Round 2 official results

Tight and twisty streets of South City welcomed AWS racers for the 2nd fastest round of this years series and a round was a very tough one as practically every driver visited trackside walls few times for a scratch or two. Still, drivers shook off these bruses and most of them finished this nerve cracking race - in front of everyone finished A.Laipnieks, taking his 2nd win of the season by winning also the NewYear City Challenge. Lithuanian driver Exellent won the pole position by setting the fastest lap time first (A.Laipnieks just repeated it),but could hold to lead only to end of 6th lap, where he had admit chaser's faster pace, still he settled for solid 2nd place finish in his debuth in AWS. M.Linde saw the rivals ahead pulling away,so he had more worries of saving the 3rd and he succeeded without letting competition too close.

After 1/3 of the season we already have few main contenders for the Drivers Championship - A.Laipnieks now has an 8 points advantage over M.Linde, with N.Vārna in 3rd,another 4 points back. With commanding pace in remaining rounds, next 3 drivers in standings could have a good shot towards main title. In FXR Master standings the situation is the same as in round 2 results, where few first drivers should be regarded as main favourites for the title. In Rookie of the year standings we have practically same situation as last year, where the main championship leader being rookie is pulling away from the rest - A.Laipnieks has 12 points advantage over closest follower N.Vārna.

This round didn't bring much changes in Teams Championship standings as both leading teams scored same amount of points and 3rd losing just 1 point - Race Green Autosports still leads by 3 points over Sex Tourism Organizers,CoRe Racing is another 3 points behind. In Nations Cup the situation is totally different - Latvia still picking almost all possible points from the round and now leads by already 37 points over neighbour country Lithuania,Bulgaria is now 3rd,trailing 4 points from 2nd place.

The 3rd round of the series also will be different from previous rounds - it will be the 1st of 2 RB4 road course races introducing a new variation of unofficial configuation without name - the track codenamed A15 with added an extra chicane is a real pardise for chicane lovers,as it features 5 very different chicanes over a 5.7 klometers long lap. Aston Grand Prix has been part of AWS in all seasons, allthough since previous year it has been run with the slower RB4 GT car.

Round 3

Sunday,25th January
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET

Aston Grand Prix has always changed between seasons - first 2 seasons it was run with FXO GTR,the previous and this season - with RB4 GT and on different Aston open config tracks. This year we will use the unnamed and codenamed configuration A15 with a small but very noticable modification - the track receives another chicane, which feels almost like 2 sucessive tight hairpins. Since the track overall is quite fast, the race distance will be over 100 kilometers to fulfill the 40minutes per race setting for this league. After tyremelting race in Fern Bay,this race should be somewhat easier on RB4's tyres then average racetracks of LFS,making this more a speed contest rather then a stability race.

Round info:
Track: Aston Long Chicane Route (AS1X/modified A15)
Laps: 18 (103km)
Car: RB4
Previous winners: RGˆMatiss (2014), RGˆInvecs (2013), spdoFade (2012)

Round 3 official results

After making a good debuth in round 2,lithuanian driver Excellent kept the fast pace going also in round 3 - he was the fastest in qualifying and was also able to take victory home, even if M.Linde was the leader for most of laps,Excellent still found the way to pass him late in race. M.Linde had to concede and finish 2nd,M.Velikov took the remaining step on podium, while series leader A.Laipnieks finished 4th. Both Race Green Autosports drivers happened to set the same fastest lap of the race, scoring another extra point for the team.

Half of the series has now passed and situation is getting intriguing,as A.Laipnieks' lead is now cut to half and is just 4 points over his closest rival M.Linde. The winner of this round,Excellent, climbs up to 3rd position,11 points behind. With 45 points available, still everyone is theoretically eligible for the main drivers title, but realistically top 3 are the ones to look for, while next 2 drivers in standings - N.Vārna and M.Velikov - still have the chance to mix up cards for the leaders. After 2 of 3 rounds done for RB4 Master title,M.Linde leads over A.Laipnieks by just 1 point,if no extra points involved (or both drivers get one),both drivers will secure the title in any scenario where he finishes ahead of his rival and do not finish lower then 2nd if M.Velikov wins by taking both bonus points. Rookie of the year leader is still A.Laipnieks, but the closest rival now is Excellent and he is now 1 point closer then N.Vārna was previously.

With quite poor performance from closest rivals and by scoring season's biggest amount of points,Race Green Autosports now breaks away from competition in Teams Championship standings - the hosting team increased it's lead from 3 to 19 points over Sex Tourism Organizers, while another point further in standings is single driver team Core Racing. Not much changes in Nations Cup,where Latvia keeps pulling away from any competition, despite having the weakest round of season - the lead is now 43 points over Lithuania, with Bulgaria being 3rd,trailing by 50 points.

