Quote from Bogey Jammer :I've just tried Blender V2.46 RC1 and this new version offers better material settings and an enhanced ambient occlusion. But render time is x5 longer...

Prepare yourself to say goodbye to plastic looking and blur, I will probably make a V2 of the kit.

Cant wait, even if the renders take a hour.
Not one hour, I estimate render time between 5 - 10 hours :icon23:

I for one appreciate your work.
Give me a shout if you need a mirror
Cant wait for this!! Blender :tempted: 3D Studio Max
It's the price of quality mate
I've made two renders so far!, but hell my pc is darn slow so it's boring, I don't care waiting for the render but setting everything up is awful, I waste like 3 minutes to choose my skin and stuff like that

Anyways! here they are!

FZR
FO8
I was going to do that McDonalds skin. you have made a good job of it.
Well done.
The best quality I've got out of Blender for now is this (in the attachments) All I did was rendering it in 5120x4096 res and then resizing. I've tried the new version of Blender, but it closes down if I select that resolition

play a little with material of the rim, and it'll looking(?) better
I was satsfied with look of rims as I've already changed their properties

Anyway, I've done something better, learnt to use max
Yay! Thanx for the tut and the program heres my first Render!

There is mine.

But I cannot ad another car with a different skin, because when I apply the skin to the second car it is rotated (bad english, I know)

Procedure to add another car exists on the first post. Please post smaller image or thumbnails on a forum your render is twice as large as my screen...

About the V2 of the kit I would like to know what you mates you want me to change/add to the kit. People seem to love the reflecting floor, so I'll make it standard. But what about the lightning setup? scene setup? Do you like the current car's windows effect?
Quote from Bogey Jammer : Do you like the current car's windows effect?

I feel its a bit too blue, but you can easily change that
WIP of V2:

it's raw, not photoshoped, not resized...
Took 4H25 to render and may be faster after tweaking some settings.

Current changes:
  • tweaked specular settings to minimize "white patches"
  • applied a mirror material to the floor
  • smoothed the floor borders
  • changed the gaussian filter (that caused blurring) to Mitchell Netravali filter
  • removed the synthetic lightning setup and replaced it with the new ambient occlusion with maximum samples.
  • adjusted glass tint
  • rims setup with new gloss material
Current conclusion:
  • I'm satisfied with the new ambient occlusion and gloss effect but this one doesn't seem to work when reflected...
  • Small specular shades are buggy with Mitchell Netravali filter, annoying...
  • No windows displayed on the floor. BOO
  • The scene needs a light source above the car.
Comments are welcome

I know and I follow it, but the result is what I've said before: twisted skin on 2nd car
Can you post a screenshot pls? :doctor:
EDIT: check if the "UV" button is pressed in the "Map Input" tab in the material menu.

Are you using a polygon light sources or just point lights? if so, you could try and replace the point lights with a polygon sphere as a light souce and disable specularity property on the body material and just go for reflection. You would have to hide them from the render - I assume that can be done in Blender?

The first two images on this thread probably show it a lot clearer than I explained. http://forums.luxology.com/discussion/topic.aspx?id=10963

UV was pressed... finally I got it:

- I pasted 2nd car into new layer
- set skin for single user

I think I will not be able to do this again

How to prevent ugly reflections shown in the detail image?

Thanks 4 great work Guy!
