Hmmm, does this just happen in LFS? I would check and see if your gfx card is over heating or not, that can cause stuff like this :/. Otherwise do the usual, latest directx and latest gfx drivers...
What I do for my dfp (Proberly the same) is set the wheel in the drivers to use just over 720 degrees (maximum lock in lfs) and set Wheel turn compensation to 1. This matchs the wheel directly to the car, so if im driving the fox which has 450 degrees lock to lock then my wheel will match this exactly, even if I can physicly turn more.
Wheel turn compensation is a wierd one. On wheels that can only turn say 200 degrees and when its set to 1 it will cause the wheel to turn the ingame wheel more the near to lock you go. On a 900 degree steering wheel it seems to just match it. Yet when set to 0 on a 900 degree steering wheel it means you have to use the full real life lock to lock to get lock to lock in a fox.
Centering spring strenth I have turned on but set to 0 (as mentioned by gabicks in his set up guide for the dfp).
So basicly to get the same steering movements, set it to a slightly higher lock to lock in the drivers, and set wheel comp to 1 .
Thats my problem as well.... When ever anyone comes near me to overtake (quite often since im terribly slow) I start having an attack of nerves/panicing, "oh crap oh crap, need to be good and not cause a crash" basicly.
Some of the posts here don't really sound like nerves to me more adrenaline then anything.... When that gets flowing I get pretty shaky as well. Theres a game called hardwar, pretty cool trading fighting elite type game. In multiplayer fights between human opponents lasts seconds, and you can lose alot (well it takes some time to get back into a position to fight again) That really gets my adrenaline levels up, almost painful. and when you win its almost as good as sex :/. Kinda like a rollercoaster :P.
But yea, for me in LFS its when ever I get close to someone else, cause I just keep thinking I'm going to ruin it for them :/.
How can you say ut goty looks rubbish? Sure the graphics are a bit crap by todays standerds but its got such good style in it, the neon colours, the metal walls in some levels the gothic archetcure (which is way better then quake3). No other fps has the same amount of style, quake 3 is just the standered quake brown/red with some lava if you're lucky. UT2004 doesn't even get it right imo.
Suppose so, but its still an expensive drink for a young'un :P back in the day we had to make do with White lighting or dragon ice £2 for 3ltrs of the highest quality battery acid, AND WE ENJOYED IT GOD DAMNIT!
Its really isn't as much about getting the tools anymore. The high quality the grapics are the more amount of time/resources are need to actually create 3d models, and implement higher quality effects, intil you get to the point where a bedroom developed game will take years to develop, and will fall behind. If the big companies like epic and id are taking 3-4 years to develop cutting edge games (well just the engines really...) indy develops will keep falling more and more behind. At the moment some indy companies are surviving because they have great and unique game play ideas that don't need cutting edge graphics, but these are few and far between.
Steam is already doing what this xna studio is hoping to do, basicly giving a cheap and effective means to distrabute games, cutting out publishers. When darwinia was released on steam it sold more in the first two weeks then it had in the previous 6 months.
As for crysis, yawn basicly. It will be exactly the same as far cry only slightly prettier if your system can handle it. At least gears of war is trying to add something to the whole shooter genre (mainly using cover alot more actively, rather then running and gunning). But saying that I'll be getting ut2007 proberly since it looks good, and UT games always have fun gameplay imho.
That was pretty good, a few things looked a bit off through, when the water was running through the buildings it looked a little like the water effects in thunderbirds/stingray, ie small objects splashing into water then made to look big.
spankmeyer: check out introvision software, crap graphics but great and orginal game play ;P.
Mmmm bavaria, deceptive stuff, tastes like sweet normal beer, can be drunk as quick as normal beer, except its 8.6%. The drunk off it isn't your normal beer drunk, its more the psycho half bottle of vodka drunk :S
I always thought the german autobahn was the best in the world, not because of the speed but because of the way its run, and repaired etc. And most motorways are boring and not scenic (apart from the m62 over the pennines some great views up there :P). Also toll roads have started infecting the uk, making drivers pay more and more and more money :/.
Personely I've always thought of american cars as a bit... brutish if you know what I mean. European cars seem more refined in a way. And like it or not new american cars are proberly just as over engerneered electronics wise as the rest of the worldtm
edit: just to say cheers for editing earlier post, I thought it was pretty obvious it was fake. A cat would be way to smart to let a sun roof close on it :P.
The music in the first flatout is excellent imo, and gives a great soundtrack to the destruction :P. Also yes carmageddon, still got my orginal game disk , also great music.
I don't really see ford as an american company as such, the first ford factory opened in the uk in 1911, and in australia in 1926, and imo each one ended up making cars to suit the needs of the country it was.
Pickups have never been popular in the uk so no pickups turn up here (well the f150 has started to be sold, but I haven't seen one on the street). As for the SUV's/jeeps the kind of people who want one are either farms, in which case they get a landrover defender or rangerover, or people wanting to protect thier kids on the way to work, who can usually afford a bmw or simular, so low/mid range suvs don't sell well either.
The taurus looks simular to the old style mondeo except maybe bigger. And I really don't see the ka selling well in the US :P.
Not really that much of a hunk of junk, just small and cheap. We've had ours for ages now, and these are the only real problems. Was really hot in the summer and the radiator boiled dry :/ (silly sister :X)
That happens on most major motorways in the uk sadly , 20 mile stretch of the busiest motorway in the country, and you're lucky to spot one guy, and when you do hes usually munching a ginsters pasty :P.
The country lanes up in cumbria/lake district are mental, well twisty, and most have a 60mph speed limit, which you'd be lucky to cross.
edit: We have a ford ka, and its a bit pants, but it goes... Sister can get 110 on the motorway in it which is a little scary. Althrough recently it blew the head gasket :/, and now the radiator is leaking.
I also race on redline quite often, mainly because of the numbers of people racing there (even through i suck big time :S). I have seen what I would say unnessacery banning on one occasion, but the rest of the time its been quite pleasent, and most of the rules make sense (I hate people who wreck after the race, since I usualy just keep on trucking).
Just wondering how often the tracks change? I know blackwood is proberly here to stay, but when will south city server change tracks?
