Ron Dennis is rumoured to have said that he's fed up with both drivers' behavior and if they don't like the equal status policy they are free to leave at the end of the year.

Quote from fantom :There is a video recorded by one of our LFS racing mates (VüMi - volgyesi995) on site. Even if the quality is not that good I really enjoyed watching it.

http://volgyesi995.extra.hu/norbi.wmv

VüMi tried to follow Norbi's race and actions as much as possible so for me this video provides a much better coverage than the Eurosport one. Thank you VüMi for making it public.

Well done, Norbi! I hope we will see you again in this fast car (or in a much faster one?)

Great vid! As if I was at the track myself.

Quote from Lotesdelere :Deinterlace is disabled by default in VLC. You have to manually enable it through the Video menu (usually use BOB) and it works pretty fine for me

Exactly. First bad thing is that deinterlacing doesn't kick in automatically, second bad thing is that the deinterlacer is nowhere near as high quality as the hardware GPU deinterlacers that get used with "proper" players and decoders.

VLC is still unbeatable for portability n00b friendliness though.

VLC is no good for interlaced stuff though, which the clip is.

But is there a point to motorsports if putting the best drivers in direct competition is something that needs to be avoided?

The things going on at McLaren in the last few days have made me lose some respect for both drivers. Ron Dennis should be applauded for his equality policy inside the team, which is so refreshing after the Schumi era.

Instead his drivers are acting like girls. One of them is unhappy that he isn't team Nr.1 and isn't willing to get along with his team mate because he has been beaten by him a few times.

The other one disobeys orders and insults the whole team plus boss on the radio severely enough to make most of the team not even want to talk to him anymore.

Maybe it's just not possible to have two equally strong drivers in one team without these kind of problems? If that's the case then F1 should ditch the whole "team sport" idea and go to two opposing teams inside a team, using the same car. The alternative, a no1 and a no2 driver within a team, isn't even worthy of the label sport.

That would not be the kind of team I would want to drive for, where a fishing trip is more important than a prospective driver.

Hmm, few people are in a position to be picky...

Another update:
In the FIA report it sounds like FA is making some stupid excuse for holding up LH on purpose (asking about the tyres).

Norbert Haug now explained this in more detail. They put old tyres on FA's car, he saw this from inside the car and had a short discussion with the engineer as to the reason why the tyres were old.

TBH this explanation is the first one that makes sense to me and makes everything click into place. The problem with the assumption that it was a dirty Alonso trick is that I can't imagine that he has enough information as a driver to actually be able to time a maneuver like that correctly.

Still odd that it takes a whole day to come up with an explanation that makes sense. If the current version is true then why didn't they sort it out in the PC after quali?

Anyone know how to recognize the "LFS car"?

Oh.

So the current status is that Alonso is a cheat and he and Ron Dennis are liars.

I might have to do some rethinking about which team and driver to support...

I wouldn't say it's really a part of motorsports in any real life sense. But I don't mean that in a dismissive way. What I mean is that if you were to go inside any normal racing paddock and ask the people there about drifting the majority wouldn't be bashing it, they just wouldn't know it even exists.

So basically drifting has to be able to stand on its own feet if it wants to gain more acceptance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I don't know enough about drifting to know if there already is a commercially viable series in some part of the world.

The point I'm trying to make is that drifters are always talking about racers vs drifters when in fact drifting is still far too low key for any kind of dispute to even begin.

Saying "FIA doesn't recognize drifting as an official form of motorsport" is like saying FIFA doesn't recognize public ball juggling as a form football.

Ron says Hamilton disobeyed orders, making the pit stops go out of sync, and Alonso was being counted down by his engineer.

True or not? If the FIA check the team radio there should be a definitive answer to this for us all by tomorrow at the latest. Then we can stop jumping to conclusions and making up BS here...

The incident is being investigated. RD will be heard and the team radio will be reviewed. If it turns out that FA did what it looks like he did then he's a disgusting cheat.

Wow, Porsche Supercup is serious stuff. Of the drivers behind him I only know Marc Basseng and he's been driving Porsches for years and years. Hope Norbi can go forwards in the race.

Try this:

In WMP Tools/Options/Performance/Advanced/use high quality mode

if it doesn't help try using a decent player (Zoom Player, MPC), upgrade WMP to newest version, update GPU drivers to newest version etc.

Either way, there's nothing LFS can do about it.

I think it's a non-issue. If you would calculate the percentage people racing vs people who would like to go racing there woldn't be a significant difference between male and female. In DTM there are two women, in F3 there have been as much as three in a field of 20 men. In that case that means seven times as many men than woman. I think we can safely assume that men as a whole are at least seven times as interested as women to get into racing so I don't see any sexism going on here.

If a girl has the funding and the talent to win races, nobody will stop her. DTM has had Ellen Lohr winning races and Michel Mouton was challenging for WRC titles at the time of Group B and Walter Röhrl so it certainly isn't true that a woman's brain is "wired up wrong". Even if true on average, it says nothing about individual people.

Lean your body weight to the outside of the corner not the inside. The reason is that Karts don't have diffs so unloading the inner rear wheel well reduce understeer. Also the brakes are only on the rear so you can use your left foot to help turn in very effectively.

Good luck! Did I understand you right that you have sufficient funding to go single seater racing? Or are you hoping someone will let you drive because of talent? Either way, get as much kilometers as you can, no matter what kind of vehicle, even if you think you are too old for Karts.

Quote from ColeusRattus :
But the debate of global warming has reached an almost religious level. Just look at this thread. Anyone to oppose the very idea which is far from scientific fact, that we cause the warming is yelled at.

Yes, I too often think the discussion of global warming is very religious. But not in the same way that you do.

The way I see it the essential question we should be discussing is "Can the human race improve it's chance of survival, improve future standards of living and reduce suffering by actively controlling the amount of global greenhouse gas output?"

Instead the question is usually raised in a "are humans harming mother nature?" manner. This implies that there is a greater rule, a way of nature, a way of god that mankind must be careful not to interfere with. For example the whole argument about whether the earth has been hotter/colder in the past. Why does it matter? We all know that there have been ice ages and we all know that an ice age is absolute disaster for most species of the earth. But because the ice ages came about without human influence they were "normal" and "nothing to worry about"?

We know the earth is getting warmer and we know that this is bad for the species that are currently living on it. Why do we even need to discuss if it's mankind's fault or not? We should discuss how we can improve the situation i.e how to reduce global greenhouse gas output.

IMO on the issue of global warming many people are being religious instead of rational without even realizing it.
