Quoting people with out sources? I bet hes a rightwinger.

Its more of a social thing, theres not much pressure on survival of the human race, so it doesn't really matter if you pass on your genes or not. Something to do with childhood/upbringing.

Quote from Shotglass :so english bus companies are the only place where a sane level of tolerance and unpcness exists? i never would have thought of that

In my experince, english people can be quite nasty about other races/relegions/sexual orientation, coming out with broad generalisations, which don't actually apply to people they know in day to day life :/. Say someone hates all muslims, cracks racists jokes and stuff, whilst also saying that Mohammed in accounts is a great guy.

Quote from JTbo : But that is problem right there, why I would have to act certain way because of one minor group?

Its one thing to ignore them, not agree and that, quite another to say they should have limbs removed for saying they're gay in a public place.

Intrepid, you sound slightly jealous. As far as I can see, a kart is nothing like a single seater, this kid showed talent at racing karts, maybe a good indicator that he knows what to do in a race, and can be quick, but moving to single seaters he proberly will need to learn alot on how an actual car handles, one with proper suspension, one with aero, one that can go round corners alot quicker. I think thats what Tristan was refering to in his first post. Karting points to raw talant for racing, that talant needs to be refined.

Quote from JTbo :Example 1:
Your in deep caves of underworld, there is deep growl of dragon that is hiding in next chamber, you and your team is resting a moment and chatting from last battle, WarCrusader!1one says I like this game, you guys are so nice, btw I'm gay ZZZKKK"¤#¤%#¤% WHAT did you say?

Example 2:
I'm racing a bit online in LFS, there is not much of anyone racing as always, must be combos I prefer, there is only one clearly newbie on server so of course I try to help him out so he can at least control car when he goes to server with more ppl. After a while he says "you are nice, I really like you, I'm gay" ZZZKZK ¤"#%#¤%#¤%# WHAT did you say?

You see?

Surely, lot of it has to do with my personal dislike of gays, but still, people should loose their limbs from saying such things if I would be in control.

Has that actually happend through? I've never been proposistioned for bumlove in any online game.

Umm hes not going to be driving for them in the next season you know. Honda are signing up to support him through the entry level formulas. Taking a 16 year old karting champ and sticking him straight into an f1 car? that would be madness.

PS. Is i just me or is the second picture down on that front page really creepy (click on it)

Bloody every online game I have played where is able to chat, there has been situations where middle of chatting someone tells that he is gay and blaa blaa blaa, I'll say it is a bloody problem that needs to be taken care of.

But its just the same with straight people, someone starts banging on about thier girlfriend etc etc. Straight or gay, personely I don't give two f*cks about thier relationship issues, sex life, etc etc.

Really what is the point in doing a warm up lap for this? It will just add alot of faffing about to get everyone back on the grid... unless you do a rolling start.

Quote from caco83 :This thread hasn't been closed cause i haven't added the major part for S3
Engine Moding
meaning Motor heads, Engine Blocks, Intake, Pistons, Headers, Mufflers, 4Cylinders, v6, v8 engines

to keep this long list short, it would make for interesting challenges and unique speeds n times

and of course this idea isn't unique it comes from Ilegal Street Racing Red Line, wich is a very old game and plenty of people loved it for its customizable engines, and suspentions, but then again that will add a money system, but in most LFS servers money has already been applyed by programers where u have to drive to make money..... if i left anything out feel free to correct me or add but this would definately give S3 a new look / feel and Push in the future.
P.S. I love to Drag race, its a refreshing feeling knowing how fast u can go in a short distance, funny part is 2 people can have same car + engine they will never ever reach the finish line at the same time, cause of different reaction times the better driver = the winner, nough said cya!

no no no no no and no. Apart from V8's

Quote from JTbo :Let's say that even one occurance would be one too many

But encountering gays at work, if they don't bring it up constantly there is no problem, same as with religion, those who believe don't need to bring it up constantly.

I've never had a gay person who I've worked with constanly bring it up. Infact most of the time I usually find out from someone else. Apart from the camp ones, they're just annoying. The only place a gay man is proberly going to try and hit on you is in a gay club.

