Quote from Not Sure :Your system seems to have a lot of bass woofers, do you consider it to be hi-fi?

as he said it was PA speakers, then no it aint Hi-Fi.

still, i have an old microsystem, it says on the front "hifi sound" tho its only 2x10w.. and believe me, there is nothing Hi-Fi about the sound

as for EQ's; if u have a really good soundcard (pci, pci-e, usb or Firewire), try the DECiSOFT Equalizer for Winamp. can be adjusted to 32 bands and it gives u a nice sound if u bother to set it up right.

Quote from Bandit77 :Sure, but actually you don't save fuel by engine-braking per se but by lifting off the throttle - which is common sense somehow. If you look at it this way, you also save petrol by using your regular brakes.

if it cuts the fuel when enginebraking, how can u NOT save fuel?
lifting ur foot of the throttle wont CUT the fuel, so it doesnt save as much anyway.

Quote from [DUcK] :How would engine braking save fuel Feffe?

by cutting the fuel? in modern fuelinjected cars the fuel is cut at the instant when the engine starts to slow the car down, when enginebraking that is.

Quote from MijnWraak :Think he's backing up the statement. If the cpu wasnt bottlenecking, then fps wouldn't decrease so much in full grid.

exactly, even tho the thread was a little old, but still the statement applies

and even tho the p4 <3ghz is an amazing cpu, its outperformed by almost every singel cpu with dualcores.

Quote from MijnWraak :If your motherboard has PCI-E, get this

Anything with more power will probably be bottlenecked by your cpu.

i had a p4 3ghz before. i had a 7300GT 256MB, gave me over 50fps in lfs.. 15 with full grid :P

Quote from WSR : I hope you mean Digital Download through Steam or some other digital retail service.

but Good luck with your 8800's anyway...

When even a DEMO-user (no offence) says that he hopes that you mean BUY the game online, then something is wrong here.

And NO, i do not think he meant to buy it, i got the impression he meant illegal download, which inturn is illegal to talk about on this forum

Quote from MadCat360 :snip

Well I, both in LFS and IRL, enginebrake. But i guess most of them who do, just drop the cluth after downshifting.. I dont..

+ Enginebraking dont JUST have to do with helping the brakes. Most of my friends uses enginebraking instead of the regular brakes just to save fuel / brakepads.

Quote from MadCat360 :Why do you need engine braking? Engine braking hasn't been helping to stop the car since the switch the disk brakes.

So THAT'S the reason so many people use engine braking IRL then? Cause it makes no difference?

Like Not_Sure said, it gives you the option to brake only the rear of the car. Which also means that you can balance the car more exactly when taking a turn.

And i for one, uses BOTH (omg MadCat360 might say) engine braking and footbrake when driving IRL _AND_ in-game.

Quote from deiwisxxx :I have bought XFX 8800GTs(it has to come some day next week). I was looking trhough what could i play with that card. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d358wm1pM5c . Seen this , my pc is Q6600 well it says on the box and in the pc itself. Is this thing in the vid possible?

is what possible? playing C.M. Dirt? Yes, it must, as the game is bad as hell, and will run on a P4 3GHz... So short answer: YES!

Quote from Bean0 :Noticed this last night again when the TDRT races were streamed.

Every time the broadcaster disconnected, the server pass was there for all to see in the stream. This has happened before on a few other streamed races.

With more and more races being streamed, I think that starring out the password box (or at least having the option to) would be a valid improvement.

Im with you on this one
so +1 from me.

Quote from WhiteTiger08 :I also want to play GTR2, not only lfs, but my biggest concern is the screen resolution I want to use...isn't it a bit on the "high demanding" side?

Also, the screen supports HD, can i benefit from it when using a pc or HD is only valid with tv signals and DVD/PS3?

(those setups were pre-made by the store, I think they can make some changes since I don't intend to use raid0 )

i self would have gone with the first choice. its atleast a little futureproof, and if u change ur mind about what games to play, u will be able to do it, without spending a fortune

Quote from superstix :From what i can remember, Using LFStweak, I think you can change the gearbox types on cars (even if it didn't have an H-sift gearbox). Not sure if you could change it on the FMB though, worth a look. Of course, it means going back a few patches so you can use tweak.

Josh.

yes, just rollback to Z and u can change the gearbox on ANY car

Quote from germansoccer6113 :I had an arduino (http://arduino.cc/) and a character LCD lying around, and decided to make a gauge display. The only (major) problem so far has been with getting the data from LFS.
I've tried to adapt Virtual LFS Dashboard to suit my purpose, but that hasn't worked out too well because Microsoft doesn't seem to have a copy of VB6 lying around on their server. (and VB 2008 tells me it can't upconvert and to install VB6.)

Could someone write me a program that simply unpacks and redirects the data to a serial port (selectable in a simple GUI)?

Jake

VB6:

Dunno about that redirection of data, sry. Pretty sure someone does here tho

PS my wheel is a ferrari thrustmaster

Cuz if not then it could be your problem.

Why should u need to clean ALL of the drives when windows (for the most part) always is on the C-partition? and how do u reinstall a drive? do u mean that he has to disconnect the drive and then connecting it again? :O

i tried with the default engine sounds, and still get the same thing. tho it takes longer to produce, and its quite annoying when out of gas and trying to get to the pits :P

is it just me or does the sound screw up in LFS if u stall the engine ( or kills it urself then.. -> ), puts it in a gear and try to start the engine (without using the clutch)? on my comp the sound just gets louder and louder and after a while the sound wont go down in volume again :S
dunno if its HW or LFS related really..
