AI challenge for offline races

Hi all,

I love this sim, and albeit now being not very active online, every time I drop by to play a bit, it brings a great smile to my face!

Sometimes I'd just like to have a few races offline as my friends don't race all that much any more. So I need to add some AI for a bit.

Unfortunately, even on PRO setting, I still manage to drive away from them, taking away a bit of the challenge for me (sorry, not trying to brag, but that's just what I find, despite SOME time training them up on a certain combo)

I remember when the AI was updated some time ago, people thought they were practically invincible. They found THE line around the track, and drove the car to the limits. I loved it!

My question is, could that level be added once again, maybe just on top of the current levels, like an 'ELETE' setting? Either that, or can they learn to go faster, sooner?

The old Pre-S1 and S1 days were great... but sure, the same guys aren't around, but the racing is still findable!

I had one of the best races I've ever had recently... on a S1 combo too... lx4 @ Fern Bay Gold. It was a league race and I can only compare it to some old turbo races at SO long.

Sure it was a league race where as the old races were just whenever you turned up... but they're still around. And I'm is Australia! we dont really have the big European crowds up there

It's a nice vision... if you look at it sideways... sorta...

I find the FZR a point-and-shoot style of driving... I find it hard to get into certain corners with it. The XRR allows me to string together a decent rythm.

That said, I'm no slower in the FZR than the XRR...

I know I'm sorta randomly popping my head in and this is a little off topic... but I kinda hope they keep the chicane in SO Classic.

I just find it part of the challenge and unique character of the City. What's so bad about it? you cant cut the apex's?

I guess if I get back on topic, I'd go:

2: Surprise

But then again, I don't like loosing my $10...

Grip doesnt change on the tracks... it has skidmarks, but they dont change the grip on that piece of track.

I thought they already did let the community contribute. Albeit only the top of the line stuff (as you'd expect)

Prime example are the current sounds made by that guy (sorry, don't know his name off the top of my head)
Custom Camera locations

G'day everyone.

I was just thinking the other day, why we aren't able to set some custom camera locations around the tracks.

It could be as simple as getting in Shift-U mode and setting the camera settings (same as any camera in Shift-U except with maybe stating theability to follow the selected car as opposed to a static view) and pressing a buttom to set it.

The settings could be saved in a small file in a folder, enabling it to be shared with others. And obviously, if a file isn't found, LFS defaults to the standard cameras.

I think someone said that this was initially the purpose of InSim? I dunno how true that is but I really think that this feature would be VERY useful in the AutoX arenas!

Is anybody else having issues with the lights being very predictable again?

I looked through the change log and the readme and cant see anything regarding being able to define the amount of time the reds are held before green.

Has anything changed code-wise that may inhibit the random pause before green?

Yeah I'm finding either W or W17... the diff bein the guys who aren't bothered with teh development versions due to the auto install, and the rest who like the latest n greatest.

I just look on LFS-W to see what's goin and choose from there.

I was racing in a race hosted by CORE this morning and we had a similar problem.

Maybe Banshee can reveal some details on the host side of things but I was running V5 patch and have a cable connection which didn't seem to have any probs.

Mid-20lap race the connection bar seems fine, people can talk and we can see split times and pb's... just the cars on the map seem stationary and there's no other cars on the road, replaced with a lag bar up top (yet no connection lag!)

I thought it was good cause I had no cars to lap while in the lead, so that's all good, but hey, wasn't all that exciting and realistic!

I'd settle for a similar track, not the same.

too many demands for accuracy and all that for just eric. So one similar would be good. It would mainly cater for the enduro's though... maybe a few smaller configs for the variety in the environment.

I agree with more tracks in general though.

I was just on the MPR server and got kicked with this error?
Is it an insim proggy in the background kicking faster drivers or some legit error which is manageable?

Do we really need tilke tracks in LFS? 'Just one more chicane'

Blackwood has been the spiritual soul of LFS and hasn't required change in at least 5 years we've all known it... Why does it need changing now?

Yeah, GPL style would be good, nice idea!

I don't think we need different types of movements... just an arm movement to show we're unhappy with something or just to stipulate to other drivers... no need to make it complicated.

I like fern bay... it's a track which is fun with slow cars, and challenging with the fast cars... you have to be inch-perfect through the tight turns or face the wall. the rallycross layouts are great.

i like it.
