Quote from Scawen :

Why is that? I'm interested to know what you could do without Wine that you can't do with it.

I'm sorry, I just wasn't being clear enough. It's just a personal opinion on what to install on my server and why, it had nothing in particular to do with functionality.

DCon is supposed to make it work quite well / more easily with Wine than the old version.

I'll see if I'll manage to persuade myself.

The biggest problem is that some of the OOS checking would fail because the calculations that take place (when a car is built, for example) would have very slightly different results due to the different floating point optimisations used by different compilers. So some things would have to be done in a completely different way.

I don't have enough experience with that, not knowing how IEEE754 works in practice, so I'll take your word for it.

Thanks for taking the time to shed some light over your thoughts behind such plans/decisions, much appreciated!

Could this possibly mean that we'll see a real Linux host in the future?
I'd love to host a server and implement some nice rolling mini series to make casual racing more interesting... But with Wine, I'll still have to wait.

Quote from lewis2212 :but, honestly, im 13 and have NO clue how to set them up lol :/

Why would you want your age to be in the way for something awesome?

Don't say:
"I'm 13 and therefore I can't"

Say:
"I'm 13 and therefore my brain is currently in the mode for learning stuff much easier than any old guy. I will put my mobile phone down and stop learning how to SongPop faster than anyone else. Instead I will demand some patience from myself and learn something that will help me understand computers in general, and LFS in particular. I will rule."

It's not really any harder than that.

Quote from Slowmover :the game is so f....ing old - there is no need to lower any Settings at all.

The issue had nothing to do with lack of performance.

All axis are assignable to whatever you want in the calibration menu. They are all visible and it states which is connected to which.
Just click on them and assign.

In that case, it's less likely to be a LFS-problem (even though you only seem to see it in LFS).
Do you have enough RAM?
What is the graphics card? Do you have updated drivers?

What happens if you open LFS in Windowed mode, set a resolution of, say 800x600 in the game, choose minimum graphics settings on everything, and then restart the game in full-screen?

Hi Joe!

One idea is that you upload a hot-lap. Both for others to see, and so that you can compare your driving/telemetry with someone who's slightly faster than you.

Quote from Speed Senna :I would want to see bicycle, it's much more ecology than car.

I actually came here to write just that. It's a good thing there are more people who like this idea, it means it may happen!

A natural evolution of this concept is to add a "b-class", a go-kart equivalent series, that is, tricycles.

And perhaps also an upper-class with more power, (tandem-bikes). The problem I see with this though is that we might be needed bigger circuits for it to be meaningful, though.

Have you suddenly changed behavior in how you use the game? Or is this on another computer? Or is it only now that you wanted to bring this up?

There's nothing funny about that. It's a pretty accurate description of someone who attacks his own people and firmly believing that it's for a good cause. :insane:

I for one usually continue driving in one form or another.. testing..
And it's not fun if someone ruins that by crashing.

I can't believe how the question of banning a person who has a questionable nickname and says "I kill ni**ers" turns into a discussion of whether or not white people have the same rights as anyone else.

1. Ban the person
2. Start an off-topic discussion about how hard it is to be white nowadays. There's nothing wrong with having this belief (we are all entitled to be wrong). This thread is not about that, though.
3. I can't recall people applauding blacks for wanting to kill white people. Where the #"#¤ did this come from? How is this even up for discussion?

Quote from Bluebird B B :Only way to detect this, on server-side needs to to constant check on if physics-defined in game are not violated. Guess, it takes too much cpu-power unless lfs will start using at least 6 threads on server-side. Otherwise i see no way to check 20+ cars on the server-side for cheating.

If controller data (throttle/brake/clutch/steering) are recorded properly, it should be possible to sanity-check a replay off-line, that is, suspicious drivers could be put under scrutiny at will.

Is it really a faulty gearbox, or does the clutch overheat?

Quote from serumlol :Hello everyone. I just bought S2 license. I am a bit sad, actually because i love this sim as i am myself a real life kart racer and enthousiast. The problem is there are not enough class dedicated races. Which is worse then the demo version... I only enjoyed drifting... I want to see Uf1 races, lx6 races etc.

Oh, and the tire, and scirocco update....

I will enjoy my stay.

Good luck

Try joining something like absolute-beginners.net, and you will be able to participate in serious races with only fixed models and random tracks.

Quote from Ikskast :Hi, i have a problem with my wheel, when i turn a little , it turns a whole 900 degrees. Help? I tried putting wheel degree to 90, didnt work. Its a 90 degree wheel.

Go into the calibration page and turn the wheel lock to lock a couple of times and you're done.

What you said was a statement, not a question. The statement in itself was reasonable, hence the "Yes.".
What is your question?

No, the card does not need to have any credit. If it's a valid Visa, then it should work.

Try using PayPal with that card (LFS accepts payments through PayPal as well).

If you honestly have a bank that's not modern enough to have an online-service, then LFS, albeit a bit old, is also too modern for you.
