Battlefield 4

As you might have seen EA has announced Battlefield 4. The official website is already launched: http://www.battlefield.com/ If you login with your Origin account you can get new dogtags for your BF3 soldier.

On the 27th of March they will show the first gameplay footage. According to their website they will show more if a lot of people sign in...

Out of nowhere they just showed some teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z4jxkkrrKM In this video you can see a submarine, which will most likely mean the sea fights from BF1942 can return. Totally thrilled about this. EA/DICE really knows how to tease people IMO.

There's not a lot known about the game itself, but it's rumoured to be around the year 2020 in China. The SP campaign will take around 5-6 hours with a bit more loose/fun animation style from Bad Company 2.

There's not alot more known about the SP, but there are a few maps leaked for the MP:
  • Diaoyu Island
  • Tiananmen
  • Shanghai Bund
  • Xizhimen
  • Xizhimen Rush
It's circulating that BF4 will use Frostbite 2.5, which is an overhaul from the current Frostbite 2.0 version from BF3. Most likely it's going to be a DX11 (including tessellation) only title on the PC. The rumour goes that all maps will have dynamic weather effects such as rain, sandstorms, fog and haze.

Battlefield 4 will most likely have destruction 4.0, which means you can demolish more buildings again (kinda like Bad Company 2).

It's not sure yet what's true or not, but by the sounds of it, this can be one damn amazing game again from DICE.

I'm interested in what you think. I'm certainly hyped ass hell over here. Recently bought BF3 Premium (after almost 200 hours, and not near bored), which will give me another few months of insane gaming.
They really went full on with DLC's and other crap on BF3, greedy bastards. I'm surprised they didn't ask 1.99$ for that Dogtag.

I will most likely buy it which is sad, cause I really don't want to be supporting that business model.
There will be TANKS??! OMG

Well they pretty much ruined new battlefield series for me with DLC's. Haven't played 3 since they launched first extra pack. I'm not going to pay twice for a game i already bought ffs. So i'm actually not that hyped about battlefield 4, I actually doubt atm that i'll be getting that game.

The extra contents worth the price.. to have 20 more maps, new playing mods, new guns and vehicules.. We have 9 maps in the original game.. the developpers have working a lot to add all those things.. The premium package is cheap for all of that.. It's like having 3 games in 1.. for the price of 2, it's not too expensive i think!
You are not a real fan
Have to agree. I'm not a big fan of that much DLC's, but the Premium version is/was 25 Euro for me, that's a great deal IMO.

I'm REALLY interested in what they have to offer the 26th or 27th.
The problem is, the most popular maps are still the default ones, I could barely find a HC server with a Alborz Mountain map (great one) when it first came out, let alone now..

BF3 was a disappointment, most likely BF4 will be a bigger disappointment. Battlefield is too "cod like" to be played on such a big maps nowadays. Bad Company 2 had just right sized maps for that more ADHDish style.

Also I kinda hope that its launch would be worse than SimCitys because, you know, EA.
Not sure if hater or just stupid.
A bit both, though I would go for the hater. Because **** EA.

not sure if fanboy or just stupid
Haha. I have to agree EA sucks, but the kind of magic DICE produces is just... :lovies3d:
Yeah DICE is awesome but EA is turning it to more and more shit. Imagine what BF3 could have been without ea. Also there has been horror stories about Mirrors Edge 2, how this one gaming feminist (cant remember her name) made a presentation for dice and ea is now making them to put those things to the game to expand their consumer base. (the presentation pretty much was about how MR is too hard for some people and the controls must be more casual for the sequel)

EDIT: her name is Anita Sarkeesian

BF2 was way better for its time than BF3 is for it's time today. I was really hyped about BF3 at first but the more I play BF3, the more I realize how unbalanced it is and how crappy the networking is with bullshit LERP lag compensations with client side hit detection.

With BF2 in mind, BF3 really is a disappointment in many aspects. It's all about unlocking shit, so everyone just wants to score as efficiently as possible. Assault is OP as sheit with their long range, high accuracy, high RPM weapons. It doesn't really make sense to me that the medics should have the best weapons.

I won't buy another BF game.
I think you can pay money to unlock some stuff, so P2W.
I bought Battlefield 3 for 10€ yesterday, so haven't played it yet and wont comment on much.

But what i've come in touch so far:
1. Origin - Such crappy system, steam is way superior.
2. Launching is done from the browser, why the hell do you need origin
3. Unlocking stuff - so... if you played more then other people, you may not be more skilled, but you probably have unlocked stuff, so you have an advantage.

I have played around 30 min. of it so far, so can't comment more.

What I've always liked about Counter Strike is that everyone is even, no matter how much you have played, you still have the access to same gear, also, players can create maps, so you don't have to pay money if developers want to come out with new maps.

The unlocking part applies more to vehicles. It's pretty fast to unlock attachments for the weapons.

It already takes a good deal of RPG shells to take down a tank, and if they've unlocked reactive armor. You're pretty much screwed. You also got the proximity scan which makes it impossible to sneak kill a tank as an infantry unit. I remember in BF2, the tanks had distorted views. You could ninja them a lot easier and it was a lot more balanced.
I prefer Battlefield 1942 because it had no unlocking shit at all.

:sleep2:
Also the browser based server list is stupid imo. Works poorly on chrome and takes ages for the game to start because the exe has to launch everytime all over again.

EDIT: seems like it doesn't work on chrome at all anymore
That's what I thought at first too. But to be honest I started to like it. Starting the game takes a few seconds and I haven't had a single problem with the website.

New teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch? ... mbedded&v=rzZqglb7sCU

Holy ****ing shit. I know choppers aren't new, but these videos are so amazing. Hype level: over 9000
Deze video bevat inhoud van EA, die deze wegens auteursrechtschending heeft geblokkeerd.
Pretty pointless video, these show nothing about what the game is going to be like.

It's like showing a guy moaning as a teaser for porn.
Hence >teaser<
Well that teases noone but hardcore fanboys like you.
Yeah, you must be right.
