Quote from TheDeppchef :The funny thing is, there aren't "so much WRs under mouse/kb controllers".
And that is because it is NOT easier (at least in terms of car control).
Just show me all those WRs from mousers, I can't find 'em.

edit: Also, show me anyone who used to play with a mouse, than bought a wheel, and got slower because of that.

edit2: btw, why doesn't F1 use keyboard and mouse? It would look so cool. And it would be easier for them!

it might just be me, but i think you've missed out on some irony.. but again, it could just be that i sensed som irony/sarcasm where it wasn't supposed to be!

i agree.. but i'd like to hear a devs opinion on the initial post anyway! Tilt

because real cars ingame doesn't have to be expensive, as i mentioned with Tokyo Extreme Racing.. HUGE amount of real cars, but no factory names or licenses.. Thumbs up don't know if the same goes for LFS though, if someone (read: the devs) was going to implement more cars!

the reason i play around with LFS, is that it's closer to RL "everything" than any other game i know of.. that's why i'm so keen on having more cars.. actually, what i crave for, is a Gatebil version of LFS! Wink

dunno if you've heard of Gatebil (translates into streetcars), buts it's one of, if not the biggest gathering of car enthusiasts in northern europe, atleast in scandinavia (don't know if this is correct though, PR said so.. anyways..) i just wanted to post a few videos, so you can see what i would use LFS for, if it was possible.. (no way it will ever happen, but one can dream.. Big grin right?)

here are a few: Gatebil Rudskogen July 2006 - Gatebil September 2004 - Gatebil 2005: 1033bhp E34 (i guess a few people have noticed that i'm extremely fascinated by this car, and it's engine Thumbs up)

and another one.. quite a mix of cars! hehe! Gatebil 201m drag 2006 be sure to catch a glimps of the old dark audi 80 it's MAAD Big grin (also contains footage of the Norris evo)

you might recognize the green monster evo from Norris Design! it's a piece of art imo.. Thumbs up

this is just to give you an idea of what i want to use LFS for... messing around and having fun! Wink

i'm not too much into racing, atleast not like a few users on this forum.. as they're way more "puristic" than i am! Smile

btw, i've already prepared myself for the flaming.. Wink

way bad idea, since i haven't been able to buy a wheel yet.. i'm prioritizing food over LFS, and have been doing so the last year..

so, bad idea imo! excluding mousers and keyboarders is just lame..

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :I do wish people would use the correct name though. You never fire NOS into an engine, nor is NOS used as fuel. Want to know why? NOS = Nitrous Oxide System. NOS is a brand name for a company that make a kit that you bolt onto your car which feeds it N2O. NOS and N2O != The same thing.

Saying you want NOS in LFS could just mean you want a NOS energy drink in the game.

Quote from Woz :Yep, but because the NAWS mob don't understand the difference its the only way to talk with them

i'm slightly confused.. was any of this a comment on my post? don't think i used the expression wrong though..

uhhhh.. f*** it!

on the whole dragracing car with/without nos..

drag m3 7.70 sec

this one uses nos off the line to build boost faster.. atleast they stated this on the old car!

this m3 is a new shell with a spruiced up m5 3.8 engine from the e34 m5 you can see other vidoes from on this link

offtopic as he**, but you definately need to check out the gatebil footage, e34 m5 on the wild side 1033bhp and 1091nm on the track!

the cars can be modeled and setup by outsiders, so i don't really see lack of physics as an excuse for not having more cars..

but i guess you 1000+ posters have else to say... Razz

Quote from tristancliffe :You don't need real cars, or real car performances to make LFS a simulation. What you need is for the variables and values in LFS to give the right performance that you'd get in real life.

exactly what i was thinking!

it doesn't have to be a factory model.. it could be a similar chassis with a bigger engine/more power..

i wouldn't mind real cars in LFS, but since licensing is going to keep that from happening, i'll settle for the next best thing.. Tilt

i don't think you got my point.. is it retorical it's called?

i guess there'd be less online activity, but not for long imo.. cause people play LFS to race, and racing offline isn't too exciting in the long run..

but like me, i think, there are a lot of people who DO care about what the car looks like.. i can't be alone on being a car fanatic? Uhmm

and does RL physics have to come at the cost of beautiful cars? Frown
keltern

doubt it.. it would ruin them instead.. it costs!

that's all about what settings you haven't adjusted in LFS..

offtopic, but the rb4 is far more similar to a celica gt-four.. anyways..

i'm bored of the game, and i haven't really played it that much.. and to make it more interesting for me again, some new cars will have to be added.. and i'm sure i'm not alone on the matter!
keltern

i don't care if the cars are licensed or it they have the real names.. all i want is some lookalikes that i can admire ingame!

and if the cars are lookalikes only, people can't complain about what acts correct or not compared to RL!

like a old e30 m3 racer, how fancy wouldn't that be? or as it could be named in LFS: XR M (s38b36 anyone?)
keltern

yes, i know.. why not continue down that road?
keltern

in GT all the cars are licensed, atleast i think so..

and btw, RUF IS a tuning/car manufacturer!
licensing cars, or not?
keltern

Many people use the arguement that LFS-devs need license-agreements with the manufacturer(s), when talking about adding new cars (real cars) to LFS.

I don't know if it's as easy as it seems, but couldn't this be settled like Genki did with Tokyo Extreme Racer (aka "Tokyo Highway Battle Xtreme Racer Zero" and "Shutokou Battle Zero")?

The game contained MANY cars, but no official brands.. I just thought this was a way of avoiding the expensive licenses.

Was this a correct assumption? And can this be done in LFS as well?

(sorry for any major errors in this post, it got kind of messy! )

Quote from RMachucaA :I vote to tune in his ban.

FFS how many times do we have to read these "suggestions" from the drifters, theres a search button! USE IT! And no, we dont want tuning, thats why you have nfs, so you can drift and tune to your hearts content. This is a racing sim, not a drifting sim.

sorry if this is going to shock you, but it's as much a drifting sim as a racing sim..

well, the tuning issue can be solved very easily if someone's thinking of implementing the feature..

variable turbo- and gas-pressure for instance, could be enabled/disabled on server-level, right?

or if you want to take it further, you could have adjustable torque curves, so that people can adjust it to their liking?

just a couple of suggestions..
