I did this benchmark 1year ago when i first got my C2D6600 and decided to find it's limits (not really good core code cause with a capable watercooling system like mine it should go higher)

Anyway nowdays it is a piece of cake to drop below 10sec with an Intel Quad core.

How so? Quad's aren't great for SuperPi, as SuperPi only uses 1 core.

don't really have a clue about that... i do know that Super pi uses only one core but latest intel's quad core seem to be more effective clock per clock or it is just cause of the better chipset+ DDR3 ram...

Aha yes, didn't think of that.

You can run a C2D on an x48 or x38 chipset, with DDR3 though.

It's only the Penryn Quads that are like that, and soon there will be Dual Core versions. Seeing as the Quads are hitting 6 GHz, i think something might be challenging the 8.1 GHz P4 record...

f2c, then generated C source program was optimized manually.

Did you overclock your CPU?

I have 3500+ witch is slower than yours.

With XP and a 3700 i got the same time, when running at stock (2.2 GHz)
24.172 secs on E2200 no overclock 2gb ddr2800 Vista Ultimate 32bit

edit: got 23.109 yesterday but forgot to take screenie and it seems the calculations seem less consistent at every calculation

Is this normal?
no it must be bloat ware that is holding him back and maybe something else is giving that timing

Yup. Considering my AMD [email protected] GHz using a tweaked copy of XP gets 27 seconds, then 3.2 GHz and Vista (which might be a bit bloated) getting the same time makes sense.

Windows does a lot of **** in the background all the time. It's not the calculation being inconsistent (if it were then surely you would get a different Pi each time...?), try doing a test with 3DMark06 - each time your score will be different for the same reason.
