Well, like Bob, I left it till 10 minutes before Qualifying to start practicing for the track

Qualy was not great for me, but Race 1 started off surprisingly well considering. Think I was running in 6th or something until my lack of practice really showed and started having offs a bit too often - Then I managed to roll it, and try to reset the car...and in doing so tried to recover to pits and ended up taking you-know-who out of the race (and subsequent championship) - Which, looking back on now I probably should have just gone to spectate and maybe could have avoided some nastiness - I dont know

Anyway, Race 2 went great for me, after my little practice race
Started 13th and just kept my nose clean, drove smooth and was fortunate that drivers in front spun off. I did think about chasing Mauni at one point, but saw sense And from lap 15 onwards kept a keen eye on Kamo, just to make sure he was not going to catch up

@Jatko

OK the good news is that you are fairly close to your exchange (less then a mile, which is excellent ) and should mean that you have a fairly good line !

The bad news no 1 is that 1063 kb downstream on a 2mb line is NOT so good....and of course bad news no 2 is you are with Tiscali.

OK Something to check and report back... ADSL filters do not require screwdrivers !! - they are basically small white (mostly) boxes that plug into your main BT socket, then you plug your phone and router/modem into the other end !!

Make sure you are using one and if you have a spare try that one too - also check the other BT sockets around the house, do you have any? are they being used? try unplugging everything and just use the main socket on its own for a while..

PS Did I mention Tiscali already ? - Nah, seriously they are an OK provider, but certain times of the day they introduce their network shaping (shagging :razz systems which (IMO) can interfere with LFS.. and other gaming.

Glad its working OK at the moment, and I hope this can improve it further
Connection Issues

Hi J@tko

Well, if it is your connection that is quite an easy thing to diagnose and improve upon if necessary, if you are using ADSL (I assume?)

Here is a simple guide to improving your connection inside you house.
http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php

If you are using wireless, try to use a wired connection instead.

Check what speed your connection is capable of (and the ping) using this website
www.speedtest.net

Try replacing your ADSL filters.

Check the distance from your house to the telephone exchange using this website
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/
"Click on Exchange Search"

Also check the Noise level on your line (this is shown on most routers config page!), particularly if you are some distance from the exchange.

If all else fails, do a google search for your ISP to see if other people are experiencing similar problems..... It could be your ISP throttling ports at different times of the day for example.

I am by no means an expert on these matters, but I have suffered at the hands of 2 ISP's which caused similar problems to yourself and experienced some difficulty with my 'in-house' connections too

But after a lot of troubleshooting, and arguing with ISP;s etc... I now have quite a decent connection

Quote from welshys90 :i feel i would get one off 500 servers, although the only problem is would i have to learn a new coding language or am i able to click buttons and basically have it done for me so to speak i do know some computing languages but not any in great detail cheers.!

No mate, if you choose 500 servers, you get a Web-based interface to setup your server which is quite easy to use...

The only 'programming' so-to-speak is a simple text file (cfg) which allows you to change things....for example

Quote from setup.cfg :
cars=FOX
track=AS1
wind=no
laps=10
mustpit=yes

So above, would setup 10 laps as Aston Cadet in the FOX, with no wind and a forced pitstop
All this is editable on the web-interface and a default config file is already stored for you

One thing to note about the reset, it will not let you reset if it will cause a yellow flag, but if you keep trying it will let you eventually.

Thx for the update Dan, I didnt know that

Guess I will see you all on the 8th then

Well, it was good for me, but TBH I messed up my pre-race training a little bit because of the test patch, I been driving for too much FBM

This meant I did absolutely zero training, and did not use a suitable set and I was late for the lottery of the qualifying session which saw me starting 14th for Race 1

Early hiccups in the race saw me go to 20th or something but pulled back nicely into 9th(!) I think - Can't remember........

Anyways all my hard work was to be undone on the last turn when I flipped my car onto it's side and the rest button would not work

Nobodys fault but my own, thx for hosting I will be back for the next one stronger and fresher and not trying to arrive at my house at 7:25 with Sausage&Chips in hand trying to qualify by 7:45 lol

BTW is the next race the week after next (Next tuesday being Christmas and all !) ?

May not be the PSU

Could be a number of things

1) Firstly, try resetting the BIOS by either A) Removing the battery from the Mainboard for 1 minute or B) using the Jumper on the motherboard...(your motherboard manual wil show you where it is)

2) Try removing a stick of RAM and try 1 stick on its own, then try the other stick on its own..

3) You already tried removing a Graphics Card...did u try both on their own?

4) Try reseating the CPU (Make sure you use correct amount of thermal paste between CPU and Heatsink) and check CPU fan is working correctly/clear of dust etc...

Report back after that !!

I dont want to scare you, but I had similiar problems to you (lagging, freezing etc..) with an AMD3200+ CPU system and it turned out to be a damaged CPU

Nice System ;-) - strange you can only run 2gb Ram with your PSU.. thought 700w would be ample ! - I have 770W PSU and running 4gb of exact same ram only on an Intel based system

EDIT: Have you tried updating the BIOS? Or even thought about upgrading to Vista...I remember some people having issues when trying to use 4gb before and were affected by this. - Might be worth ruling out before you spend out on a new PSU
