Quote from Nick A :Any more thoughts on the format yet Jason? I know you mentioned teams of 3 but will we have some individual races too?

Yeah we worked the format out and there will be individual races in the afternoon. I think it goes something like this - Practice, then mini endurance, then full endurance, then individual races IIRC

You don't need a tent, but try to bring airbeds, and at least a sleeping bag

Not quite true Jamie. People are bored of the same tracks yes, but the people who have followed LFS for a long time USED to fix the boredom with the excitement of the upcoming features that Scawen would let us know about. This has cruelly been taken away from us now (ahhh bless), so we spend our time explaining to the new forum DriFt0rZ that the shikkockoi will be done when it's done......

Again, do we give a fook about a new car?
How long did it take for the fbm to get completely unused because everyone realised that the fox is simply a better car?
How long does it take for a new environment to get unused??
NEVER
Name me the ONLY advantage of iRental over LFS?
TRACKS+FFB

Why, you ask, is the ffb in iracing so much better than LFS?
Answer = TRACKS

If LFS had tracks with plenty of contours & bumps (we don't even need to go to the scanned route btw) then we would get the feeling of a real car on the road. This would bring LFS to a totally different level IMO, and would go a long way to improving the sim....

But, as I said, we need tracks, not reworked configs of old ones....

So, saying that, in the future of LFS's development I hope they go towards this route. It would then not be inconceivable that we could get to a point of user generated tracks, approved by the devs, with laser scanning etc. This would also get around the copyright issue...

I know for a fact that I would happily give the devs at least another £50 on top of my s2 license to see LFS move towards this way, but I know it is not a matter of money, just will

Wrong, IMO, they are working hard on LOADS of stuff atm, and an extra man would just slow the process down in Scavier's opinion.

The only difference is, we now have no idea anymore what the fook is going on as the moaning bitches that have destroyed our community have louder voices then me and others

I am not complaining at all regarding the development speed of LFS. My gripe is with the lack of information regarding it's progress, which I believe has had a negative affect on the community. I totally understand Scawen's reasoning, which he has stated quite clearly, but I urge him to reconsider his view. It seems to me that he has changed the way LFS works fundamentally, to please the wrong people....

I came into playing LFS quite late (4 years ago), but was lucky enough to witness it's evolution from the very beginning (2002), due to my brother and mates. What I saw was a sim developing with the community involved, and it seemed like a new way of doing things. That, in the last year, has been totally dumped in favour of a big game company approach, i.e. we will tell you about what we have done when it's done.

This has, in my opinion, had a tragic effect on the core followers of the LFS "project". The old skoolers who care so much about LFS and have avidly followed it's progress for the last 7 years, are now left with nothing but noobs, cruise servers and drifters posts, and moans about the Shicokko... I would bet a million dollars (if I had it) that most of the old community, who have been around for at least 3 years or so, couldn't give a flying f**k about the scirocco, but care deeply about what Scawen "wants" to do in the future.

This used to be the way LFS worked, but not anymore it seems....

The forum community, as it is now, needs to understand where the thousands of us, who have been around for a long time, are coming from. Show some respect to the Devs and also to the people (hosts, mods, programmers etc) who have made this sim what it is. If you do.... Maybe, just maybe, the Devs will give us back the LFS Project that we all have supported for so long, and stop listening to the pathetic whining little kids that have infected our sim

I don't disagree. It is getting quite worrying lately. Alot of our team, and others teams who have already closed, have put so much into LFS for the last 6+ years, and if things don't change soon, then I can see more and more people leaving LFS. DAMN YOU DEVS! This is my life

GAH!! So frustrating at times!!!

I have come to the conclusion that any server, be it ours or [FM]'s, is an absolute nightmare with big grids.

Even when you are racing at the front, a little tiny mistake creates absolute mayhem behind you, and if the guys you are racing at the front shows not enough respect, then the rest of the field suffers.....

The only solution as far as I can see, is to bring in a licensing system ala CTRA, but if anyone has a better idea then please tell me

BTW for anyone under any false impressions

This is going to be a proper Welsh meet, with sheep and shit, shitty track (well small but fun), no facilities, no timing and a weekend you will never, ever forget. No other UK Kart Meet has attempted to entertain & house you for the whole weekend, make you drive till your feet bleed and get you so pissed you don't where you are. So if it all goes horribly wrong, blame [SR] Mark, if it goes right, thank me All other Kart meets won't ever feel the same

Well I don't know what to say to most of those questions

But the food one, we will be eating before we leave, then we'll send one of the kart centre guys to the chippy for lunch. We are having loads of BBQ food later, so no point arranging anything fancy

Edit: received your money Scott

Ok everyone, just to let you all know, everything is booked, the deposit has been paid and it is now time to start getting organised...

If you can, bring with you the following items...

1. Towel & Toiletries
2. A sleeping bag (if you really can't bring one, I have some spare)
3. Soft shoes for racing in
4. A little spending money, £20 should be plenty
5. An airbed if possible

Also if you have a tent, then please bring it if you can.

I also need to start collecting the rest of the money, as I have to pay the kart centre 7 days before the event, and it takes 3-4 days to clear, so I realistically need all the money in by the 11th July. The money needed is £45 if you have paid your deposit, so £55 in total. This consists of £40 for the karting and £15 for the beer and food on the saturday night.

IMPORTANT!!!

Make sure you send any money via paypal as a gift, as I have lost out loads of money already with people sending normally, which I get charged by paypal for

------------
As far as I know, everyone is staying at my house for the whole weekend and are arriving on friday and leaving on sunday, so could you all please pm me where you are coming from and what time you are leaving your place and expect to arrive at where you need picking up from. Hopefully we can sort out an efficient way for everyone to get to mine with the least amount of time & money spent

Plan

Friday - Pick everyone up, eat take out, sleep at a decent hour....

Saturday
09:00 - go for brekkie local cafe
09:45 - leave for kart centre
10:15-17:00 - RACE!!
17:00 - leave kart centre
17:50 - get drunk, have bbq, PARTY!!
the rest? who cares

Any questions, now is the time to ask

Sorry for the late reply ant. The total number is based on, like Mark said, 10 cars on track, so teams of 3. If anyone drops out, then of course that would change things. I will only know in the next few weeks when I ask for the full amount of money, which I need to start taking now...

How many people were you thinking of?

We could possible have a few more, but it would mean splitting some teams into 4...

As I said, training would have to be improved greatly. I personally have never completed the training but if it were to be rethought out, then I believe it could work. I know LFS is an online Racing Simulator but it would be nice if in the future the Training could be turned into a single player game in itself.

Maybe us users could come up with some ideas of how it could work? All the content is already there, it would just need Scawen to improve the AI and restructure the training. This would I believe open LFS to a whole new market and could really boost the online numbers. I think something like this wouldn't work until we went to S3, but for a minimal amount of effort on Scavier's part could give the game a new dimension.

+1 to morpha's idea. We could then create different access to servers depending on the training level, ofc if it is improved first.

I'm sure someone is coming from that way, but if not and it is easier to get a train direct to cardiff, we can pick you up from there.
