Boris Lozac: I'm gonna take screenshot of the settings next time. They are pretty high, running i5 3570k with radeon 7950. Lap is valid (I have 5 seconds penatly on). I thought it was ok to use green areas.

Nice one Matrixi.

I see you guys were running x-bow at Magione.

Default set in hotlap mode. Best lap 1.18.600. Looking at the splits and my driving, I think 1.17 can be done. Picture of the stint: https://dl.dropboxusercontent. ... xbow_magione_1_18_600.jpg

And a video of slightly worse lap, but with slides and stuff.

Quote from Tinytacohead :I'd suggest going for a Miata instead of the s13, (because they're mega reliable even when driven hard, as well as relatively cheap to mod, own and maintain), but then I'd be suggesting you disgrace a Miata by turning it into a drifter.

So let me set this straight. You've tried drifting your mx5, even on the wet, and you can honestly say that it wasn't fun at all? For example, you managed to connect a sequence of nice corners and thought: "oh this sucks so much! I hate it!"?

Drifting is fun, that's why I do it. I don't see it as a proper motorsport. I see it as a best imaginable way of spending free time. Rally is something I want to do too (I was co-driver in amateur rallies), but I simply cannot afford to do both at the same time. Circuit racing is too expensive, and autox on the other hand is too slow.

I just cannot understand you, your logic. Being so single minded. So I suppose this is my last post on this topic. To sum up, enjoy your love for cars and share passion with others. And please don't waste energy hating something that other people love, just because you don't understand or enjoy it.

Quote from Tinytacohead :Obviously I'm not, or I'd have turned down one of the best budget-performance cars out there, for fear of twats thinking I'm gay and/or was dumped by their..

It seems like you must blow off steam by doing the same to others. Does that make you feel better? I've always wanted an mx-5 too, the old one with with pop-up lights. It's a great car too. Can't afford to have them all though. Matrixi is ofcourse trolling with you (me too, with the girlfriend part).

Quote from Torolol :Ok, fair point and true. I mostly pointed finger at finnish e36/e34 people, believe me.. you wouldn't want to see how it is here. Those cars are not special, so of course I choose something with a bit better community around and is just as good or better than a bmw with a bad community with shit people. If I was to talk about bmw building to any of my friends, it wouldn't even become a talk subject.
For car building/driving hobby best is to have an interesting car, and most bmw's is the least interesting ones.. (for me, and most people in finland, except the "swag" faggot bmw boys)

I know what you mean, because that car is popular with "certain" crowd in Poland too. Doesn't make the car worse though. Don't have to hang around with those people.

Quote from Tinytacohead :(all the beemer's around here I can't help but have them on the brain!)

Unnecessary prejudice. When buying a car, I always picked what I thought would be the most the fun to drive, listen to, look at etc (that I can also afford). I don't understand why would anyone not buy a car, because of some stupid prejudice or opinion about owners. BMW are super fun to drive.

Why are you people (i don't mean everyone) so worried about what others will think?

Torolol: There's e30 running sr20vet in Poland, but I've never heard about w201 with sr20vet. that must be a first, a brave project. Good luck!

Tinytacohead: you're just a bitter, ignorant hater and troll. Did a drifter steal your girlfriend once or something?

Quote from -NightFly- :or just 1 reliable car you use to drive your daily routes.

What the hell? What's happend to this place? What's wrong in building project car for the race track/street, and having another daily commuter.

So this is the place, to post boring focus, golfs and other cars that you can see on the road all the time, and laugh at people who actually put some effort to build a car for racing/rally/drifting/oldtimer/etc? Is this still a community of motorsport fans?

Buying a car and doing light mods is one thing. Buying a car and spending a year+ completely rebuilding it is another. If you can't appreciate effort put into that, then I don't know what to say.

Quote from Bose321 :Pics of the Focus please. Enough Datsuns already in here.

Here you go Bose, very interesting daily ford focus. It's so damn rare to find one on the road. It's so much more interesting than the datsun..

Quote from Tinytacohead :Great, another dipshit drifter showing us his mad skillz..

Wow, where's that coming from? Haven't posted here in a while. Will remember not to do so. I don't remember people being so rude here in the past.

Quote from kars19 :Why no daily? (Nissan)

Cool car S13 I was considering one, but they cost as much as decent e30/e36, and are not that reliable (engine) + that drifter image

Thanks kars19. No daily, because it's too unreliable. You never know what's going to happen to a ca18det that is getting abused. Water pump died soon after the driving that you can see on the video. Also polish roads are in a very bad condition. Whole body is welded, all bushings are 90 ShA polyurethane, and it has isc drift coilovers, which are very stiff as well.

Compared to e30 325 I've had before, the car is so much more fun to drive. It costs more to run, it's unreliable, parts are expensive, sometimes you just hate it, but when you finally get a chance to drive it properly, you love it.

But there's really no rational reason to own s13 over e36. S13 = heart, E36 = brain.

Also, time attack etc. with s13 is very fun as well, if that's what you're looking for.

