And, on topic. This cut's to what this dispute is primarily about, there are secondary reasons as well.

This is what the west is told.

This is closer to what's happening,

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/ ... holy-grail-gas-deal-china

And this is a view of the Kiwi opinion, we've just this week done a deal with China over currency. Aust did a similar deal late last year. We are also signing up to the Russian free trade agreement, The TPPA however may well not get our agreement. We do have an election this year, and agreeing to it is an election loser.
http://gordoncampbell.scoop.co ... currency-deal-with-china/

And, for the LOLZ, here's the US's efforts to impress China,
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new ... mother-barking-staff.html
But the Obamas' stay has already affected staff and guests at the hotel, with the Westin front-desk veteran alleging that Mrs. Obama's mother Marian Robinson has been 'barking at the staff since she arrived.'
'We can't wait for this to be over, to tell you the truth,' he said in a sudden hush. 'We entertain many important people here, but this has been, I think, very different.'

Way to go America. Speaking from the country that had the first free trade agreement with China, that isn't the way to get a deal !

Actually the New York Times is the most accurate. The rest of your sources are from people that make a buck selling Gold.
Petrodollars.... ROFL Really? Petrodollars? I'm sorry. There's this thing called a diversified economy. We have that. They could buy and sell oil futures in chickens and cows and it wouldn't do a thing. The ONLY reason why most trade is done is dollars is because out of the worlds' stable currencies, ours is the easiest to manage. Try buying something in Yen. You can, but notice that's a lot more paper involved. Not to mention disputes among various nations as to it's true exchange value against their own currencies. OK try doing it with pounds sterling then. OK now notice those are too expensive and gets a little messy when breaking the notes down. Enter good ol Uncle Sam and his stacks of interchangeable dead presidents. There's you're "Petrodollar". An economic attack from Russia would be like I dunno a minor bug bite? We are such a massive consumer driven and globally connected economy, the only real way our economy can and is screwing up is from our own hand.
Besides, we're heading for another oil glut. Eventually Putin's use of Russian reserves won't be much of a bargaining chip.
Also, what do you think is going to happen in Chechnya with Russians playing around in Crimea? I think our man Putin might be on the verge of biting more than he can chew.
I dunno. I still have a standing offer for the Government of Russia. I'll trade them Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton for Putin. I think he's be great as Governor of Texas.
This place is full of racist homophobic religious nuts that like to shoot things. And he gets along with the Bush family. He'd be perfect.
This is an academic answer, if you line up all the worlds economists, they will never reach an answer. However, it is possible to identify trends from history.

For the USA's ability to run deficits and the petrodollar system, much higher oil prices were a major gain, not a loss, and this is almost surely still the perception of the Obama administration today.
In its first phase and last phase, the economic and political incentives for ensuring national access to oil supplies, and the existence of the petrodollar system as a monetary and finance tool - unrelated to the economy - worked better with higher oil prices.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/ ... llapse-petrodollar-system

So, whoevers currency is used to buy/sell oil, this is a major advantage.
Currently it is US dollars, let's say it's in another country/s currency. What will that do to the US dollar ?

This article assumes the euro.
http://www.businessinsider.com ... ate-petro-currency-2012-7

So does this,
At present, approximately two thirds of world trade is conducted in dollars and two thirds of central banks' currency reserves are held in the American currency which remains the sole currency used by international institutions such as the IMF. This confers on the US a major economic advantage: the ability to run a trade deficit year after year. It can do this because foreign countries need dollars to repay their debts to the IMF, to conduct international trade and to build up their currency reserves. The US provides the world with these dollars by buying goods and services produced by foreign countries, but since it does not have a corresponding need for foreign currency, it sells far fewer goods and services in return, i.e. the US always spends more than it earns,
http://www.feasta.org/documents/review2/nunan.htm

Now, imagine the effects of Russia, China, Saudi Arabia etc all using another currency, and the effect on the already bankrupt US economy.
http://thediplomat.com/2013/12 ... sia-axis-bankrupt-the-us/

China and Russia are not the “buddies” of the United States. The truth is that they are both ruthless competitors of the United States and leaders from both nations have been calling for a new global currency for years.
They don’t like that the United States has a built-in advantage of having the reserve currency of the world, and over the past several years both countries have been busy making international agreements that seek to chip away at that advantage.
Just the other day, China and Germany agreed to start conducting an increasing amount of trade with each other in their own currencies.
You would think that a major currency agreement between the 2nd and 4th largest economies on the face of the planet would make headlines all over the United States.

