Quote from magicaldog :Have I missed something cause driving the formula 1 car in past 170 K it feels like driving in about 10 K. Absolutely NO sense of speed OR acceleration !

What were you hoping for? The wind in your hair? Watering eyes as you hit 95mph+?

Wider the track, the slower it feels. If you were to drive the same speed down a tight circuit, say South City, then you'd probably think the speed was fine.

Quote from KillaBOFC :Any one no if there is a new NASCAR coming out soon? EA site hasnt any info yet but they may not b the Co putting it out but just woundering

At least in it the AI cars are smarter
And what i cant understand is they put the KY track on LFS when its not as poplar as DAYTONA and INDY geez

Gran Turismo 5 has a NASCAR championship built into it... That's out in a few months if you can't possibly wait until February to spend your disposable income on being able to drive around and around on oval tracks with slightly different banking angles and slightly different sponsors on the walls for hours a day...

However that would require owning a PS3. Therefore, in before PC>PS3>Wii>Being kicked in the face>rape.

Quote from rockclan :Dear LFS Keyboard Drivers,

Why are you changing the fast and slow steer multipliers when you don't even have them set up in the controls... :chair:

Quote from Luttsy :Yeah, I understand that there are a different sort of engine and power band and stuff like that. But, what i'm trying to say is that it would be nice for those cars to have a bit more grunt in them. I think it would make for more exiciting racing then without using tweaks.

Don't use tweaks, then you won't know what you're missing.. Problem solved.

Quote from kimd41 : or even pay another 12 pounds for S3 to play it.

Right. Let's look at this from a logical point of view...

Demo - 1 track, many variations. 3 cars.
S1 - 4 tracks, many variations, 6 cars.
S2 - 7 tracks, many variations, 11 cars.
S3 - 8 tracks, many variations, 11 or 12 cars.

You are proposing people pay another £12, to get one track and possibly but unlikely another car?

Maybe if they produced another 2 tracks. Then went from 11 cars, to 15. Then S3 would be about ready for a release. Trouble is, they've got most car classes covered.

Quote from jakeeatworld :I would be braking around 60/50 metre mark but adjust the pressure you are applying to the brake pedal on the brow of the crest just to be safe in avoiding locking up your tyres.

I've not driven XFG on Blackwood in months so was taking a stab in the dark based on the cars I DO drive.

Approach on the left, brake at 100 metres, 2nd or 3rd gear, just touch the apex on the inside, keep steering, run onto the rumble strips on the outside, continue to turn into turn two.

???

Profit!

Quote from sini6a :I need S2 licence just for experience to check features and etc. i contacted the LFS community and they won't give me S2 licence tryout. I need S2 to show to my parents and to make them buy me one. Someone who can give me it for minute or two i'l really appreciate that.

Sini6a, or we can talk on MSN - [email protected]

Emailed you my username and password, don't change anything though, I use it quite a lot. Oh and stay off LFS.net kuz my bank details are on there...

This, what car do you drift with? I've got a few sets which might help your tyres last longer. More realistic. Let me know which car you use and I'll sort you out with some sets.

Nah, the keys stick out from the base of the laptop, so putting anything on top would just press them all down, and scratch the base no doubt. Can't be bothered buying a keyboard just to play LFS either...

Meh, cheers anyway.

Quote from hazaky :I mean kind of officially. When buyng a laptop, u should be more than "aware" of what ur gonna get.

I don't know how many laptop specs you've looked at in your lifetime, but they don't have a section with "how many keypresses you can press at a time".

How is buying a USB keyboard going to help with a laptop, where do you propose I put it? On my head?

And telling me to "deal with it" isn't really helpful to anyone. My old Fujitsu could press at least 5.

Ah well. Shame really. Was quite liking the idea of having 90fps on everything wacked up to max settings...
So I just got a new Sony Vaio.

Alright geezers, bought a new Sony Vaio VPCEC1M1E/WI a few days ago, just got round to installing LFS onto it, and I seem to have a problem, I drive using keyboard stabilised(in before use mouse).

Anyway, on my old laptop, I had slow steer set up to D and quick steer set up with S, I've done the same thing with my new Vaio, however, it will slow steer left, but not right.

I know it has something to do with the maximum amount of keypresses at any one time. I think I can press 3 before the 4th does nothing.

However, i'd be accelerating, which is one key, holding D, which is two keys, then I can turn left, 3 keys, but can't turn right, also 3 keys... It does the same thing when I'm trying to change gear too, I have auto clutch turned off. so can't change gear whilst steering without releasing the accelerator a while before putting the clutch in...

Is this a common thing with sonys? As my old Fujitsu Siemens could press a lot more buttons at once than this one... It's not a HUGE problem, as it's taught me to drive smoother this way because I can't change gear steer and brake into a turn like I used to. Which is a good thing I suppose.

Quote from Velociround :I wonder what would happen when you hit a barrier...

Tbh, everyone was purposefully crashing into the stopped cars after they finished. And they were getting a pretty intense jolt. (As seen in the end of that video.)

When I rolled it, I hit the tires on the entry to the chicane and then one of the cars. And that threw me sideways then back to the center when it got to a certain point.

However I think hitting a barrier would be pretty deadly. It would depend how quick the chair reacts.

Yeh that was it, It wasn't that bad when I crashed, it tilted until it got to a certain point, then it just returned back to the center with a bit of a jolt. The starting position wasn't quite right either, I was leaning forward before it even started. Bloke said the contraption was about £25,000. No prizes for winning either except getting your name on a leader board... Some chap called George had a 57.11.

Don't think this is a treepost... Can't remember the name of the company that were using it. But they had an old build of LFS (pre rev limiter) days.

They were using it to show off a gaming chair that used compressed air to stiffen the arms instead of hydraulics. Or something. Felt pretty good. Racing XFR on Aston Cadet. Hadn't been set up properly, was using a G27 but the clutch was the brake and the brake was just TOO sensitive, nowhere for the gear lever to go either due to the frame so it wasn't used... Time to beat was 57.11.

I was close. Until I rolled it on the chicane.... :ambulance

I'm sorry, how hard is it to listen to the engine sound and change gear before you hit the rev limiter?

If you struggle, put it in Automatic and it will change gear for you.
