And the reason you didn't bother to search and think you'd be first to suggest such (suggested to death already) items was?

People shouldn't be asking for such apps IMO... the people who do clearly have no idea what's involved in coding. Skin requests, renders, sure.. they're relatively simple and quick (in comparison to coding) to do.. asking someone to "write a insim" is just takin' the piss IMO.

I'm all for people asking for help to better their knowledge, asking for it to be done for them is just a no-no.. unless someone's first putting up the £££.

Quote from Fabri91 :That would be very nice!
It feels strange to drive another game's circuit...

My plans back then (~2 years ago) was to convert / rebuild LFS entirely. The devs gave permission (and is also in the CMX readme, they pointed out to me) to convert the cars provided credit was given (never a problem IMO) although the tracks maybe a different story, something that would need to be asked.. but I started Westhill for personal use and to see how easy it would be to recreate (a bit different from creating my own fictional tracks where I can make the rules up as I go so to speak).

Haven't really been involved in rF modding now for some time, just a few bits of info here and there regarding file structure mainly, but track building is fun. I hope one day I'll be able to do things in reverse, and create fictional tracks for LFS instead, but that's for a different (done to death) discussion.

I'll have a scout around on my backup DVDs and see if I managed to save what I had of Westhill before my HDD had a shitfit.. who knows...............

Quote from Fabri91 :Want Blackwood Rallycross?

Heh.. Maybe I'll finish my version of Westhill sometime (used a large overhead shot as a blueprint to try and recreate it accurately). Would probably be sweet with the Vette.. unfortunately, I didn't get as far yet as getting it in-game.

Please.. nurse... someone help! my sides are splitting!.. no, really. There again, the opening statement "Ok, so I was drifting......." says it all.

I'm really glad this thread was created, I'll sleep so much better now knowing that if I add a stupid bit of electrical tape to my DFP, I'll become an instant comedian....... move over Lee Evans!

Quote from mikey_G :The main problem with this thread is that you never give credit to the guy who coded tweak. You don't even give a link to the forum post.
If you were going to do something like that with an app that I spend a lot of time on to make it useful, and you don't even credit or mention me, then I'd seriously be pissed. And I'm sure every developer sees it that way.
Imo all this could have been prevented if you gave links to the original post, mentioned who made it, and if you didn't put it in the unofficial addons section.

That'd be pointless.. someone else is already maintaining a list, so he'd be losing some possible attention. I'd be pretty annoyed too if he'd done it with one of my apps.. I'm more than capable of distributing my own software without an interfering kid getting involved. I dread to think what his reaction is when his school teachers say "right children, today we're going to have a brain storming session........".

I really can't believe the sheer number of idiotic threads that have been started recently by sad, childish attention seekers. It's almost embarrassing to be apart of the same community.

Quote :I know it's hard to think and apply common sense, but please try it sometime before you hit the submit button.

As one of my old bosses used to say when I worked as a barman for a while... "the one thing with common sense, is that it's not very common".. never a truer word spoken IMO.

Might have been BarryBoys that IIRC, had a 'shed of the week' contest.

The site's always good for a laugh anyay.

Quote from TypeRCivic :Funny thats it's idiot proof and very true, I'm importing a .obj file from the CMX viewer and I'm trying to add a darn skin and what not, I dont want to edit the exhisting wireframe, I want to do what I did with blender and right now I'm having crappy luck trying to figure it out

Alternatively.. even easier.. dS Autos. Only 2 cars that require 3DS v8 are the RB4 and LX6 as those scenes were created by MorroW.. but all the others that I did will load straight into 3DS v7. You will however, need brazil to get started, unless you go through and change the materials to something else (mapping will remain intact still).

Granted, the scenes are far from good in their stock format, but an easier choice for you to get going and then modifying the scenes to your own desires like most have adopted to doing now (thankfully).

Quote from Bob Smith :Ian - that post is out of line and not called for. A pointless and stupid thread it may be but insults like that are only going to earn you time off.

Sorry Bob.. just yet to see anything of any use coming from that fella. Haven't you ever asked such a question to someone face to face before? I have on various occasions if they prove to be damn right stupid for the majority of the time.

