap times. That way everyone could join a race they would enjoy. There was also Wrecker Barricade that tried to keep away people who repetitively tried to ruin others' fun. These are just a few things I recall from the more lively days of LFS that made the online experience pretty great.

Communities don't just form by themselves. There always have to be a nucleus. There used to be a bunch of pretty active and resourceful people within LFS community which was why there were so many cool places for online racing. With these people gone and nobody new to take their place it's no wonder that the number of active players took a dive. It has very little to do with no new content, lack of progress reports, ambitions of the devs and whatnot. The center upon which the community was built broke apart and that's why there is no real racing community anymore. Cruisers and drivers keep showing us that one can still enjoy LFS as long as there are people with whom you can enjoy it!

The problem is actually many simracers already know about LFS but no one bothers about it anymore, those core members was gone because there is no racers to manage or wreckers to ban, how many times I saw some familiar usernames in AC or ISI forums, so we can assume that they didn't simply stopped simracing, but also we can ask why they are not interested in lfs anymore ? it's simply because they are already fed up of the current contents and they waited enough for something new, it's only natural for them to lose hope in this game and moving to somthing else.

And why nobody want to take their place ? obviously new servers admins tend to prefere popular and moderns sim where the userbase is the most active, even if those sims offer less flexibility or simplicity on the server side, but people is fine with it and they are enjoying their hobby because simracing is not only clear UI or simple server settings, but it's also graphics, physics and contents.

Quote from MadCatX :Here is a question I've been wanting to ask for a while. There seems to be a fair amount of people who keep "caring" about LFS. However, this "care" seems to be limited to babbling on the forum about how the devs should do this and that differently. Why don't you people actually do something substantial instead? You can revive something like CTRA for instance. With open configs you can create a bunch of new tracks, especially in SO, RO and WE. InSim itself is another mighty tool in LFS' arsenal... It's definitely not like you don't have the means to try and pour some fresh blood into LFS racing community.

You know, there is already 300 servers on the list, for exemple Cargame.nl is a fine place for racing but its now barely active, you can fill up the server list by another hundred servers by yourself if you want, but you can't attract people by doing that because racers userbase are a very tiny minority in LFS nowdays.

Unless you start a cruise or a drift server, or racing on 2 or 3 demo servers.

Quote from bobloblaw :There are 10 people in the "New version 0.6P - Updates in VR and controller support" thread using a vive or rift, if you include Scawen Smile. Also, forum users are a tiny subset of the users of the game, and VR support will attract new users. VR use will increase as hardware matures.

It's not like LFS will have the exclusivity of VR, other simulator has already an early good VR support so I don't see the game popularity changing if people with normal screen have already no reason to paly the game anymore.
