LFSCART 2008 - Season 1

Hi there

I'm planning to do a league called "LFSCART" (Fishfix had this name idea). The basic idea is a mixture of road and oval courses in a single seater league. We will be using the FO8 in 5 or six rounds containing atleast two visits on Kyoto Oval. In my plans included is a deal with New Dimensions Racing Events about participating in the 2008 Kyoto 500.

A LFSCART race is started behind the safety car using double file rolling starts. Also there will be the possibility of cautions, to keep this series as real as possible. A race day won't take longer then 2h. So the races will be about 75-100mi long.

I will do some post-race broadcast stuff: 10 minutes summarys of each round . Also I would like to be SC driver in most of the rounds.
  1. 01.06.08 Grand Prix of Jamaica (FE4)
Sprint: 7 laps Main Event: 19 laps
  2. 08.06.08 Grand Prix of Westhill (WE1r)
Sprint: 8 laps Main Event: 24 laps
  3. 15.06.08 Kyoto Speed Weeks (KY1)
Sprint: 15 laps Main Event: 55 laps
  4. 21.06.08 + 22.06.08 The 2008 Kyoto 500 qualifying
    28.06.08 The 2008 Kyoto 500 race (KY1)
Qualify: 4 hot laps Main Event: 270 laps
  5. 13.07.08 Streets of South City (SO4r)
Sprint: 10 laps Main Event: 30 laps
  6. 20.07.08 Grand Prix of Aston (AS7)
Sprint: 8 laps Main Event: 24 laps

The 500 will be a triple file start, as per Indy 500.

nice... like jwardy, if it goes ahead ill be interested
EDIT: rulebook version 1 published in the first post
o cmon! 500 laps on ky?... with less than 100 laps i can get like .3 off wr
Quote from chanoman315 :o cmon! 500 laps on ky?... with less than 100 laps i can get like .3 off wr

but can you do oval racing safely? that's the reason. Speed is nothing without control! 500 laps show quiet an experience. If you start training now, you'll just have to do 8 laps online the day to reach this amount.

(sry for the post before, i just didn't get the point)

and now, I'm really on holydays.
Just wondering the start times of the race?
I would like to join in to the organisation team to give some help if needed and advice. But would also love to participate.

The event times..
They will take time, as the events are quite long (quali, sprint, race, etc.)

The days are hopefully saturdays, every week, or alternate week.
And starting times around ...lets say...17GMT/18CET? hopefully not later. How would you eastern and western guys work with that? Is that manageable?

Quote from chanoman315 :

First of all, you have plenty of time to practice, and get those 500 laps.
second of all, sure, you can get .3 off the wr (meaning your time is 37.06) in 100 laps. By driving alone. But oval racing isn't as easy as it may look. The biggest problem for oval beginners is driving and drafting with other racers. How to do it, how to keep it safe, and how to go faster with them.
The new guys will need some guidelines on that.
And the KY1R will prove to be hard even to the guys racing the oval on a daily basis. turning right, whaaat? [/quote]
Fern Bay Green? I think Fern Bay Black would suit it more

Very interesting, I might join. I'd personally like to see the schedule up to 8 races though.

Suggestions:
Blackwood GP, Another Kyoto, Westhill (or any combination of the three)
we1 hell no... maybe another aston?... and yes another kyoto...
Quote from chanoman315 :we1 hell no... maybe another aston?... and yes another kyoto...

Eck I want a track with blind esses

How about Aston North and another Kyoto added to the list
I wouldnt mind another Kyoto oval. Or if its Blackwood it was a reverse direction because it just seems to flow more + Plus that blinde crest into T1 would be trickey at times.
i have +500 laps with bf1 can that count .
Quote from jwardy :i have +500 laps with bf1 can that count .

nope.

why?

for example: does 500+ laps on XFG / BL1 make you good at FZR / BL1?

So, no. They are just way to different.
Quote from Fuse5 :nope.

yes lol ,ok i just done about 50 laps with fo8 im down to 36.89

.

i like aston north, a representation of laguna seca ?
Quote from chanoman315 :i like aston north, a representation of laguna seca ?

ooh, exactly!
And its possible to whip up a special .dds pack to change the grass from aston to sand!

Laguna seca ftw
Quote from chanoman315 :i like aston north, a representation of laguna seca ?

Yes, Aston North.

Also, please dont put Fern Bay Green. Fern Bay Black would be more interesting (especially with the FO8)
hi... I AM BACK

so first of all some statements to what I read was posted:

It WILL BE NESSECERY to do these 500 laps on Kyoto Oval with the Formula V8!
The TRACKS ARE NOT FIXED YET. We can swich some things and think about something. One Race is fixed because it is no LFSCART event, only (eventually) a LFSCART pointscoring event, the Kyoto 500 is shedueled on the 28 June 2008 with its qualifing event on 21st and 22nd June. Means also that we will have the first oval event on the week before, as somekind of training. (My suggestion: the Chicane layout).

Note:
Quote from J@tko :
N.B If the planned join between the LFSCART series and the Kyoto 500 goes ahead and you have already entered the LFSCART series, then you will be entered for this automatically, however, your place is not guaranteed.

Means the following:
1st week of June - empty
2nd week of June - 1st Kyoto Oval round
3rd week of June - 21st and 22nd June 2008 - Kyoto 500 qualifing
4th week of June - 28 June 2008 - Kyoto 500 race
1st week of July - break
2nd week of July - empty
3rd week of July - empty
4th week of July - empty
1st week of August - empty
2nd week of August - empty

well... I just want you to know that I don't plan to have more then 6 races, because of the imense amount of time to plan it. This is the planned corridor in which the LFSCART should take place. About times and dates... there will be decisions soon...

@Fuse5 & lizardfolk: Can I count you to the organising cometee?
Quote from TFalke55 :

I'll add you on MSN, there is stuff I should talk to you on.

But ya, I can hop on aboard
Quote from lizardfolk :But ya, I can hop on aboard

Great...
yea, sure!

I can help you most of the pre-season time and such, preparing the whole event.
But i wont be present at the events from 24.06-to mid august or so, due to having limited internet time at my summerhome.

I'd be happy to contribute with any sorts of graphical promotion materials as banners, logos, ads to the track for the latter commentary.

Thanks that you're helping to orginise it although you might just participate in the first two races.

that's great! Could you try for the start to make a nice logo? What I did is just a "project logo".

BTW: @ everyone: I uploaded the first version of the rule book. If you have questions or ideas just give the number of the point your question or idea goes to.
