I couldn't agree less. I want to do the same thing too. I don't make enough profits on the stuff I sell on e-bay, people with too much bargain phobia and those zero feedback idots . Like a semi-old Dell 1.8ghz xeon with 4 gb ecc ddr ram and 500gb hdd server I bought for more than 4,000 and sold for less that 1,500 that is just too much depreciation on something not that old. Yes you did mention "aging" by saying that how old is your computer really? C2D? a64 X2? or pentium d's? because if you want to get an 8800gt the cpu always comes into question and then the other things such as ram speeds, how many gigs is it? overclocking maybe? os and that kind of thing.

Same pcb layout but modified or tweaked bioses and extras like hdmi crap and full version game. My tip is to get the bare model from a good company with only the essential like the power connector and dvi to vga adapter. Hope that clears your confusion

That thing will have the worst Turbo lagg in the history of cars; Impressive, but stupid and impractical.

Just to clear things out AMD's are still very cheap good gaming chips but C2D's are 4-5 steps ahead in terms of performance. In other words "It ain't no pentium 4 any more" the architecture is laid out very efficiently and wait till you see the newer ones, it just gets better and better.

From that point of view, yes he is going to get boost. But at what cost? his cpu is going to get raped to hell and may cause instabilities because LFS physics engine calculations+windows+8800GT will pretty much max out at 100%

Ok to clear up the thoughts about bottlenecks I still have my old hp rig with PD 920 with 2gb ddr2 667 and put my 8800gt from my new rig. The only drop I got was 32fps in LFS and 36FPS in COD4 so yea Cpu holds you back but not that much If you have PD(which is actually 2 P4's glued together).

saw a new 8800gt on ebay for 214(just got sold). DAMN wish i hadn't bought mines from newegg