Quote from jibber :I've been playing this all weekend. Somewhere past level 30 at the moment.

I have mixed thoughts so far...

The physics seem to be better in this one. Biggest improvement is probably the tyre model. I feel like it would be a lot more realistic now, if only there wasn't this nasty steering aid stuff that can't be turned off.

I can't help it tho... it feels like a polished FM3 with ruined steering.

FM2 felt like a simulation, like i was in control of the cars... FM3 felt a bit arcadey in comparison (welcome to steering aid), FM4 feels even worse in this regard. Which is a shame, because physics have become better and better since FM2. The controls feel like NFS Shift now sometimes (obviously an exaggeration, but yeah)...

My biggest gripe however is that Porsche isn't in the game anymore. I want my 944 turbo!

Why our game impressions always must be so similar.

I invested 500 euro in fanatec. FFB and steering aids suck! Pad steering ain't good either.

I really do hope they fix it in the next title update.

Quote from CoolColJ :GT always felt a lot more snappy

Too snappy. Tires are a lot more predictable in real life. But if full GT5 can finally nail the feel of tire behaviour on high slip angles, then it will be a TOTAL killer.

Quote from flymike91 :I hear they did away with the "every player is equal" part of multiplayer, which is to say it wasn't like COD where one godly player can nuke the whole map. The review I read talked about earning jet packs and armor boosts...thats when I knew I wasn't going to buy it.

Then the review is wrong. From what I played - jet packs, armor boosts are unlocked from the beginning. Depending on the game type, each player can be limited to one ability. In some game modes you can change the ability and starter weapons during spawn. For example I played team slayer and in 3 matches there was only sprint enabled, but in other 2 matches I could pick any class I wanted during each spawn.

The only thing you unlock is armor visuals - sort of like "visual tuning" of your spartan. :P

Finished the campaign on heroic, done some team slayer and firefight matchmaking.

The campaign is very good. Great pacing, proper enemy ai (some encounters can be scary :P), no infinite enemy ai, exciting battles, big open spaces, nice vehicle battles etc.

Problems with campaign: framerate at some points and squad ai when it comes to vehicles.

All multiplayer matches have been a blast so far. And the psych profile settings seem to work with matchmaking. One of the settings is "polite" voice communication. Didn't hear any whiney kids yet.

Thanks.

About the programmer. That and many more solutions should work. For example: http://www.lancos.com/prog.html

If you will be using a programmer that works with avrdude then I also recommend this: http://www.khazama.com/project/programmer/

Also just upload the hex file to the atmega. Fusebits don't need to be changed.

If you would like to change avr program and test it in simulator then also download avr studio.

Led outgauge tachometer (micro controller)

Last semester I had to pick a project for my embedded systems and micro controllers labs. First thing that came to my mind was led tachometer for lfs. So it's a "led tachometer for simracing made with Atmega8535, 12 leds, and max232 for rs232 communication."

I had no experience with micro controllers (apart from programming them at university), soldering etc, so the goal was to produce my project as simply as I could. This thread is for people who don't have experience with micro controllers, like I didn't, but who would like to make some outgauge lfs device.

I'm sharing everything that is needed to construct it:
- Scheme.
- parts info,
- data sheets,
- micro controller c program and hex file,
- dll api for communication with tachometer,
- sample lfs outgauge app, which synchronizes lfs revs with tachometer. I am using LFS External library for outgauge.

Things you need:
- Free time,
- com port in pc,
- soldering tools,
- programmer for avr (can buy one cheap, or make one yourself),
- parts, which are freely available.

Tachometer functionality:
- It lights up as many leds as user wants - send 4 to light up 4 leds, 5 to light up 5 leds etc.
- It has 3 modes:
* leds light up from left to right
* leds light up from right to left
* leds light up to the center

Also it can be easily extended, for example 7 segment displays can be added etc.

Video Presentation
Video Presentation BF1

The way I soldered it is not very ergonomic, as my first goal was to make it work. It can be soldered much better, for example with a custom made circuit board and proper placement of ports.

google code page with source code, data sheets etc:

nice page about avr micro controllers: http://www.tuxgraphics.org/electronics/

Enjoy and have fun.

Quote from maxiim :if you still think its easy try to win some drifting comps

Quote from squidhead :Been there, done that, before you even got LFS. Where's my cookie? drifting is easy.

Quote from squidhead :No no, not on a private server, not with friends (well I did know most racers, but through the forum).
Russian Drift Championship, Winner @ Winter 2006-2007, event had participants from www.liveforspeed.ru (Official Russian LFS Forum, which is a home to quite a lot ex-USSR territory LFS players). I've missed the Spring 2007 due to being the judge (as were the guys who finished 2nd and 3rd at winter) and I've forfeit the whole series ever since due to .... akhem.... minor... cough cough... quarrels on their forum... (who would have thought, right? )

This is kind of far far far away from "Been there, done that".

So it ends when the group set off for Alaska to stop the Russians, does that mean BC3?

I think it's introduction to multiplayer of bc2.
