Sometimes the chaos of the STCC servers is that you dont intentionally try to hit someone, but it happens. Everyone is vying for points. Best to do in that situation is ignore and keep on racing.
1)It is family tradition. I really dont hope that you think that I went out into a field shot a whatever, then left it for dead. Oh, no no no! Depending on what it is (or...was) we took it to get processed for meat, or the women of the family would cook it up that night for consumption. Ever had fresh Pheasant or Turkey?
2)In some parts of the United States, deer hunting controls the population. Not enough food for the winter combined with overpopulation means dying a horrible, diseased death. Also, more deer get hit by cars every year than from hunting. Why no natural predators, you say? Well, urban sprawl decreased the habitat of wolves, foxes, coyotes, etc. If that bothers you, tear down your house, ask your neighbors to do the same, and go live in a hut. There, now the natural predators can flourish again because you gave them back their habitat. The point I am trying to convey is, something has to be at the top of the food chain to control the population of lesser creatures, otherwise the population gets out of control and far worse deaths occur.
3)Here is the rather embarrassing point of hunting: sometimes you would hunt because it is far cheaper, because you didnt grow up so wealthy, in American standards. Partially the reason why people fish...
Yet I do not see any protests or condemnations in regard to that. Is it because fish are not appealing to the eyes? Not pretty or majestic? Hey, people put bait out to hook a fish, catch by yanking it out of its natural habitat, then let it drown in air, or put it into a tank so small it can just barely survive.
Face it. Humans are omnivores, we kill other animals to survive, even if you do not witness its death. If you did, would you continue to eat animals?
Does it take "incredible skill and unshakeable commeraderie" to go to your local market and pick up a pound of ground up cow?"
Please refer to this thread: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=18705Please post in that thread link if you are interested, a word of warning though; I will discriminate and only accept drivers who put some seat time in their chosen car and track, this being Westhill. I will send prospective drivers a PM to let them know if they are in or not.
It is a great concept in LFS league racing, and I would like to see YOU there!
It is the challenge and togetherness of it. When I used to hunt, it was with my uncle and cousins or friends, and half the reason was to be with family or friends on a quest. A few of my hunting experiences:
Deer hunting: was not the most challenging, especially with a 30-6 rifle, but when you do get a fair sized doe or buck it means you get to eat off of it for several months...and venison is excellent in any form.
Quail hunting: move slowly through the edge of a woods until the quail explodes and goes flying off. The take off like a Harrier jet in fast forward, then fly very, very fast away from you. When they do leave the ground, it is so sudden and violent it scares you silly, which is why this elusive wild chicken is such a bugger to hunt. Some lower mannered jerks "hunt" quail by shooting them at full choke with a shotgun while the quail are "graveling" at dusk. I have also heard of a type of quail in Northeatern America so stupid it will damn near paint a target on itself.
Turkey hunting: Turkeys have incredible eyesight and smell, so you have to cammo yourself to look like your enviroment, including your gun. And then you sit. And sit. Annnnd sit until a harem comes wandering near your direction after you use a turkey caller. Maybe. Turkeys have what I and many others call "harems", usually 2-3 males and plenty of females. Jennies are good for about 15-20 pounds, Toms can get near 23 or more pounds. The taste of a wild turkey is dependent on how long they have resided near a corn field. Same with deer.
Woodcock hunting: these are tough little birds to hunt, since they are pretty wiley and hide in thick saplings of dogwood. Also seem to favor areas near junkyards. Anyway, you use a Brittany retriever to fetch the Woodcock or you also use them for quail. The woodcock bird is really quite tasty to eat, but you have to get a big male to make a really full meal out of them.
I stopped hunting many years ago, when I was field dressing a older doe and my knife went the wrong way and urine went everywhere. I was so disgusted that from then on I couldnt hunt anymore. I still practice shooting with my 30-6, and, not bragging, I have a God given talent that runs in my family of being extremely accurate with a rifle. My Grandfather could light a match in a stump from 50 yards, and picked off rats that attacked my father when he was a child without hitting him.
Quite right. As much as I loath NASCAR, it is by far not the easiest of motorsports. Takes some real endurance and concentration from the drivers to do that lap after lap.
I think...and I am at this point just assuming! that he wants you to put two pieces of tape over your mouth, shave your head and eybrows, cut off your ears and turn beet red.
May you please make a single player replay and post on this thread? We would like to see the validity of your statement. Also, your argument for your point of view would be reinforced better by the use of, at the very least, by the use of proper wording and punctuation.
Let us pretend that Scawen reads this thread and says to himself "ah, screw it" and he and Eric make a one way hill track, and lets call it Aston Hill.
A few days after it is released to the LFS public, you see in the server list something akin to "touge drift" with Aston Hill reverse as the track. Scrolling down, you see "Aston hill climb" with Aston Hill normal as another option. And if you are interested in one versus the other, chances are you wont participate in the one you dislike.
Obviously.
So depending on what kind of racing you like, you can have it both ways...problem solved!
Oh my...you just negated your argument, you know. And who cares what Ian thinks?
The way people hunt on your island is a bit odd to this American...we just sit in the woods and wait for the damned deer or whatever we are hunting. I am assuming that this was a fox hunt, probably for some wealthy idiots, whom lack common sense but make up for it in "sang bleu".
What would it take, time wise, for Eric to render it and Scawen to digitalize it? We got the BF1 in April 2006, I am assuming that the 2005 F1 car was totally different then what we have...so can I assume 6 month of development for every new vehicle?
Thinking about the BMW, if Scavier could wrangle a deal like that, this car should be easy!
Exactly. Because of socialized medicine, our neighbors in Canada come here to have operations or treatment. Non socialized medicine also means having the best doctors, since let us be honest, money is what drives people to do better...especially in the American culture. I cannot speak for others, as I am not familiar.
Please list for me other PC based racing simulator demo that gives you online racing for no charge, 4 track combinations, 2 track configurations, 1 car park for 10 year olds to smash into each other, 3 vehicle choices and a forum to vent your discontent.
Go on! Start listing all of them!
I am waiting!!
*EDIT* You know what? I think demo users should get a different car and track. How about the UF1000 and the Kyoto Ring oval.
Something to ponder when it comes to supposed supernatural events, past or present, in relation to the concept of time: Humans are obsessed with numbers, and having something meaningful tied to them. In other words, I am debunking all the "the world will end or change significantly in the year XXXX" theories.