Lack of knowledge, we all go through and is acceptable, stupidity isn't something I do accept.. but your forum, your rules (per-se).. I'll refrain from seeing / replying to his posts in future.

Quote from Skil :Thanx mate! There is many things to learn about LFS

No probs.. glad you're sorted.. and yup, there's plenty of things to learn regarding LFS, especially LFSWorld.. Vic's done a great job of creating a goldmine of info there.

Quote :Who knows, maybe I'll write some add-on myself. Bdw, which programming language / IDE you wrote this application in?

It's coded in C++ using Borland Dev Suite 2006. The core of the app (the grid) is a 3rd party component from DevExpress.

Quote from Skil :How to obtain the ID form lfsworld.net? I understand it's not the user name. I've been looking everywhere and couldn't find it

Direct link: http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=settings&whichTab=pubstat

Manual method:
My LFSW Settings -> Pubstat access [tab]

You'll find a 'Generate Ident-key' button at the bottom of that window.

When I get everything added that I want for the next update, I'll change the info in LRM to point a direct link to the pubstat window to hopefully save future confusion.

Quote from tikshow :Is it possible to use the Bespoke rims in 3D Studio Max? If it is, how?

Nah it's not, or at least, not without some serious coding to extract the wheel info from memory and create a valid 3D mesh from it.

Bespoke just changes some memory registers, the wheels never actually exist per-se.

Aren't those wheels for Bespoke? If so, no, you can't use them.. but there's shedloads of wheels available on the net.. which you can then add with the method Davo mentions.

IMO, 72 x 4 is a perfect size for .sigs, and _all_ images should be disallowed, quotes too as they're pointless and cumbersome.

Thankfully, the likes of those shitty userbars are easily blocked in firefox with adblock

Shame they couldn't pick a decent car to release free.. but there again, they hardly produce anything worthy of charging for anyway, IMO but a BMW!? uGH! Any other car would have been better.

Quote from Tweaker :I highly disagree. You'd be surprised just how clean and universal proper CSS code is if you do it correctly. Hell, if I code my own sites I am nothing perfect, but there is A LOT one should know about CSS before saying it is crap. The only thing that really creates barriers with what you try and design, is the kind of site you are trying to make... and knowing what is or isn't possible. An example being when designers want to make a specific block area and use way too many float and block variables... it gets really messy. Just a new generation of old school html-style coding so to speak.

People only claim CSS is crap because they simply don't get it, and m$ runtpage doesn't handle it well, so they use tables embedded in tables embedded in tables embedded in tab............... and claim to be a web deezyner! :cool: Tables are for tabular data, no more, no less

In regards to Bob's question.. the following should work. Note I only added borders around the elements etc to make them stand out and easy to identify for this example.

<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>
<style>
body {
width: 100%;
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
}

div#top-box,
div#bottom-box {
width: auto;
height: 100px;
border: 1px solid #B8D1F8;
clear: both;
}

div#middle-boxes {
width: auto;
}

div#middle-boxes div#right-box {
width: 300px;
height: 100px;
border: 1px solid #B8D1F8;
margin: 20px 30px 20px auto;
float: right;
}

div#middle-boxes div#left-box {
width: 300px;
height: 100px;
border: 1px solid #B8D1F8;
margin: 20px auto 20px 30px;
float: left;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="top-box">
Top box
</div>
<div id="middle-boxes">
<div id="right-box">
Right box
</div>
<div id="left-box">
Left box
</div>

<div id="bottom-box">
Bottom box
</div>
</body>
</html>

Quote from mcgas001 :Hi All

i need a question answered and i cant realy seem to find what im looking for....im about to buy a PC just to host but i dont want to spend stupid money on a pc/server. ive been offered a 400mhz pc with 96mb ram and a 10gig hard drive.i dont know if a Dedi will work on that and if it does at first how many people would that take before a crash or maybe lag in the game.

thanks in advance for help

When I run a dedicated sever from home, it runs on a PII 350 with 320Mb RAM through WINE as the OS is FreeBSD

The 320Mb RAM I'm sure isn't needed.. it just happens to be in there.

I used to have to restart the LFS server every 4 or so days depending on amount of traffic, but I think that was more to do with WINE than LFS.. so YMMV.
