heh... very detailed description Anathema... Indeed is kinda that way, example from the last screen with the BMW, first, i overexpose a bit the whole screenshot, then cutout the car from it.Then i placed 3 stages of Lens blur depending on the distance of the scenario in the background with a smooth transition. That´s for the depth effect. The car would look misplaced since it would "overstandout" from the entire picture, that´s because when you take a picture that way, it´s hard to get the whole car in focus, and perfect pictures aren´t good looking for screenshots. I duplicate the layer from the car then i apply heavy overexpose over it, then heavy gaussian blur, change layer to hard light, then adjust transparency. That´ll result in the "bloom" effect of the car. The visible layer of the car gets a very slight zoom blur to off focus some part sof the car, then the picture is done with a "beautiful summer day" effect.
thanks for the feedback, it´s always good to know that your work is appreciated. Checkout my gallery here http://www.vf1.cl/gallery/gallery.htm, if you see any unreleased car that you like, feel free to ask and i´ll haste it´s release... they are just unpackaged so it´s real easy.

I´ll be releasing Christian Cornejo´s FOX tomorrow, it´s a nice blue paintjob based on his real Formula 3... hope you guys like it too.
Patricio Achondo is one of the most talented racers in our club, with experience in pro-karting, he wanted an adaptation of the 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL racing car. The BMW M Fox 2007 was dressed with the most advanced tecniques of german engineering... it is white, with stripes, and with a number in the side. Extremely simple, yet it embodies the soul of the classic BMW that once raced in the track. The car goes the best with cromo tyres, and hope you guys enjoy it.
The package contains both 512 and 2048 versions of the skin, along with settings for wheel colors, choose according to your pc capabilities. Skin is available at lfsworld for online usage.
This is actually the second skin i made for the FOX when i was learning how to do so..., Basically, Tomas Cintolesi wanted an adaptation of an old Brabham with custom sponsors. Although the car is very simple, and it might go out as just a car with stickers, it stands out whenever it´s in the track, it has a unique presence that won´t let it go without catching your eye. The Fox IPSD 2006 won´t be driven anymore by Tomas Cintolesi, since he changed sponsors... it looks the best with cromo tyres and hope you guys enjoy it.

read the instalation instructions of the package... the format is in dds. I do this because LFS will downsize my 2048 jpegs to 1024x1024 while converting to dds... and that's what i don't want. Although, for lfsworlds you need a 1024 jpg (wich i don't include into the package because of the following reason, wich i specially resize, and compress to upload to lfsworld.
Skins that i release are available in lfsworld without the need to upload your own, because i do so when i post them...
if you follow the instalation instructions (wich is choosing either the 512 or 2048 file then extracting to your lfs main dir), when you select the FOX while playing online, people will be able to view your skin.
meaning you don't need the jpg to upload to lfsworld because it's already there.
BTW.. i'll be posting 2 versions of an old custom sponsoder IPSD Brabham, plus the redesigned one sponsored by Smoking shortly..., heh.. got tons of FOX to post yet.
almost forgot about that... already uploaded an updated version of the car (with proper suspension holes, not circles...), so if you want to use the skin online, now it's available...
i updated the zip in the previous post with the latest version if you want to have the new suspension holes.
Continuing our custom paintjobs for the FOX... hope to hear more comments good and bad please.
Alberto Lyon is a well known Trackday man here in our country... holding 2nd place in one of the most popular (and almost only accesible one) track in our country. He drives a Mitsubishi EVO IX wich he loves since he's a real fan of 4x4 japanese sports cars, and his fanatism for The Mclaren F1 Team drove him to create his ultimate machine... The Mclaren-Mitsubishi 2007 FOX... a car that doesn't go unnoticed because of it's aggresive, yet elegant look.
The package contains both 512 and 2048 versions of the skin, along with settings for wheel colors, choose according to your pc capabilities. Skin is available at lfsworld for online usage.
awesome skin justinziarko, very nice concept and colors... i like the flow of the whole paint job... very distinctive. although there are some decals that overlap some lines in the 3d model like the ATL on top and the number in the nose, unless it's done on prupose, it hinders the attention to detail in the whole car. Also the cromo on the front wings is way too big for my taste... A great job anyways, very nice detail the transition from the yellow to the dark blue, gotta check that out ...
I'll be publishing some of our custom skins, hope you guys like them, id' like to hear good and bad comments... it helps the design process of new paintjobs.
This one was inspired on a real TC2000 that runs in our country, driven by Francisco Rodriguez, a tc2000 pilot. It's called "Citroen Calypso 2007", since Calypso Maquinaria it's the company owned by Francisco Rodriguez family. The whole concept started as the TC2000 Citroen AX tried to mimic the Citroen Total Rally car, resulting a red with stickers car, i worked out a little bit the concept since i don't like the stickers only car, and it turned out quite well...