The 2nd half of the season will start with the "unpropriate" car/track combo - the powerful FXO GTR,equipped only with slick tyres, will be run on the Blackwood Rallycross Reversed configuration. Despite the wrong tyres, this car is still the fastest around this track by running these 1.8 kilometers under 1 minute. This will also be the 2nd and final round towards Cross Challenge award, where A.Laipnieks leads over M.Linde by 3 points. Also worth to mention, that this and next round will be the last chance to qualify for the AWS festival of speed in season finale (round 6 - Winter 200),where only drivers who have scored at least one point in series standings will be allowed to participate.

Round 4

Sunday,8th February
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET

Originally Blackwood RXGP used to be season opening round as it presented the original AWS idea - opportunity to race in very slippery conditions while still having quite a lot of control if done right. This year it's a opening round just for second half of the season and also the closing round of Cross Challenge - the small 2-round inner tournament of AWS. In reversed direction this track doesn't offer much chances for standart overtake manouvers, drivers will have to be really faster to be able create ones. Tyres might be a critical choise - if you go for too much grip in your settings, you might end with very little grip due overheating! In previous years only northern country (Finland/Estonia) racers have been able to celebrate victory - will this year the glory go more south?

Round info:
Track: Blackwood Rallycross reversed (BL2R)
Laps: 41 (74km)
Car: FXR
Previous winners: 22 S.Jurvansuu (2014), CoRe T.Lähteenmäki (2013), spdoreno (2012)

Round 4 official results

It looked like intrigue for championship will get bigger as in qualifying both closest chasers to points leader outqualified him,but Excellent rolled the car when entering turn one and also early in race polesitter M.Linde made a slight mistake and opened the gap for A.Laipnieks to pass for race lead, which he never gave up until the finish line. It was already 3rd win of the season for A.Laipnieks, while his closest rival M.Linde finished 2nd. But by collecting both bonus points,M.Linde scored same amount of points as winner towards championship and he didn't allowed the leader to pull away in standings. The best of the rest in this race was Delis, who run a solid race for a podium finish.

Only 6 drivers now are theoretically eligible for the main series title, but realistically only top two are considered as championship contenders as remaining 4 needs to dominate last 2 races with 2 leaders failing to score points. After scoring same amount of points, gap between A.Laipnieks and M.Linde remains 4 points, but with 3 wins to none,A.Laipnieks has granted himself better position in any case of tied points situation. The closest to top2 is still Excellent, but with 23 points gap to leader,he should more worry to keep his 5 points gap over rest of 3rd place chasers. After 2 races of 3 in FXR Master standings,A.Laipnieks leads by 5 points over M.Linde, meaning that only 2nd place finish grants this title in any scenario. But another small award is already finished - by winning both rallycross rounds,A.Laipnieks has taken the Cross Challenge award. In order to secure Rookie of the year award,A.Laipnieks needs to score just 8 points in remaining 2 rounds,as he has 23 points advantage over 2nd best rookie Excellent.

After another good performance,Teams championship title starts to slip towards series hosting team Race Green Autosports, which has 29 points advantage over Core Racing and Sex Tourism Organizers, who have a tied points situation for 2nd place - Core is ahead due 3 wins to none. But in Nations Cup the winners of previous 3 years,Latvia, has now secured the 4th award even with 2 rounds still to go - by scoring maximum possible points in last round, latvians now have 68 points advantage over Lithuania with 52 points up for grabs. Lithuania and Bulgaria still have to decide 2nd best nation as they have just 4 points difference.

Only 2 rounds left in AWS 2015,the next one is probably the easiest combination of them all - the slower RB4 GT will be used in standart configuration of Westhill International. It will be the deciding round for RB4 Master award, where difference between 2 leaders is just one point.
Already 28 drivers have scored points towards championship standings and next round Westhill GP will be the last chance for rest to do so. Registration for series will be closed 10 minutes before start of qualifcation and only drivers who have scored at least one point will be allowed to participate in final round Winter 200!

Round 5

Sunday,22nd February
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET

It is the first time ever when AWS visits this English racetrack and it will be the fastest RB4 GT round of the season - it is possible to run 109 kilometers in the usual AWS race length 40 minutes. This track has many very fast turns, one of them - the fast chicane in 2nd sector can be called as gamebreaker since it's the one, where mistakes can be made so easy! The slower 3rd sector offers 2 decent outbraking-overtaking opportunities. Tyres will be critical aspect in this race as always with RB4 in road course tracks - everyone has to be sure to stay under melting point for whole race!

Round info:
Track: Westhill International (WE1)
Laps: 21 (109km)
Car: RB4
Previous winners: none
