The "hard points" located in the back of the G25 Console are intended to assist the two main "Front Clamps". They will not, and can not hold the Console in place alone. The Main Clamps should aways be used and never removed.
The screws for the Main Clamps cannot be removed without taking the unit fully apart which is the same as DFP (unlike Formula Force GP which you can unscrew the clamp screws and pull the clamps out the bottom). These clamps are "trapped" between the Top and Bottom Case plastic.
No, Tristan on his momo, sawed off the large screw clamp, not the small twisty-clamps, Its well known amongst the forum, so we poke fun at him.

No such desk mods for me..the clamps on my DFP held it there okay, fail to see why the G25 ones will be any different. I don't like peering over the wheel ALL the time 
Saw a link to an excellent video on "that other forum", clearly shows the wheel speed, sound (or relative lack thereof), and pedal spring strength compared to a DFP. Worth a look:

Comes with PC drivers in the box, they're a new version of the Wingman software. Ver 5.0 I think. Looks very similar to the old Wingman ver, which is fine with me because it does the job very well.
Edit: Just read the reply above mine..Razor, when you press the pedals in, do you see the axis for them move in LFS? While assigning them you shouhld be able to see the axis's move realtime on the right. Its possible you still have combined accel/brake enabled as well, you need to turn that off.

EDIT: Oh and I just want to mention that in the last part of that video review, the game this person was playing... I don't know what the hell that was... but it was giving really bad feedback to allow the wheel to spin quickly. FYI, LFS lets the wheel spin VERY fast when it does self-countersteering, and that is thanks to its FF connected properly with the steering physics. Other games are not-so fast, but LFS has very quick movements.... allowing LFS to control the movement completely. If that means anything to some.....
First, I suggest uninstalling all Logitech software, unplug your controller.... restart system... startup installation from the included disc, and when you come to the calibration/detection screen after some install stuff, plug in the controller and WAIT until it installs everything. Then click next, etc etc.
Because it sounds to me like you haven't correctly installed it. All Logitech controllers are like this, you just need to start fresh and reinstall the software, then the hardware. And before you use the Logitech Profiler, use the controller properties window in Game Controllers of Windows... don't confuse it with Profiler just yet

Oh it feels quite nice. Just the size of the wheel, and the very sturdy feel accounts for a lot of satisfaction. The FFB is the best I've felt. The pedals are great too, but I'm not fully accustomed to them yet, lap times are not quite up to par, but improving.
How do the clamps on the wheel work? Because as the clamps are so far in the front I'm concerned the back of the wheel might lift off on sudden movements...
Do you need to be careful with the stick shifter, or can you use it even during "intense" driving without the fear of breaking it?

Yeah they work perfectly on my desk.
No you don't need to treat it too softly at all (but it moves easily anyway), but you might want to make sure it is secure, I would like it to be more so. I found that mine moves a bit upon heavy downshifting. At least with the inclusion of hard mounts Logitech have given enthusiasts a way to attach their own custom mounts or platform.

Sorry mate, I can't provide a comparison with the ACT Labs device. From what I have heard they worked well but did not appreciate even low-level punishment (someone who has one can give better feedback than I). I don't think we will really know the strengths and weaknesses of the G25 shifter until some time has passed and a more appropriate appraisal can be conveyed. It's a case of so far - so good. Perhaps some other G25 users will have different experiences?