Instead, the silence in the U.S. media was deafening.

That's an old article, and, thanks to the US actions in the Ukraine, one that's playing out now.

Here's the Daily Mail, Heather McGill, Amnesty International’s Ukraine researcher, said: ‘It is astonishing that a member of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech was involved in this attack. http://www.voltairenet.org/article182892.html

Clearly they're now doing this,

Last week the group issued a VKontakte (Russian Facebook equivalent) appeal to anyone in the West with ability to edit Wikipedia, asking them to delete references to their anti-semitic and neo-fascist background.

According to Wikipedia’s logs, on a Monday the Right Sector entry described the party as having “borderline fascist or neo-fascist views.” On Tuesday the page was modified 174 times, including changes to describe Right Sector as an “organization to protect demonstrators” and a “youth patriot organization.” After the intervention of Wikipedia administrators, the page was locked and reverted to saying that Right Sector was “described by major Western newspapers as having far right or neo-fascist views.”3
http://www.maxkeiser.com/2014/ ... nato-coup/comment-page-1/

And who can forget this gem......
Ukrainians must take up arms against Russians so that not even scorched earth will be left where Russia stands; an example of former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko’s vitriol in phone call leaked online.
http://rt.com/news/tymoshenko-calls-destroy-russia-917/

That was Miss Innocent, and - Tymoshenko confirmed the authenticity of the conversation on Twitter. “I hope I will be able to get all my connections involved. And I will use all of my means to make the entire world raise up, so that there wouldn’t be even a scorched field left in Russia," she promised.
Despite being incapacitated by spinal disc hernia the ex-PM stressed she’s ready to “grab a machine gun and shoot that m*********er in the head.”

And now, what benefit's will the people be seeing from this coup ?

One of the requirements of the IMF was that “household subsidies for gas be reduced once again by 50%”.
“Other onerous IMF requirements included cuts to pensions, government employment, and the privatization (read: let western corporations purchase) of government assets and property. It is therefore likely that the most recent IMF deal currently in negotiation, will include once again major reductions in gas subsidies, cuts in pensions, immediate government job cuts, as well as other reductions in social spending programs in the Ukraine.”

And this is the negotiations carried out by the coup leaders over this deal,

Yatsenyk intimated that Ukraine will “accept whatever offer the IMF and the EU made”

And what do the IMF think ?

I am positively impressed with the authorities’ determination, sense of responsibility and commitment to an agenda of economic reform and transparency. The IMF stands ready to help the people of Ukraine and support the authorities’ economic program.” Press Release: Statement by IMF European Department Director Reza Moghadam on his Visit to Ukraine

I had covered all this earlier but clearly some of you failed to read what I pointed out the results of the coup were likely to be for the Ukraine population.

No problemo
Russian Brownshirt, ViceSpeaker of Russian Parliament, just sent official proposition using official parliament stationery to Foreign Ministers of Poland, Hungary and Romania to cooperate in further Anschluss of Ukraine and take some parts. I just wonder why he didn't receive answer that we take Russian Koenigsberg (Kaliningrad), for sure, thank you very much.
http://euromaidanpr.wordpress. ... stry-lets-divide-ukraine/

There are many very, very close resemblances to Hitler's propaganda during the period of Anschluss of Austria and Czechs with almost the same epithets for the opposing the Anschluss.

Interesting Idea . This would make it easier for russia to annex poland later, by saying they have to protect the russian minority in poland.

DOTA has taught me that there is a Russian minority everywhere, given how I always see at least 1 russian in every match.
Quote from Test Driver :Interesting Idea . This would make it easier for russia to annex poland later, by saying they have to protect the russian minority in poland.

