I think the main problem is still that HD is just starting up in European countries. In US HD has gone a long way already, they make most of their content in HD from news to TV series so they have something to broadcast.
But, not really a good businessman this Bernie. I'm sure he could make a sponsor deal with some home electronics manufacturer and a TV network to promote HD. Most people have TVs ready for it, and if you have cable you probably can already receive HD with an external receiver. What a better way to promote HD than F1 in Europe. I'd sure pay for it, well, if I had access to cable TV.
Ah, well, my mistake relying on wiki over some vague memory I had...again.
Well, might be a death strike for IRC if they start running WRC with S2000 cars, which I hope they don't. IRC is rather fun to watch. They even have (or should have) Safari on the calendar, don't know what kind of sandy adventure version they do, but it's still Safari!! Mosley said drivers and the conditions make the excitement, well, IRC at least has some of the condition bits right at the moment. It just seems he would like to run series with minimal expenses and best profits, which I don't blame him for, but standard S2000 cars, come on. Kitted S2000 is still quite a lot less than the current WRC cars at the moment.
edit. ^ Ah, have they brought night stages back for this season? Missed 2008 quite well.
I think IQ and believing in something doesn't really correlate in being stupid.
To not question what you believe and not being a bit skeptical every now and then is stupidity in my books. Relaying solely on Santa, Eastern Bunny and Gods to provide the ultimate and the only truth while denying anything else is just childish.
Can't really see the point of FIA running two S2000 rally series, WRC and IRC. Doesn't make sense to me if they wan't to make a large International series with plenty of cars and then run two smaller ones. If they deside to run S2000 in WRC I hope they bring back night stages like they do in IRC, or just merge them.
True, true, I don't know what my point was, probably that you don't all the gears if you are just moving the car with no extra load which a passenger cars don't usually have have.
Well, I kinda knew that, but don't really care about this CO2 nonsense, it's just load of rubbish dumned down for the masses, it's rather minimal in big scale. There probably is some sort of twisted logic to favor the diesel in taxation. I'm all for greener cars but CO2 shouldn't be the measuring tool.
Yeah, yearly taxation does now favor diesel in a way over here too as it's based on CO2 values, and I guess as diesel takes less fuel it will make less CO2. Which in any way probably is irrelevant to anyone as more hevier gases like methane are released from the earth all the time, but that is too complex for people to understand and you can't put a tax on it.
But modern diesels should be cleaner if you mean small particle emissions (or whatever they are called in English) than just few years ago.
And lorries having plenty of gears, well, you also need to consider that they easily weight 10 times more than a normal car with some load, but only have 3-4 times larger engines. I know the math might not work like that, but just pointing out that they need to pull a lot of mass with relatively low power to weight ratio. If you don't have a heavy load you only use half of the gears anyway, so it's there to ease thing up.
Not sure if I made any points there..but mehh, I still like truck engines. :P
No, I can remember last year that if I had set the TV to automatic it showed 4:3 and you had force it to widescreen which of course stretches the image.
Might depend on who is making the broadcast of course, I think it changes between races and continents.
Well they should first start using widescreen (or is it just the compelety retarded television network who broadcasts F1 over here who can't do their stuff propeply once again?) than go HD, as HD network isn't that widespread yet. Most of the world hasn't even changed over to digital let alone HD.
Now this has gone to typical diesel vs. petrol willywaving battle of nerds.
Well, all I'm going to say that I prefer diesel in big engines, in trucks, boats, trains and tanks.
I have driven different diesels, a bit shortly I admit, but enough to give an impression of the car. The worst one (if we talk about small cars now) being an older VW Transporter, a driving experience I wouldn't wish even for my worst nemesis. Yes, it wasn't a TDi so it didn't really go anywhere. But then, a newer Transporter TDi 4motion is pretty much the opposite and if I dare to say, quite fun and quick for a van. But then, it has 130 horses, so it should be.
Other positive driving experiences with diesels I've had include a Toyota Avensis, VW Passat and Golf TDi, and Land Rover Defender which wasn't that bad engine wise either. That's pretty much all diesels I've driven if you don't count trucks. I'd say there isn't much wrong with them other than you might need more gear changes and the sound. But I wouldn't buy one myself either. While diesel is still cheaper than petrol over here you still need to do more kilometers per year to have any benefit over petrol I think. Of course if I had my own fast food joint and access for free used cooking oil then I might consider.
edit. Just realised that all of the "positive" diesel experiences I've had have been in the more powerful models, which might have been the reason they were any fun at all. The most powerful petrol drive must been 115 horses. Or if by power to weight probably Smart Brabus.
edit2. Back on topic actually.
Yes, Jack if you are considering a diesel, don't buy a old lower range model with no turbo as you will hate it. :P
Yeah, the weirdest thing is that the battle advisor mentions about the enemy trying to flank you and to how to deal with that, but they never even try!
Salo confirmed on an interview for Finnish television channel MTV3 that there has been negotiations for a driver seat for Nascar and he is still waiting for an answer. If he doesn't get a deal, he will be driving American Le Mans series with Ferrari like the past two years.
Yes, the only way to get full 5 is to be safe also for pedestrians. Don't know if that 1 start rating for the Fiat is by the original or now day standards then.
