Saw 'Meet the Spartans' last night.

Not bad, about 7/10

A lot of those marks coming from Carmen Electras most beguiling performance
watched half of 'Saw II' last night, it really is a very unpleasant film

I don't get the whole Saw/Hostel thing.

That was the worstest comedy movie for long time
The beginning was pretty nice and funny.. but all those dancing
things and all the other jokes goed way, way too far.. they just couldnt
stop the joke when it was still funny...
Quote from danowat :I don't get the whole Saw/Hostel thing.

neither do I - there was nothing else on TV so I thought 'screw it I'll watch it' and it's just gore for the sake of gore

although now strangely I want to see Saw 1

hence the phrase "gore porn"

no real story just plenty of "action" and despite yourself you end up wanting to see more
i didnt, i watched 5 mins of saw 4. it was enough tbh.

But i also feinted watching a video in biology about cartiledge and an operation with someone shoving a metal rod in someones knee cap

Oh cool, I did that before to a horse

I did see Saw IV, wasn't that bad. The plot made no sense (probably as I haven't seen I-III), but it had some good action. Made me want to see some of the other Saws Although Saw V was released in cinema last Friday, might be worth a gander

yeah, it was a mixture of revulsion and intrigue at how the people were gonna die. But it was way too predictable in places, like when the guy goes into the industrial-sized furnace to retrieve 2 of the antidotes, you kind of know what will happen
Just watched Chopper, quite old though but still great film
Watched Oldboy on film 4. Vwow! brilliant movie, tis in korean? so it has subtitles. lots of action and a twisted plot, you'll never see it coming!
Tae Guk.

"A drama about the fate of brothers forced to fight in the Korean War."
I almost forgot about this thread, and didn't mention the film I recently got on DVD and saw for the first time...

IRONMAN

...it ****ing rocks. Easily up there with Batman, just a lot funnier. I loved how anti superhero it was, the ending was brilliant, buy the DVD even if you hate superhero films.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Just reminded me of a great war film with subtitles...

9th Company - The Russian side of the Afganistan war, very gritty and it lacks the happy ending bullshit of American war films.

Sounds like The Beast Of War. I'll take a look at 9th Company, thanks.

edit: A few others. Not all great but probably worth the watch for one reason or another:
True Romance
25th Hour
Basic (don't like Travolta in this though).
Bigger Than The Sky
Blow
Bridge To Terebithia (I cried)
Gangster No. 1
Grosse Point Blank
Hotel Rwanda
Inherit The Wind (more relevant now than in 1960?)
Munich
North By Northwest
Office Space
Presumed Innocent
Stand By Me
The Assassination of Richard Nixon
The Big Lebowski
The Game
The King Of Comedy
The Rainmaker
The Young Poisoner's Handbook
The Way Of The Gun

Spot who can't get to sleep so he's combing through his movie collection?
Its been out for months but Taken was the best action movie i have seen for god knows how long.
Watched a couple of old time classics last night:

A Man Called Horse
The Return of A Man Called Horse

Richard Harris - legend.
Just watched "The Transporter", "The Transporter 2", "Death Race" and then "Sin City" pretty much back to back.

Gone from action to slightly creepy...

Apart from the last one, that sounds like a 'Jason Stratham Torture Night'

If you liked that I would recomend I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK

It not the same style (i.e. kick ass action) but this is from the same director and is unique in it's plot. Well worth the watch.

You should watch Chinjeolhan geumjassi (aka Lady Vengence) if you liked Old Boy.

I saw this on Film 4 a while back and liked it, might get the dvd if i see it next time I go into the town center.

I was gonna watch I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK but I was too tired.

same here
If you're looking for something different, I'd recommend the following two movies:

Blindness

The plot is simple yet layered with many metaphors. People everywhere start to become blind. The focus lies on a group of blind people who are quarantined. It shows how fragile social structure is and sheds light on the inherent tenacity of human nature. If you like Hollywood-type action movies then this isn't one for you. It's imagery is quite powerful and I've even read about some people walking out of the cinema during certain scenes. If you enjoyed reading "Lord of the Flies", you may like this movie. You can derive some interesting parallels to issues like the control of world trade, dominance of nuclear powers, unfair acquisition of resources, and much more.

The Kite Runner
This movie is based off of a best-selling novel by Khaled Hosseini. It's about a childhood friendship in Afghanistan and how it evolves over time under different circumstances. It shows the Russian invasion and then transitions to the rule of the Taliban. There are also some interesting metaphors in this movie that reflect race & class discrimination, the lack of action by the international community, and plenty more to stimulate those neurons!

I'll throw in a "not for the masses" disclaimer for both movies. Other than that, ENJOY!
Saw Eagle Eye, it's not bad, and quite entertaining, but I don't like the fact that it's another movie with the "super computer develops a plan for the greater good which has 'destroy humanity' in it." It's a bit like I, Robot, with a mix of 2001. If you're not watching it telling yourself it's plagiarism, though, it's good.

I also saw Body of Lies, and I can't understand why it's doing so poorly in the US. It's a very good movie; extremely timely, and almost believable .
quantum of solice
saw it this morning (advantage of working nights is that you can go when cinema is quiet )

not too bad at all, pretty high action apart from about 15 mins in the middle. as has een said in some revews it feels like theres a third film needed to finish the story so we'll have to wait and see how they progress the series from now on.

one bad bit, the bloody theme song by jack white and sung by him and alicia keys is probably the worst bond theme ever, as david arnold said recently there are certain features that all bond tunes should have and even the worst of them have always had some but this appears to have none, it even sounds like they can't sing in tune at one point. the incidental music which is by david arnold is however spot on
^^ Saw that last night. Good film imo. I think Craig has said that they're not continuing it on.

Bourne Supremacy, i watched it the other night. The Bourne films have got to be one of the best films going. Epic stuff, such intelligent and high paced movies.

I saw The Bucket List too. The story is a bit moving, but is pretty funny.

Recommend a film you've seen lately.
