Quote from krkriv :GT3 Touring Car cup season 3, final round. Win by 0.05s and claiming the title.

Hehe that was a good race!

One of my best memories from that season was the win me and Miro had at that crazy Fern Bay round, was great to have Miro drive one of the best races of his career, I felt so embarrassed that I was slower than him, and he was milking it in TS

I still remember my first league win, in OWRL Div B AS7 FOX, winning by a few seconds from Maunokasa in my first race for spdoRacing at 13 years old. Also, Team Vires' first race, the Masters of Endurance 24h was pretty special, despite everything, and I mean literally everything going wrong in that race it was still great to chase SonicRealms down in the last few stints to take 5th in GT2 class. That race was epic, I was so inexperienced, I crashed with Isaac and Tommy in T1 of a 24h race! Worked my way back up to the top 3 or 4 and then my pc crashed, spent the whole night reinstalling and rebooting whilst Sean, Axel and Lucas gained 30mins back that I lost from my time out, epic stuff and great to be on teamspeak for the whole of that race.

Another great memory that's recent is the final round of GT1WS, where the whole team worked so well to get such a great result, the Am class winning its debut victory in the final round of the season and the Pro class running P1 until our inexperience and exuberance showed itself after GenR had its mishap :P But it was great to see the whole of Vires at its peak, and we'll be looking to return to that in the winter once everyone has stopped partying

Oh, and who can forget the many MANY rolls to my name, I think NEC SO5r UF1 was a highlight, still not sure how exactly I managed to do that!

To be honest, everyone is spewing the same stuff about him only being there because his dad is a Director of one of the Sauber sponsors, which is true, but that doesn't mean he is untalented. At 17 years old, he's holding 8th place in WSR 3.5 which is no mean feat, and has been a champion in Formula Abarth which is a well recognised championship. WSR has more experience and talent in it this year than GP2 in my honest opinion, so, given the fact he is so young, he is definitely a star. Plus the fact he is definitely secure in terms of finance, it will be very interesting to see how he goes next year, and even if he will be fit enough to last in the first races of the season.

If he is quick, expect the lower formula's to become a graveyard, people who can, will simply move straight out of karting into F3 / Gp2 / WSR for 2 seasons rather than working their way up, because what's the point anymore? You may as well be thrown in at the deep end and make your learning curve almost vertical if you can than "waste" several years in the lower feeder series.

On another topic, Lotus are seemingly bemused at rumours of Kimi leaving, in fact Lopez doesn't expect his drive ... to change at all for 2014 which is strange, seeing as a chance to drive in the team that's won the last 3 championships would seem a given. With Sirotkin coming in next year, it also seem's as if Hulkenburg is on the brink, either go to a higher team or will lose a seat in F1 altogether which is a real shame because he is talented for sure. However, will all the money coming in from Russian sponsors, do they really need the Mexican to be paying as well? If I were Sauber I would try keep hold of Hulkenburg for next season as a benchmark and team leader. But, with the Ferrari links, it could be Bianchi who lands the drive, or even someone from GP2 / WSR.

Bianchi is also in the running for a Ferrari seat should Massa lose it, but Di Resta has also emerged as a strong contender, but I definitely feel as if Bianchi is proving himself in that dog of a Marussia to put himself in contention, even if I secretly want Di Resta to land a top drive. Other rumours have suggested Lotus-Renault want an all-French line up for next season should Raikkonen leave, which opens the door for Vergne, Grosjean and Bianchi.

For those that care, Susie Wolff will have a day at the Young Driver Test for Williams alongside Mercedes test driver Juncadella and Maldonado. I'm in two minds about this, because I'm not sexist or against women making it to F1, so long as they get there because they are talented enough, not purely because they are a woman. And in my opinion, Wolff certainly isn't talented enough to get into F1, and certainly behind the likes of Bird, Frijns, Calado, Nasr, Juncadella and Valsecchi. Also strange to see Juncadella there, I thought Mercedes were banned from the test?

Would be great to have some of the old guys back, from all the old teams, #low, SK, F1RST, 3id and so on, but I guess it's just about finding something to motivate a return.

Good points for the championship I guess!

Made a decent start, few mistakes but pushed my luck really with tyre tread and paid the price, but still beat those around me for drivers champ and Vires came a giant step closer to that constructers champ! Hopefully numbers will pick up for next round again like we saw round 1.

Thanks Deko for the event and post race chat

Quote from troy :

Peter Sauber was on Swiss TV on sunday explaining that sallary is still being paid but money for daily operations is drying up quickly, they would have updates for the cars ready in theory but can't afford to produce them. He also mentioned that they're in talks with some big sponsors (rumour is gazprom) and may be able to announce something in the next few weeks.

There's also rumours that Hulk already cancelled his Contract but keeps driving for Sauber because he would have no drive otherwise.

Not looking good.

Yeah I saw a few days ago that he terminated his contract with them because he hasn't been paid for 3 rounds which is pretty bad. Other rumours that Sauber are trying to sell the team but it really doesn't look good.

On the plus side, the new Pirelli's that are being brought to Hungary and onwards are basically last years' tyres, Sauber has already shown they were quick in Hungary with Hulkenburg scoring points so hopefully they can get out of the rut.

Quote from Bmxtwins :Superior equipment my ass. He won a race with Torro Rosso. I don't see any of their current drivers doing that.

Changable conditions throughout qualifying and the race at Monza when he won that race. Bottas qualified 3rd in Canada this year, does that mean he's going to land a Red Bull drive as well?

Besides, the Toro Rosso wasn't that bad, it was capable of top 5 finishes in the dry, which means it is definitely capable of winning a race in the wet with the right circumstances.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :No way that was intentional... Though it's freaking interesting that it ALWAYS happens with Webbo.

As soon as he came in you knew something was going to happen to him in the pitstop. His inlap was sensational, there was a good chance he would have jumped Vettel. I'm not saying they deliberately put 3 wheels on his wagon but it's not past RBR to do that to a driver. Especially a driver on his way out of F1 and RBR. Like you said, faultless for Vettel, mistakes on the team's side always happen to Webber, seems legit. It's almost like RBR know they can force Webber down the pack, and that in his form he will battle back into a good number of points whilst their golden boy wins. Another idea would be on a commercial side, how vital would it be for Vettel to win on home soil? Something which he's never done? Pretty vital I would say.

Raikkonen quoted post race as saying he could have made the tyres last to the finish. Really sad to see that, because that's another potentially race winning scenario scuppered by the Lotus team, think back to Silverstone only a week ago, not bringing him in under the SC. I'm pretty sure Kimi will be on the move, he wants to win, and Lotus seem too inconsistent to grant that.

F1 does not look a very safe place right now in the last couple of rounds. Safety needs to be reviewed to be honest, hope the camera guy is alright, taken to hospital in a 'critical condition' apparently.

On topic, expect another charge from Webber, and Rosberg totally ruined Hamilton's race.

Commercially it would make sense for Red Bull to replace an Aussie with an Aussie, especially as Australia is one of their largest markets, just think of all the Australian athletes they support. However, on a performance basis, I would still say that Ricciardo will only get the job if Raikkonen turns it down, but that's my opinion of course

Meanwhile, Silverstone effectively telling Pirelli to fk off after acusations the curbs were causing blow outs. If that's the case why are Pirelli switching to development rear tyres in Germany and 2012 spec tyres in Hungary. Something is pretty broken with Pirelli and its just going further and further down hill.