Quote from JTbo : Only way to let everyone enjoy their level of sickness (whatever it is, let it be eg. sickness of Normal), is to not bring own habits and ways up to others and forcing others act as they would believe or something like that.

Just the same as above, people don't go round forcing others to like thier sickness in my experince (unless its trainspotting).

Having said that whilst I feel that exams are easier and we do have big social problems in society, world war is a rather Tristan solution to our problems. We've gone from Cold War to some imaginary war on 'terror' (whatever that's meant to mean) and despite the fact large parts of the world have never been in a less stable state politically no body seems to care, probably because large chunks of our population our population are too stupid to notice.

They're not to stupid to notice! Its just that Peter and Jordan and the Beckhams are far more important. Wheres your sense of priority man? The world was truly a sad place when we didn't know about Brad and Angliana's latest sprog/fashion accesory coughing.

Edit: about the school holidays... Most kids round here started thier holiday this week, for 2 weeks.

Course its wrong towards the developers, but most people don't care. If the devs wanted the demo to be time limited it would be.

I don't think its wrong that there are more demo users then licensed racers. Everyone would rather have something for free, we're just able to see that in statistical form.

However, because I am searching for ultimate realism, which would be more realistic: Imagine you use clutch pedal (Using auto-clutch), or press clutch button in your wheel? Haven't heard that there is clutch-button in cars in real life.

I think this is the real crux of the matter, some of us just aren't that bothered about ultimate realism. Some of us are here for the great online racing aspect of the game. Sure realism adds to it, the physics make it fun, I proberly wouldn't play if it wasn't a sim. But it isn't the be all and end all of everything.

Pick up races aren't very real, but we have them, having a league race including qualifing taking 2 hours (depending on the race lenth) isn't very real. Theres no race weekends. Mainly because that would detract from the racing.

Autoclutch brings people without a clutch up to the same level as people who have a clutch, with a little less control and according to some easier to burn up the clutch.

Basicly I feel there has to be a cutoff point, where realism has to take a back seat to gameplay. Because at the end of the day it is a video game, no matter how you look at it.

But it can turn red at any point along the bar, you can have the bar nearly full whilst still being orange, or less then a 1/4 full whilst being red. Doesn't seem to be anything that links the two.
Its not a problem cause like others had said, to over heat the clutch thats what you have to be aiming for.
fragile_dog
S2 licensed
but that doesn't make sense, surly it would move up the bar if the clutch heat was that bad. Being a temp gauge and all.
fragile_dog
S2 licensed
No I didn't wait long enough, as soon as it went from red to orange I thought all was good, since I thought the orange bar was wear.
So what is the point in it turning red?
fragile_dog
S2 licensed
We just need v8 supercars.... then everything will be alright, world peace etc.
fragile_dog
S2 licensed
so what is that bar then? and how does it work exactly? It can change to red no matter how far along the bar it is, and you can change it back to orange if you race normally, but ive not had it go down in size.

Edit: Forgot to answer to the main question. If someone can't afford to buy necessary equipments to start any kind of hobby, maybe he should pick other (Cheaper) hobby. Sounds pretty rude, but life isn't fair.

Quote from Gekkibi :(Or if you say otherwise, you are an elitist, and you dislike keyboard users. Reason would be simple: You have a wheel, they don't)

All through this thread you've been calling other people elitist :/. The majority of sim racers/players have a wheel, but most of them don't have a clutch pedal at the moment. You either cater towards the majority of your audience or make the game seriously elitist and only have the people with the right equipment able to play. Removing autoclutch would disadvantage keyboard/mouse users even more, and disadvantage people with out clutch pedals as well.

Also, the only easy reachible button for clutch on my wheel is the righthand side, guess where the shifter is...

Quote from Dajmin :
On the subject of the "power bar" as you called it - it's just a temperature guage. Thermometers IRL have a bar that goes up and down when temperature changes too. Just because this one's orange doesn't mean it's not exactly the same.

Doesn't that bar also show wear? The orange part is how much wear and tear it has (never goes down for me) when it goes red it means its so hot its slipping, this can be turned back to orange with careful drving.

The clutch may wear/overheat a bit quick when people abuse it, but normal racing conditions it just doesn't happen. I'm a crappy racer, using autoclutch and I can't get it to overheat in a normal race.
