Is there any chance Eric made track textures avaible in HI-RES version but for some reason they are not included in game(too big file size,perfomance issue or any other)?

I would like to download them if there would be such a posibility.

Sorry... I have mis-understood the question... i was scanning and took it as High-Def, not High-Res.

Well, most textures in LFS are small and 16 bit-ish :/

Yeh,they are small resolution and I would like to see a better one to be downloadable as a optional.
Hope the devs will be able to post soon the reason when they will get some free time to answer.

I am not sure dds format have to always screw textures.I think its quite good algorithm.

Hi-res versions probably dont exist. If they did/do, then I would like them too .

I keep hearing people say "we cant put that in peoples PC's would run slow" but my PC is idling whilst playing LFS, one cpu is on 60% the other does nothing, and the graphics cards have loads of spare RAM and barely generate any heat.

It's all very well making the low end graphics for the game work on old machines, but what about us with a Cray supercomputer under our desks?...

I also agree with your second part but you know Scawen is more focusing on the right physics then graphics part of the game.

I would love to have the option to download way more hi-res textures then LFS currently use.
There might be the "issue" as Scawen mentioned that LFS currently doesnt utilise the full power(feature for speeding up FPS) of modern graphics cards.

I still doubt that hi-res textures would affect performance on many machines as I tried for example 50MB raw sky textures and they affect in 0 percent my FPS in game.

Well, I think there are no textures in much higher res, because its already difficult to find textures in that res, if you are looking in google or some photo pages. But most pictures should be available in 32bit

My RAM usage on the graphics cards sits at 24 MB, at least it says so in the game. And i have 128 megs. And i'm running 8xAA/16xAF on 1024x768 on a 6600GT. Wouldn't mind nicer and bigger textures too

Optional separate download of HI-RES textures would be great. I'd like all hi-res updates in one .zip - today it's difficult for beginners browse forum and search for separate downloads (if there are any).
Why hi-res sky testures are not available as official hi-res addon when they are used in official screenshots?

(I have many unofficial hi-res updates, some textures are very large and no fps drop - imo very few players have less then 64MB GK, maybe even very few have less then 128MB)

I`m pretty sure that they have "something", atleast 32 bit version...

You CAN open every track DDS file and do some gentle unsharp mask in Photoshop.
