It ain't fun. Basically you don't feel good at all ehile it's happening because you can't tell how the hell it's going to end up. Road cars are so crap in terms of deformation that even low speed impacts can do serious harm.
I got lasered once and they pulled me out about 100 meters after the measurement. Since a laser doesn't take pictures this is the only way to get a ticket.
BTW, are you saying that he was measuring your speed with a laser while following you with his car? I think you can only use the laser when you're stationary.
Agree with you there. Pointing at cars all the time is just a cop out to not have to think about far more unpopular concepts like nuclear power for developing countries or controlling the size of human population.
It can be. They just need to employ a group of people (mathematicians, physicists, engineers, computer scientists) whose sole purpose is to create a simulator and throw more resources at them than any game devs (usually non-engineers) can ever hope for. I think thats' whats going on in F1.
I could do megaupload if you want, but all the other ones I've used are too unreliable or too crap (youtube) for my liking. Say yes and I'll upload it.
PS: What specific problem are you having with rapidshare?
Here's another on board clip for you guys. It's the last few minutes of q3 with footage from FA, FM, KR and LH. None of the laps looked really impressive but Silverstone just is a great track to watch F1 cars at high speed.
Good question. I used to think it was obvious to most people but have learned by now that this attitude is by no means universal.
IMO if you respect someone you obviously don't want to see him suffer. I think most will agree that when you are personally suffering you don't want cameras and lot's of people and strangers around you. Why should this not apply to death?
I'm finding it difficult to express exactly why it's wrong to me but I think at the end of the day it's a privacy issue. People should die in peace, not witnessed in great detail and slow motion by millions of people, many of who are using the victim to satisfy some kind of instinctive bloodlust.
I think the main misunderstanding on this topic is that you're not paying for a special high res version of LFS, you're paying for the extra bandwidth that larger files in the auto skin download system cause.
There's no point comparing the price or the quality of the graphics or the resolution of the skins or the size of the files to any other games as there simply are no other games that have an auto skin download system.
It's just a command to shutdown your PC. And I don't see how attaching a file here that shuts down the PC of anyone who runs it is "harmless". Most real viruses have far less severe effects.
IMO you don't go side by side through chicanes. One driver needs to back off or it's a shunt. Heidfeld was the one that needed to back off but he decided to take the escape road instead. And again, Heidfeld made no complaints whatsoever.
Heidfeld himself said after the race that he enjoyed his battle with FA a lot and that he thought everything was fair. He even said he was going to have a talk with Alonso to make sure he also thought everything was fair.
I thought it was great in the interview how happy NH was about actually having enjoyed the race. Many others would have been full of complaints, moaning etc. after being beaten fair and square by their team mate.
Yeah, I guess stuff still works, but still strange that IE and FF1.5 don't do this.
I'll get used to it...
EDIT: the problem with the example link I gave above is already gone. Probably means that this problem occurs too rarely to seriously get on anyone's nerves.
Today I finally got around to upgrading FF from 1.5 to 2.0. I was happy to find that FF is now a lot faster rendering pages, as fast as IE in fact.
But there's one little problem with FF2. When a page is loading the hourglass cursor doesn't change into a normal cursor until all images are loaded. This means that when an image link is broken or takes a long time to load, the cursor stays in hourglass mode all the time. Quite annoying.
Strange thing is that Google doesn't seem to know about this problem so either I've messed something up or nobody gets annoyed by this...
Can anyone help? Open this link and witness that the cursor never changes back to normal: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=25496 The IE status bar tells me that an image from battleoftheteams.net is loading forever.
Just LOL. By that definition simracing is in fact the only form of pure racing: you can't hurt yourself in any way, either physically or financially.
But you're right that karting sets the standard at the end of the day, as that's where the car drivers come from. At the same time that's part of the reason why we see crashes like Kubica, Glock and Viso.
Another point I have to give to AS: In real life the clerk of the course doesn't give a s***. Two examples from Norisring last weekend. No penalties given.
I'd say it's closer to less than enough than more than enough. But either way, you were taking an unnecessary risk. Driving half a metre further to the right wouldn't have hurt your race in any way at all.