Russia has it written in constitution - it has right "to protect any Russian speaking citizens anywhere". Almost all of postSoviet countries have 10%-40% Russian minority, which means that in some areas they are majority. Luckily in Poland - none. Apart from Belorussians.

And you better remember - postSoviets ARE Helghans from Helghast. They are.
They perceive themelves as superior because they can control fortune-chance-luck. By all competition regulated by corruption or set up results (enormously vast evidence from business to sports). They need to be superior by empire, by any means, they need submission from minorities.

Seeing as an all out war is seeming highly likely*, I thought a look at some of the media lies could be interesting.

The interim government in Kiev has said the OSCE inspectors are being held by terrorists. Besides the Germans and the freed Swede, the other monitors are from Denmark, Poland, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, Russian state media said.
At least seven of the inspectors from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe appeared at a news conference staged by the self-declared mayor of Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomarev, who referred to them as "prisoners of war."
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/04 ... ld/europe/ukraine-crisis/

Well, apart from the relevant fact that they ARE NOT OSCE inspectors, that's highly truthful.

The actual truth is; The captured foreign officers were there at the invitation of Ukrainian coup-government and accompanied by Ukrainian officers. While the Vienna Document 2011 was exchanged within the framework of the OSCE the military observer mission under the document, like the one captured in Slovyansk, are bilateral and not under organizational OSCE control (see para 18: VOLUNTARY HOSTING OF VISITS TO DISPEL CONCERNS ABOUT MILITARY ACTIVITIES). This was not an OSCE mission but a multilateral visit under a paper that was signed between OSCE countries.

In case someone doubts the official OSCE position, here is a TV interview (in German) by the Austrian TV with the vice president of the OSCE crisis prevention center Claus Neukirch. He points out several times that the military observers caught in eastern Ukraine are acting under a bilateral (German-Ukrainian) deal within the framework of a document which was once signed during OSCE consultations. Neither the paper nor the missions under it are, Neukirch says, within the official OSCE framework.

And here's some news from Polish media that has never been repeated in the West.
The Polish left-wing weekly Nie (No) published a startling witness account of the training given to the most violent of the EuroMaidan [1] activists.

According to this source, in September 2013, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski invited 86 members of the Right Sector (Sector Pravy), allegedly in the context of a university exchange program. In reality, the guests were not students, and many were over 40. Contrary to their official schedule, they did not go to the Warsaw University of Technology, but headed instead for the police training center in Legionowo, an hour’s drive from the capital. There, they received four weeks of intensive training in crowd management, person recognition, combat tactics, command skills, behavior in crisis situations, protection against gases used by police, erecting barricades, and especially shooting, including the handling of sniper rifles.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article38297.htm

Training in the handling of sniper rifles ?
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ec1_1392923593

This arrangement suggests that NATO now runs a new Gladio network in Eastern Europe [6]. In addition, following the coup, mercenaries working for Greystone Ltd., a subsidiary of Academi, were deployed in the country in coordination with the CIA [7].

The Polish weekly refers to photographs attesting to the training, which show the Ukrainians in Nazi uniforms alongside their Polish instructors in civilian clothing.
These facts radically modify the perception that we may have had of the coup of 22 February 2014. They undermine the arguments provided supplied to the press by the U.S. Department of State (points 3 and 5 of the factsheet dated March 5) [8] and constitute an act of war under international law.

*As Washington and NATO are not positioned at this time to move significant military forces into Ukraine with which to confront the Russian military, why is the Obama regime trying to provoke action by the Russian military? A possible answer is that Washington’s plan to evict Russia from its Black Sea naval base having gone awry, Washington’s fallback plan is to sacrifice Ukraine to a Russian invasion so that Washington can demonize Russia and force a large increase in NATO military spending and deployments.
In other words, the fallback prize is a new cold war and trillions of dollars more in profits for Washington’s military/security complex.
The presstitute Western media and Washington’s European puppet states are supporting this unrealistic demand. Consequently, Russian leaders have lost all confidence in the word and intentions of the West, and this is how wars start.

