I partly agree with Fordman but I guess it's inevitable. The more realistic the game gets -> some fun wears out.
But there still is some of that same fun left however.

Different people are playing LFS and not all of them want their game to be 100% like the real thing even if they are racing in the real ife or like sims.

I hope it doesn't get too close to the real thing because this is a game after all.

Quote from Bob Smith :Too small? They're bloody huge! Although the number 8 looks a little funny.

Solution: lower you FOV or move the camera forward. You don't need three quarters of your screen taken up with the dash anyway.

XFG & XRG

Still picture is a little clearer to read than ingame one. I think the numbers are a bit too messy and the could be like 5% bigger.

Well

I red the thread but there's no actual solution but waiting for Scawen to update the patch or is there?

Sorry for making you guys angry, take it easy.. I see the tention is making everyone so nervous

Well there's no reason to become angry is there?

Or is it more nice to moan about me being stupid/lazy than just pointing out the solution?

Im sure that your postcount makes you superior

Quote from AndroidXP :Good god, READ THE THREAD!

So there is a "porblem" with 48x48?

BTW: XRG feels much better now, dunno why tho..

To the new LFS.exe is not so good looking compared to the old one

Just look at it. New isn't always better
Sorry if it sounds like moaning but it really does look worse than the old one to me.

To correct myself: It's not smooth enought as you can see.

Yes I think I'll cope with the new gearbox, soon

But that automatic gearbox kinda bothers in a way.. Some people say: "Yeah now we got ourselfs hard core sim with proper gears 'n stuff" but the automatic box for every car is still there, kinda feels like manual is harder than before and automatic is the way it has always been

BTW, when I start at the start of the race I rev till the green light and just shift to 1st gear. Clutch gets orange damage of about 0.5-1mm and same happens with clutch. So I guess that's normal?

I find this patch very welcome apart from one thing (Im quoting myself):

"Why in earth we, momo racers can't use the old system with auto throttle cut and blip? There is still automatic gearbox...
-Gear change auto throttle cut and blip options removed
Why not remove automatic gearbox then? I don't see it being fair right now.."

LFS tries to aim for realism and this new gear simulation is one step closer to it BUT, there is still automatic box for every car. Is that realistic?

To mee it seems funny and unfair to remove auto throttle cut and blip from momo users like myself as it desnt work properly on every car with autoclutch & momo because it's really ment for people with clutch pedal.
I don't really mean to "whine" here since I've driven more than 150 laps with the new system and I still think the old system with auto throttle cut and blip was more fun/realistic combo with my momo.

How do you even start with autoclutch without braking your engine?

Someone should make a giude for autoclutch users, soon.

I mean why in earth we, momo racers can't use the old system with auto throttle cut and blip? There is still automatic gearbox...

-Gear change auto throttle cut and blip options removed

Why not remove automatic gearbox then? I don't see it being fair right now..

Quote from Gil07 :If you use autoclutch you won't need the button clutch, no. You can of course flatshift, but that'll wear your clutch out quickly.

So would you mind doing another guide for autoclutchers?

Well Im off to practicing

Thanks for advice everyone!

I kept them pressed but it seems like you have to lift them between the gear changes like: A pressed, lift gas -> gear changes, lift A, press A, lift gas -> gear changes. I dunno but that seemed to be the case.

I drove 10 laps in FBM with momo and gears seemed to act pretty well. Downshifts can be done the old way, at least it didn't heat it up. Thar car has so much grip

Well yeah,

I tried a method that someone suggested and possibly found a bug (I tried this only with kb+mouse, will try with momo soon).
When I reach the rpm of shifting I press right padle (shift up) and lift the gas and the gear changes up but this doesn't always work and it doesn't always work while downshifting. I just have to hit A / X more than 3 times.

And engine braking should definitelly be less hard on the box.

Quote from geeman1 :See attachment.

I have 2 versions, X10 and X30 and I looked the older one first but apparently that is only in the new version which I found that in. My fault

So now I do know which box those cars have but the 1m$ question is how do I change those gears?

Sequetial and H-pattern boxes are pretty different in real world but how do I change them with autoclutch and black momo?

Up: Lift throttle, shift up
Down: Just shift down?

Quote from geeman1 :In setup screen it says what gearbox the car has, below the engine specs.

PS. If you are using the finnish translation: jaksottainen = sequential.

No it really doesn't. It's not in the "Tietoa = Info" section or "Voimansiirto = Transmission or whatever it's named in eng version" section.

How about that shifting "issue"?

Do I just shift all cars the same way with autoclutch & momo?
Californian

Quote from JTbo :Why? It is very self explaining function, don't cause clutch to slip in first place

Because I don't really know how to use it now because everyone is saying different things about shifting. Some cars have sequential but noone says which cars.

Do I shift the same way with every car or what?

Do I shift up by lifting the gas a little and pulling the shift up lever and down just like before pulling the shiftdown lever or how?

I use black momo and autoclutch because I don't have clutch pedal and I won't use some button as a clutch as that is pointless hustle, wears the fun and reality too.

Pitty that there are some many bugs that weren't expected to be there

Quote from Not Sure :you have to use clutch (for cars with h-pattern)

Would be nice to know about this more as it's a big mess now. Which cars use that box and how do you change gears with black momo with autoclutch in each and every car

So the clutch isn't working properly, ECU works too well and flywheel is made from plastic?

Realism is good but to the certain limit

Remember that we are playing this via PC and making the game matching 95% of real will make it pretty unplayable and the most fun of it will wear out by then. Just that you shouldn't make the 100% realism religion of yours.

But yes this update is pretty very very neat.
Some sharp edges (bugs) are still there but Im sure they'll be gone by the final release of the big Y

Thanks fo the replies. Im using Black Momo so I guess I'll have to do same what Matt0snap does

So what cars do use this techique with autoclutch:

Upshift: Lift the gas pedal, shift up, push gas pedal.

Downshift: Lift gas pedal (or blip it), shift, press gas pedal down?
How to: Change gears in version Y.
Californian

So it seems like there are theards about shifting all around the forums and I got confused too how you actually shift those gears now with the Y version.

I would like someone to post here how you will operate gears now:

Normal cars:

Upshift:

Downshift:

GTR cars:

Upshift:

Downshift:

Formulas:

Upshift:

Downshift:

So here you can tell how do they work now.
You may tell how how a specific car's gears need to be shifted also If some car isn't in any of those groups

Thanks!