The package contains both 512 and 2048 versions of the skin, along with settings for wheel colors, choose according to your pc capabilities
hehe... looks like mike need some reading classes.. i said UNIQUE features...
EVERY other game has real tracks
EVERY other game has real cars
A LOT of games have the SAME physics engine
FEW games have a realistic tyre simulation model
at least 2 games have day-night cycle
damn.. please pay attention to what i say... UNIQUE means that no other simulator or game has...
i forgot the progessive graphic deformation model for damage too but i think forza2 has something like that now
speaking seriously... i might be able to hace access thru some contacts i have to allow development of a gillet vertigo, the father of one of our business partners is involved in the development of the belgian car...
that means schematics, blueprints and a lot of the stuff necesary to bring up a car into LFS
i agree that the game in the actual stage of development doesn´t need a subscription model...
but man... LFS is THE best racing simulator, although i´ve never played NetKar Pro... but damn... no features? are you really a licensed racer? LFS has features that NO OTHER GAME has... please.. tell me of some other game that has unique features like this one.., for example tyre deformation and propietary tyre grip model...
up till now the only game i know that has unique characteristics is GTR2, animated 3d Crew for the trackside for example.. i don´t know about the physics acurracy when it´s raining...but it´s a feat to have rain in the game...
btw... is NetKar Pro worth trying?... i´ve always had the curiosity of trying it and i´ve heard it´s madness...
i'm not convinced that they "need" the extra funds... i'm convinced that they "could" use the extra funds...
the development of this game has been really smooth since s1... paced yet really fast, and i think there might have been lot of ideas hindered by the lack of funds... skipped really fast just because they are not viable or essencial...
the most close example is the bandwith usage for the high res skins... everyone want's high res skins but traffic costs money, and i'm sure that's not the only thing that it's requiring constant income...
in another post where people is annoyed at skin thiefs... a solution could be that the player tags his skin as private, so when another player downloads them, it downloads to the memory of the computer, not to the harddrive... but that increases bandwith... wich increases costs... just an example.
i really feel sad for the lack of trust and faith that some of those who have posted here have towarards the developers... i don't know what kind of people are you used to Thunderhead... but i think the developers of this game are NOT that kind...
then... let me at least ask for an optional subscription for those who feel gratitude towards the game developers...
and yes... i would like this discussion to be closed..
people tend to think that because you are demo racer you can't have a great idea....
my display name is weird, because that's one of my registered accounts.. .my nickname is registered as demo user and i can't post here because of everyone who ignores or even insults demo racers.
i'd appreciate that anyone who wants to give an oppinion here, to read at least half of the posts...
people here seem to understand that if you don't pay you won't play...
S1 users can prove that the impact of S2 was nothing but improvements and wonders... and to the few ones who decided not to upgrade their S1 account to S2, still are enjoying the benefits of the s2 developments... what's wrong with that?
everyone would be able to play as they are doing right now... why everyone is complaining and saying that they will quit the game... why would you quit a game that you payed for, and that still recieves constant improvements? i would like someone to answer me this.
very true... but i don't know if the traffic would increase that much... remember all the people that flushes constantly their skins directory, along with clean installs... the traffic will be affected slightly...
stepping the costs aside, i think it's the most viable solution, because of it's end user simplicity, yet, there is still people that belives that the LFS project won't do better with more funding.. :\
here is something i just realized by answering to a PM just a while ago...
imagine that S1 and S2 licenses might be able to be released as Free for everyone to download, just thanks to those who can spend 2 or 3 miserable pounds a month, that's possible with a predictable and steady income... come on guys.. that's pocket money for anyone who can afford a computer and an internet connection... internet uplink you can pay yes... but why not LFS? what's your internet bill? is it somewhere near 3 pounds? or should i add an extra 0?
You can buy a package... and pay £25 a year with discounts i don't know, if you managed to get a credit card to buy the game, why can't you now for something like this?... i personally don't have a CC, and i had to ask my girlfriend, almost everyone has some way to get it...
the main problem here is that EVERYONE wants everything free... and that's just not right... just lookout for cracks for S2... atrocious
i think a simple solution for this should be server side...
in lfsworld skins can go along with a flag to set the skin to private....
if the skin is private, the game downloads the skin directly to the memory, not to the hard drive, when you leave the race, the memory resets, problem solved, really easy from a certain point of view...
it might be a pain to code it that way, i don't know.
i forgot to add... if for some reason the reciever has a really low end computer, a friendly message should appear:
ooh i have a problem like that... i think it's related to videocard overclocking i think... but it happens to me even when the VC is running stock...
2 or 3 seconds from starting a race, or loading a replay, the game freezes along with the audio for 2 to 3 seconds, then return to normal... this would happen everytime i switch tracks or when i return to the main screen
whaaa, that's really nostalgic... the nazca reminded me of the early need for speeds... i think it was the Road&Track Need for Speed that came with the Nazca.
the three wheeler looks great... but i still favor my new decision... high powered compact 4x4 rally cars.