European politicians are putting their countries at great peril and for what gain? Are Europe’s politicians blackmailed, threatened, paid off with bags of money, or are they so accustomed to following Washington’s lead that they are unable to do anything else? How do Germany, UK, and France benefit from being forced into a confrontation with Russia by Washington?

I can assure you - you can be 150% certain - you buy all this propaganda showing symmetry between the situation Ukraine and any other confilct with western countries involved (from Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Libya, Syria etc.), but you will end up with pack of scums, bandits and thieves that want their violent rule to be protected. This IS different world.
  • The conflict in Crimea was fueled by Berkut who fled there to escape from responsibility from shooting and killing protesters
  • Those protesters didn't use armed transporters to move on Kiev streets, unlike separatists do (I wonder why is no friendly NATO-Ukraine military maneuvres planned there. Separatists would rather not use armed transporters to risk a meeting with armed convoy).
  • Those protesters didn't take over government buildings to rule
  • Those protesters, were backed by democritically chosen parliament, unlike Syrians, who only know Al-Sad family despots for half the century.
  • "This was not an OSCE mission but a multilateral visit under a paper that was signed between OSCE countries." - I can assure you both Ukraine and Russia are OSCE members. But one of them is evidently faking it letting separatists treat OSCE observers like that.

Syria ?
Where do you get your information from ? John Kerry's book of global facts ?

The new Syrian constitution of 2012, approved in popular referendum, introduced multi-party system without guaranteed leadership of any political party.[1] In a new article 88, it introduced presidential elections and limited the term of office for the president to seven years with a maximum of one re-election.[2]
On August 2011 President Assad signed Decree No. 101 on amending the General Elections Law. The Law stipulates that elections are to be held with public, secret, direct and equal voting where each Syrian voter, who completed eighteen years old, has one vote. The Law does not allow army members and policemen in service to participate in elections. It also provides for forming a higher judicial committee for elections with its headquarters in Damascus to monitor the elections and ensure its integrity, in addition to forming judicial sub-committees in every Syrian province affiliated to the higher committee.[7]

And so good to see a wise man posting good things. Western and I think especially US media got enough people brainwashed these days.

Edit: Racer X NZ , great effort! That post about the IMF and the banker behind it.. is something worth knowing to get insights in world politics and a lot of happenings in this world.

History plays an interesting role here combined with the current situation. The US is rightfully bankrupt, the US Dollar as a world reserve currency counts for all big oil transactions including the middle east. Now while many countries in the middle east decided to change to gold (Africa) or the Euro (I believe Iraq) for their oil transactions, suddenly there were fightings in those countries. If you look up history, I find it hard to accept any other possibility than this was again caused by secret organisations within the US government. The motive is to justify an 'helping' invasion of those countries, this will lead into control and that's what they needed. Unfortunately too many innocent people had to be killed for it, but hey who cares? We the big US can't make our economics work ourselves.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but in recent history this has lead to an US invasion of; Jemen, Jordan, Egypt, Lybia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrein? I probably forget one somewhere. They have tried syria, but bravely the Russians stopped this hidious way of taking control by the US.

Still if find it weird to see so many people do exactly believe what certain very controlled 'media' are saying.

Good examples of the US' tactics:
Operation Northwoods
Bay of pigs

There are plenty of recent examples, they are still too crazy unfortunately to post here, as it takes a couple of decades apperantly for the common people to study a certain happening instead of calling things 'a conspiracy' if things become too difficult.

In this matter with the Ukraine, Putin explained, somewhere on youtube, why the Ukraine is such a strategic position to have now for the US. Not only because of the Russian army which is situated there. It really made sense.

Basically Russia has won the the syria crisis, else it would have been invaded by the US as well. Now Suddenly there is a crisis in the Ukraine, let Russia win this as well... I predict nasty things will come if the US is able to go on like this. People in the US already experiencing this... u must be so freaking bullheaded to not see what this is leading too.
A while back, some Eastern Euro types posted here that folks from the West and elsewhere that posted here were pretty much ignorant of the real situation. They were right. So I studied the situation.
One thing I learned that the people that know least of all what's going on ar the Ukrainian/Crimeans themselves. You folks have really lost the plot.
OK... So you had this corrupt dude named Yanukovych and you got rid of him for being a crook. OK good... then you go and select an even bigger crook to tell you how to live. Then there's the Crimeans... They decide they don't want another crook and want to be free and independent to make their own autonomous choices - we think maybe they have some sort of a clue - then they hook up with... Russia. WTF???!!!???

