Quote from Hoellsen :40% of a 6h race are 144min. That makes a good 4 stints in the XRR (taken from experience at Kyoto). I don't see how a 4th stint takes you "far over the 40%".

well, a stint in XRR is more about 40 mins. 40 mins * 4 = 160 mins... Evenif it's only 35 mins, it gets you damn close to 40%. So no variation really possible. Anyway, you do the rules, and we for sure will follow, as long as you say we can discuss here, we'll prolly continue to do and rant

Quote from Hoellsen :The 40% rule stands. It was added to avoid teams having their best driver drive most of the race. We feel this reason is very valid and that OCR's situation should be solved differently than by removing that rule. If it were down to hardware problems or something like that, an exception can most probably be made. But except for the 12h of Kyoto the schedule is know long enough beforehand that teams should be able to get their scheduling and planning done well ahead and therefore they should not run into time problems.

Well, you are right. In the 12 and 24 hours races, it's not that important, as you can shift and move schedules easily.
But take a 6 hours event. If you have only 3 drivers - and that can happen easily - you are actually totally bound to one strategie. Example XRR: max 3 stints per driver. A 4th stint would shoot far over the 40%. For FXR it's even more obvious: 2 hours (about 4 stints) are doable, but not a 5th. That leaves almost no room, to change tactics during race. So everytime, something unforseen happens in RL, you cant really react to that. Sure, you can now argue about having enough guys for the weekend. But for example next race is scheduled together with 2 other events in the LFS world. I see your point in those "dont let one driver drive it all" but as you can read, that's not my intention here

Anyway, if the rules stand, we'll have to accept it, but I guess one or more of the smaller MoE teams will run into trouble at one point here.

Quote from HASTA :I can't participate this challenge, i didn't understand anything about how this competition works But i have a friendly suggestion for you guys. With this welcome messages it must be impossible to concentrate. These welcome messages must be seen only to newcomers like in RaceManager. Just a friendly suggestion.

Quote from P1lot :Yes, this made it awkward to know how we were doing.
It was OK for those that started the race, seemed to happen after a driver change.
For those of us not as good as Vykos that got trapped in the sand (i.e. me), it was necessary to pit and rejoin, where the split-times would show again, until next driver change.

You actually point to the reason of the bug: Cause the times of the cars, when you join a server, are only updated at splittimes and finished laps AND we joined the server right AFTER last split and then tookover car right BEFORE S/F, the times on our client didnt get updated and then we had this resulting prob. Well this could be the reason

We just finished the first weekend tournament with two well known winners: Nils Naujoks and Phil hildebrandt (n1lyn and (wrt)osiris). They are automatically qualified for the offline finals in december now. Congratulations!

And the next tournament is already around the corner with the qualifying weeks just starting in about 30 minutes. This time it's GTi only! So get the hatchback out and Have Fun!

I want to bring up the 40% rule.

For small teams with 3 racers, that might have some unexpected time prob during a race this rule is really hard.
I would suggest that 1 driver might do max 49.9999% and the rest isnt allowed to hit 40%. We really ran into percentage trouble yesterday cause of unplanned interruptions.

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :fast they all are yea, but u forgot the most important thing to win races, the ability to race! arrechee is the best, very fast to get through the pack, agressive but clean, and a damn good overtaker and thinker.

ROFL a leaguewrecker as best racer? Come on senna, you can do better than that Oh, I see, I'm just working to get to not so funny teamlist j/k I go sleeping, night
Driver Change - Times not shown [P/Q version - now fixed]

In the recent 12hours race several teams had the following problem:

Cause there arent enough places for spectators on the server ( ), the new driver joins the server shortly b4 he takes over the car. When he sits in the car, he just sees always when there is a splittime: "Riding with [my own name]". No laptimes are shown in top right corner, no gaps are shown in the positions list. So basically we are blind then.

I dont know why this happened, but it happened to pretty much every team taking part. No matter, if the new driver was already once in the race or not. It seems to have some connection to joining the server during the race...

Quote from Scawen :Just to let you know - i've made a note of this to consider it for the next patch. I haven't looked in the code yet but my first guess is it may be that the fuel load value (that was increasing rapidly during the pit stop) from the original driver, may not have reached the new driver by the time of the changeover. The fuel load gets sent over approximately every 2 seconds during a pit stop, so it's possible that a maximum of 2 seconds worth of fuel isn't sent over. The fuel load is sent over less often during normal driving.

So if that diagnosis is true, then the situation would be worst with the cars that fill up more quickly (like formula cars) and more likely to happen if the changeover is very quick after the end of the pit stop.

As i said, i haven't studied the code yet but this would explain the random nature of the bug and also that most of the fill-up does make it to the new driver (just not quite all of it). The most obvious solution would be to quickly send a fuel update immediately before the "accept changeover" packet.

Just coming from 12 hours race of MoE and we had this bug too. I had on my screen written "83 litres of fuel" in my FXR (which corresponds to 83%). Then we change drivers quickly after pitstop finish and my teamie only has 72% fuel in.

That appeared several times during the race.

Start was very nervous for me, but then I got slowly into rythm, although I'd call my first stints still warming up. After 4.30 hours in the race I went to manage the Racing Challenge and took over at race time 8hrs from seb. 30 or 40 seconds behind faculty, more than a lap behind nic guys
And then I found the endurance feel. Dunno how to describe. I simply got into rythm. sweating like a pig, not able of seeing times, just having Alex Marx and Sebastian in my ear with some infos, I kept pushing and pushing. I "Unlapped" myself to niC pretty soon, and then hunted faculty, getting closer and closer. I actually thought, I'll get 5th in the end, but after 1 and something, in my 3rd stint, I was 3rd :O
still had to pit then and got out as 4th, with some 20 secs back to nic or so... And this last 30minutes... wow... All went so well. I said: Now push push push and I pulled severyl pretty fast times in FXR, just got the hang on this car, and I think, I put some pressure on Frank, cause I was picking up a second each lap

But the feeling in this last stint was just "endurance" Felt so great. Looking forward to next race!
