You've never needed to lock LFS to go on demo servers.. There's an option before the "list multiplayer servers" to select what mode you want to look at..
That's what I tell my clients Sadly it's not computer orientated, so I'm slightly out of my depth I fear
Meh, it's not too much of a problem, as long as it's not the actual cabling that's busted (although I don't see how. In which case it's a job too big for me). It's just annoying though Don't exactly want waking up at some ridiculous hour because your sister can't have a shower
Totally off-topic, but I know we've got a few people here who are a dab hand with the DIY, and a fair few pros.
About 6 months ago the isolation switch for the shower, in the bathroom, went and I replaced it no problem. However this morning it appears as if we're getting no power to switch. The breaker hasn't tripped, so I'm guessing that the switch is screwed.
However I'm not 100% sure whether or not there's a replacable fuse in it, or not. Last time I took one apart to look at was some time ago and it never did go back together properly (figured something sprang out and it wasn't retreived).
Assuming it's not got anything replacable in it, I assume the option is to again replace the bloodly thing? Or does anyone have any possible suggestions as to what else may have caused this, if it's not the switch?
The community can't resolve this for you. The only people who can are those who run the server from which you were banned. The only course of action is to approach them.
I appreciate that you wanted some sort of sensible discussion, but the fact of the matter is that it's been discussed. Many, many times over. The argument always ends up with two sides;
Admins can do what they like. It's their server.
Admins should be more responsible.
More often than not a mod has to close the thread when something like this comes up. Originally I'd merge it into "I got banned" thread, but I have the feeling this will just upset you, and quite frankly I can't be bothered with that agro this morning.
Take which ever side you want, however you must understand that anyone can run a server. The developers have little control of them (they can be removed or restarted, but that's about it to my knowledge), and there are currently no officially run servers.
So yes, you can try and appeal to server admins to be more respectful, but at the end of the day some people are just bastards.
I think you might be confusing javascript and java. However, on the off chance you did actually mean Java, you need to write some Java to query LFSW via the pubstats. This thread details the various formats that LFSW pubstats can output. You then write java to parse this.
It cannot be done in pure javascript without some server side stuff behind it. Either someone will need to write one for you and host it, or you'll need to get access to a host where you can run server side scripting. Or you'll have to rely on the buttons provided by the LFS team, which show whether or not a user is online, and can be integrated straight into a static HTML based page.
However, if you don't understand HTML, even the basics of it, you're going to struggle and I'd suggest getting someone to help you.
No documentation for the protocols (excluding InSim/OutSim/Outguage - which you can use for communicating with LFS and are relatively stable), I'm afraid (part of the reason is that this would allow Scawen to change it as he needs to, which is reasonable, I guess).
If you want the client <-> server protocol, you can find out quite a bit by packeting sniffing. How far you want to go is up to you though
docs/Commands.txt contains the dedi commands as well as the regular ones, if that's what you're after. I'm not sure I'd consider anything in the LFS docs directory a whitepaper though
Without trying to be rude to anyone, I tend to distrust anyone and everyone Occams razor is a good rule to live by, and like House I tend to think everyone's an idiot until proven otherwise
Unless the monitor is a TFT and isn't running at it's native resolution (i.e. usually the max for that monitor). When that situation occurs you can get a fussy screen. Check the monitor's native res. and ensure you're running at it. If you can't select that resolution, you may need some driver updates, etc.
Denied for the simple reason that would give grounds to anyone arguing that the community would be capable of teaching people about programming in general. With it being small, very specific requests here you can argue not, and so requests are allowed. Completely trivial requests from this point will be moved or closed pointing people at where they can find the answer i.e. "what's an if statement omgwtfz!" will result in a closed thread, pointing at google. Things like Ian.H's MD5 tool will be moved to off topic.
If you want to post on a purely programming forum, which you apparently do, go and find one. At the end of the day this is a LFS related forum, so things should be mostly about LFS.