So, what I've learned about the situation in the Ukraine is that it's as F***ed up as a soccer ball bat.

To the brain dead kool aid drinker that posted up above me from the Nether lands:
What do they call people from there anyways? Netherlanders or something?
Anyhow. As an American, I'm tired of being the world's babysitter. I could care less how stupid your country is or isn't, I think Darwinism should be allowed to run its course and let you live or die by the outcome of your own devices. But as usual, you'll just screw things all up and come whining to us for help...AGAIN. Do you know how much higher our standard of living would be if we didn't have to spend a chunk of our tax money keeping you third world countries from making another Hitler or Stalin or Napoleon for yourselves? And they tell us in the commercials that just a dollar a day will make you happy... Gheesh...
I'm just waiting for the EU to tank and we'll just have to borrow that much more money from China to bail y'all out. All the while with little neo marxists burning our flag, hating on us and insulting us while on their way to get a Big Mac. Then calling us on speed dial cause you said something stupid to a muslim and can't back it up.

Do you have any idea how much of my paycheck goes towards supporting your healthcare system when I can't even afford my own?
You know in some countries, we ARE their healthcare system.
When your country becomes overburdened and breaks down, and it's going to, what are you going to do? stand around with your finger in a dike and look stupid? Or call your good ol Uncle Sam for an aid package?
Yeah, your good ol uncle sam. That distant relative you couldn't get rid of fast enough. And like all the other relatives he has, you only call when you need something. After that it's back to him being the trailer trash relative no one sends a Christmas card to. And he'll still hook you up. I know, cause I'll be the one paying for it.
OK enough of the nonsense ... You can take you hands off of your ears and chanting "Bourgeoisie!" now.

Our government is on a course to bankruptcy. It is over reached. The military spending of the last administration and the stupid social progressiveness of the current administration has too high a price tag. Add that up with all the other crap we have to do... well money only goes so far. Everyone is playing with imaginary money. There's no such thing as multiple trillions of dollars. There not enough trees to print that much paper. Yet we ran our deficit that high and other countries, like yours, are doing the same thing. They all delude themselves into thinking as long as everyone plays along, then it's all good, But sooner or later, there's going to be a breakdown. When that day happens, all those back door deals, all those tax incentives all those trade polices we made to try and insure some sort of stability in a world full of nut cases will be gone. But that really won't matter, cause when that day comes, I doubt international trade will be all that anyways.
My advice to you is to start worrying about what your own government is going to do you as precautionary measures, thinking they can ride it out. We won't be there to hold your hand once that time comes.

" I guess the certain interests your country have..." You mean like Shell and making sure their platforms, refineries and boats don't get messed with??
Oh wait... they're a ...Dutch company - right?
Yeah, you know that company has a refinery about 10 miles that's maybe 14-16 kilometers? from where I live. You know the surrounding neighborhood has the highest amount of brain tumors per capita than anywhere on the planet.
.... certain interests OUR country has - huh?
Maybe you shouldn't throw rocks when you live in a glass house.
Dutch.... I saw Adrian Vandenburg in concert once. He was one of the rotating guitar players in Whitesnake.
[QUOTE=The Very End;1847403]So can someone explain to me what is going on with Russia going all XAXAXAXAXAXA on Ukraina? Is it to not lose face? Is it to make sure Ukraina stays out of the European Union or what? What does Russia gain by this other than looking like some stupid asses like... well like ever? The news stations report all kind of strange things, so not sure what to make out of it all, so a brief but detailed explenation of what and why would be apreciated.

Edit: Sorry to the Ukrainas (how you spell an citizen of Ukraina) I offended, it was not aimed at you guys, but at Russia. I hope for the best of you.[/QUOTE
