Quote from S14 DRIFT :Give over and get over yourself.

Pikey is a word nowadays used to describe anyone who wears baseball caps, shell suits and white trainers while hanging around in Budgens trying to nick packets of fags. Normally we call Gypsies "Jippos/Gyppo".

If you consider Pikey racist then I'm afraid you weren't educated on the Apartheid. Besides, are you part of the "PC Crew" who ruin things which 98% of us find funny and non offensive because you like to be a PITA?

I suppose you've witnessed the effect of racial abuse towards gypsies have you? You're integrated into the community and obviously have a full understanding of the quite bizarre and frankly disgusting attitude they face from general society? No? Thought not!

It's like we've gone back in the time to the 70s when it was OK to have the minstrels on TV, and negro an accepted term of black people. And no one in the last thirty years has ever used 'p*ki' to merely describe someone from pakistan, that's complete and utter nonsense. The term pikey is a racial slur against gypsies, full stop. Not just another word for 'chav'. don't be so naive.

I am ALL for freedom of speech. I don't think there should be any laws against it. However I find the hypocrisy appalling from the moderators on this forum. They think pikey is an acceptable and humorous term, yet n*gger is not?

Gypsies have had to cope with the same, if not worse brutality throughout history than any racial group, including hundreds of thousands slaughtered in concentration camps during WWII & having slavery imposed on Roma gypsies as well as ethnic cleansing and general hatred towards them. there is example after example of brutality towards gyspy people through history.

but yh, it still appears ok to use the term pikey. It's so funny celebrating the historical and current hatred towards gypsies. HHmm.. the reason 90% think it's funny is because they are stupid.

Pikey is now used as a generic term to abuse gypsies of all descents - irish or romany. It's like saying the p-word only refers to people from Pakistani origin... it does not.

Gypsies are now protected under the Race Relations Act and I, as many other do as well, consider the term pikey racism. You can argue whether Romany gyspies are an ethnic group or a race until the cow comes home. I consider Romany gypsies a race of people as they share many of the characteristics of a any given race - Different appearance, language, and culture. Not that anybody would actually know because they are blinding by their own ignorance

The term pikey is no different to the n-word or the p-word. If it said "N***** - Just nick it" it would be gone by now. But will that above post get removed? No.

Vettel has had the best car all season long. Put Alonso, Button, or Hamilton in it and you would see very similar results. Webber makes the RBR look worse than it is.

Video is Vettel V Button Suzuka Pole lap and how Vettel beat Button.
What do people think when watching this video?
Do you think, after watching this video, that the Red Bull was so much superior to the Mclaren? What about the Renault V Mercedes engine?

If you watch this video and go with it, you watch how much better setup the Mclaren is to the Red Bull, but Vettel still takes the pole.

Note, Vettel was able to beat the Mclarens, however, Webber couldnt. What does this say?

Im not asking rhetorical questions to say Its all Vettels work here, but more what do you think..

it says Webber isn't as good as he should be, however that suits RBR because a solid #2 driver is far better for winning championships.

The McLaren is now at least on par with the RBR, but it's all too little too late.

They did have an advantage, and Plato was right to moan otherwise they would have been even further down the road. Anyway, it's all equal next year

I've been extremely lucky enough to interview Dan on two occasion. You could not meet a more friendly and approachable professional racing driver. I'm, as is everyone, devastated.

http://twitter.com/#!/ashleyjudd - she says vital's are OK according to what Dario has been told. Not sure what we can gauge from that.

This is apparently a pic of him getting on the chopper - http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/t ... P111016125713_620x350.jpg

Looks like head injuries.

I enjoyed how the DRS zone actually removed an overtaking opportunity into T1.

You spoke too soon, it's back to Hamilton again.

He took less risks, which could account for his dip in 'form'

...but having the best car for the first 7 races allows you to build an early lead and force everyone to take risks while you can take it easy. For me that's the crucial part. Overall the RBR was a 'better car', just not at the vital moments of the season. At the start of the season RBR probably took more risks than they had to because of the dominance of the Brawn.

I would take a dominant early season car, than a latter dominant one. It allows you to build a comfortable points lead, and that's far more important in championships.

Quote from sinbad :You'd have to put Button on the list too, then, if you're looking at the season as a whole. Brawn were hanging on by the finger nails from about the 7th GP onwards, when RBR hit the front.

Hmm... Brawn were without competition for the first GPs. For the latter season RedBull had to compete with McLaren and Ferrari started coming on strong.

So looking at the season as a whole, the complete Brawn dominance for the first GPs held a greater value than RedBull dominance at the latter stage of the season. It's not just whether the car is fastest, it's WHEN the car is fastest and how much competition it has at that stage that matters.

Overall the Brawn was the best car because it was fast at the right time in the season.

Quote from Storm_Cloud :
Sure, he would not have won 2008 WDC had that happened, but he could have reaped the benefits (and the titles) for years to come and perhaps become a more rounded and pleasant individual (see Button, or Alonso, or Hakkinen, or Senna etc)

Do you know anything at all about Hamilton, or do you just crib other people's opinions from a position of rank ignorance?

Stop being a hypocrite.

I sighted Senna because a lot of what was written about him at the time didn't reflect his true character. And had we had the internet now it would have been even worse. Plenty of people, at the time, had a massive dislike for Senna and HIS character. Time has eroded that though.

Senna a 'pleasant' person? Take your rose tinted glasses off. Senna was a ferocious person. He drove Prost off the circuit deliberately ffs, and he wasn't largely liked by the public outside of Brazil because they thought he was a nobhead.

Had the internet and media network we have now existed in the 80s and 90s they would have destroyed Senna.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :Dygear, the article in Autosport (about 3 weeks back) stated some, unnamed, McLaren personnel are privately concerned about Hamilton. Yes, McLaren as a whole might not care what he does, but some people within McLaren do.

Also he is representing McLaren, so they do have an interest in what he does. But I don't think his head is in the game any more, he's more focused on what his management tell him to do.

Also, consider the fact that all through his career, McLaren have supported him and he's been in consistently good equipment. Does he know what it is like to be in a bad car?

MP4-24 was a heap of shite for the first half of the year, and in 2001 McLaren provided him with shite gear for the World Karting Championship campaign. He knows how to deal with shit equipment.

His main problem is he has a gf who's getting brudy and he has put himself too far in the celebrity limelight. I knew as soon as he got with nicole it's be bad bad bad news.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Equally, it's his opinion and he can do whatever he wants with it.

If you saw someone lighting cigars with $100 bills would you just think 'It's his money, good for him!' or 'This man appears to be a total dickhead'.

That's what governments do on a regular basis and every screams "hurrahhh" lol
