I only meant the steering thing as an analogue to what you're doing with the brake. Exploiting the possibility of making something hard a bit easier because of imperfections in our software and hardware. I just wanted to ask would it be fun if you could also tweak your other inputs so that you get a good result out of poor input.
Would it also be fun if you set up your car so that it navigates a perfect line through a corner by turning full lock, or makes perfect starts by flooring the gas?
Of course it could be a server side option, player will be forced to spectate if he enters the wrong grid etc., and besides it only took about 5 years for us to learn how to take T1 somewhat cleanly, so why couldn't we learn doing warm up laps?
I see the warm up lap as a necessity for a complete realistic racing experience, just like false starts, clutch heat and other things we didn't have just a while ago.
On my system (3500+, 7900GS, 2 gbit, ubuntu 8.04, wine 1.0) LFS runs identically and almost as fast as on XP (< 20% difference), but it's not worth playing at all without the full support of G25. LFS (and drunken RBR with friends sometimes) is the only thing why I still have Windows at home.
And I wouldn't recommend the commercial (wine based) cedega, since the developement of Wine will get further, if it isn't already. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedega#Present
Don't take this personally, but I don't see a point in "designing" configs like these, let alone completely new venues with paint (which is the uttermost stupidity). If the devs would want to make new some configs, I think they have enough talent to pick the best new routes on their existing venue without the help of 2nd class MSPAINT artists.
Same goes with the car suggestions. Of course I can't speak in behalf of anyone, but at least I have this feeling that giving endless combination of the basic specs like weight, power, drive train etc. can only interest other daydreamers and contributes nothing to the devs.
EDIT: UnknownMaster, I wasn't referring in your actual paint skills, but using mspaint as a track design tool in general instead. Your red line was just as good as anybody elses
Just for the record, wasn't the AI modified so that they don't learn anymore?
Inspired by this thread I tried to race with a full grid of AI and it really was as horrible as described. Don't try that at home folks, stay online instead!
While it's obvious that the classics you posted are closer to conventional music than the more modern crap, I still failed to like any of the songs as a whole. It's just the basic elements - rhythmic vocals and looping background, that are a total turn-off for me (This song from a band I like is another good example). I don't mean that these songs suck, no. I just fail to get anything out of them. I don't even understand most of the lyrics at all, as I can only speak English 'ok', not well enough to understand poetry or fast paced pronouncing of slang terms with a ghetto accent.
Funnily enough this opinion comes for a guy who wore baggy jeans, du rag and listened to rap just 4-5 years ago. But I can assure that it didn't have anything to do with music (even though it was 4 life, yo), it was called puberty. Since then my eyes have opened, I've discovered real music, started to play guitar and see all the friends that never got over the rap thing from quite a different angle - musically.
PS. Have you noticed how modern rap artists can totally mess up good melodies with even the most minimum "sampling"? effort?
PPS. I appreciate some of the younger Finnish rap artists as poets though.
With LFS it has to be my first ever organized race - which was actually the first ever organized race for the first reborn Clean Racers Club. It was thrilling to notice that I can race 'ok' despite being a noob.
It's really hard to name any exact thrilling moments, but Half Life and Tenhcu - Stealth Assasins for example were pretty thrilling for me back then.
EDIT: Oh yes, 18 straight hours of HOMM 2 hotseat game with a friend and then accidentally steppeing in a sarcophag(sp) and answering wrong (didn't have google to cheat with) was thrilling.
I had to go through this just a week ago, and after one day of gathering information of both consoles, the choice was easier than it could be. Hope I'll receive my PS3 by xmas, until that I have to cope with this rental machine
No, imo the LFS video as well as that RACE07 screenie are as rubbish as it gets.
Should they start drawing noses in first person shooters too, because you can really see it? You pay attention to your nose when fighting in a war as much as you pay attention to your visor sponsor when racing - 0.
