I've made a server for Z31 if anyone wants to test it out, [SR] Z31 Racing.

Everything works as said, with race positions and tyre rubber

Surely the point is, our movements, internet histories and frankly anything that we haven't EXPRESSLY given perimission for shouldn't be in the public domain without our express agreement.

They get around this by saying it is in the terms when we last updated our software, but how the hell are we supposed to read 100 pages of terms when they update them every few months...

Regards the OP, apparently it is in the terms when you installed ios 4.x, so according to them, we agreed and they can do what they like...

It is wrong, in a big way imho... I expect a few major lawsuits in the next few years to give us, the people paying their freaking wages, some rights back.

You can say it doesn't matter, "I am doing nothing wrong", but when your insurance quote for your car, or your health insurance goes up 1000% because of something you did (or didn't do), that they only know about because of how your internet or phone was used, it will matter then.

We are at a point in society where the big companies can easily access so much information about you and they want more, alot more. It is up to us, the people paying for their goods, to say enough is enough.

People used to be afraid of what the goverment would do with this information to control society. I personally am more afraid of what the big companies will do with it. They have no reason to use it "for the good". The only purpose for them is to make a profit..

Forget the old skool goverment conspiracies, this is happening, and you all know it for a fact. If apple can do this and we accept it, then the next stage will be even more intrustion. Little steps make big strides in time...

Before we know it, we won't have private lives, unless we refuse to use the internet, which will be almost impossible. Google, apple, microsoft, yahoo etc, they want to know everything about you. I personally don't care what they know, but I don't want to live in a world where they know everything either...

Yeah but Kev, the point of this patch is to help us normal racers aswell. We need content, Scawen has provided it with the minimum of effort, it is now up to the community to provide layouts and servers with these new combos.

Quote from boothy :would it be possible to implement a positions list for autocross/open layouts, which updates on crossing of splits, rather than real time? The positions list is quite important, and would make everything a lot easier in autocross/open tracks.

+1

Also Victor, LFS remote is pretty messed up with the new patch (positions wise), though it has the correct info to make it work

I agree with ben and dawesdust here. I have recently signed up for iracing again for a year after 2 years out, and I can honestly say it does absolutely nothing for me. I had a great deal, something like £45 for a year, and feel ripped off already

There is zero support for teams, completely unfriendly atmostphere, shit, absolutely shit racing and it feels like a chore to play it, rather than fun.

1. Why can they not let us have a simple system like lfs where we can see from our own websites who is online and where? Why don't they do it? Beats the hell out of me....

2. The racing is shit, because like you said, it is either people who are so scared of losing SR they move over as soon as you approach them, or are so mad that they take you off, costing you 10 races worth of clean racing. IMHO a great idea, implemented terribly. The effect that the SR system has on the racing experience is devastating to my experience of the sim, which brings me to my next point.

3. Damage/collision model - Do they have one? You touch a car, 4X SR hit, then your car miraculously cannot turn, not matter how small the hit, or where it hit you, wtf, seriously, I am paying a shed load of money for this piece of shit!

4. Brakes/physics - Why the hell does any car, no matter what, spin out if you brake without having some accelerator on? Do real cars do that? ARGHHHHHHHHH

Anyway, I have ranted a million times about the problems with iracing, and I think LFS is a million times better product aswell as value, but....

We need an update badly. The present z30 is perfect for what we have been crying out for, some much needed content. It will keep us busy for a few months at least. 1 month out of Scawens time I think is perfectly acceptable considering the delays with the VW, S3 and the physics patch. Let's just hope we don't get too many requests for this patch and he gets on with the real patch...

Thank you Scawen for releasing this Patch. IMHO this is what the community needs at this time.

Like I said in previous posts, if we (you and us) had known that the tyre physics would take so long, then all we ask is something to keep the diehards occupied

FTR, I agree with Forbin, but everyone who knows me knows that

I would say though, that this is NDR's event and they have the right to run it how they like. It makes the races more exciting for the spectators and the people who mess up.

iRacing co-founder, chief executive and chief technical officer Dave Kaemmer announced today that he will be taking a six month sabbatical to pursue the one passion that rivals his love of virtual tire-modeling: cycling.

Effective April 1, Kaemmer will be devoting all his considerable energies to preparing for the upcoming TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship, the longest running and most important single day cycling road race in the United States. Kaemmer will join the prestigious Equipe Poincaré in the June 5 event, which consists of 10 laps of a 14.4 mile circuit in the City of Brotherly Love.
“If there’s anything that brings me more satisfaction than working with quaternions, eigenvalues and coefficients of friction it’s crushing the heart and soul of a competitor in a bicycle race,” said Kaemmer. “It’s long been my goal to compete in road cycling at the very highest level of the sport.
“As everyone at iRacing knows, I’ve been working flat-out on a new, state-of-the-art tire model for quite some time now. We’re close to a major breakthrough so I want to take some time to clear my head, then come back fresh and finish the job.”
“On behalf of everyone at iRacing, I want to extend my best wishes to Dave on what I’m sure will be a successful venture into the realm of competitive cycling,” said iRacing president Tony Gardner. “Dave has devoted nearly every waking hour – and some non-waking hours as well – to iRacing’s new tire model over the past few years. We’re looking forward to him resuming work on the project come January.”
Although Kaemmer is currently focused on his pro cycling debut in Philadelphia, Equipe Poincaré has a place remaining on its squad for the 98th Tour de France, which commences on July 2. Team officials have indicated Kaemmer’s performance in the TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship could well earn him the opportunity to wear the maillot puce with Equipe Poincaré’s familiar
ct√(-1) insignia in the French cycling classic.

So no tire physics updates for a long time then :P April Fool
