The most exciting piece of information that underlies the fact that there is apparently going to be an F1 car is the fact that they must have gotten the tires to behave quite nicely to have the guts to include such a ridiculously powerful car! Can't wait to feel the cars stick to the road!
I think passengeres should ragdoll inside the cabin after an exceptionally harsh accident. Then if you are in a soft top, the driver and passengers would get tossed out only to be run over by oncoming racers. Oh and with the ragdoll patch should come blood and dismemberment as well!! Oh the torture that would ensue!
Well the devs are the ones who put the freaking ramps in the game in the first place. Obviously they are there for a bit of fun and little else. So, since they are already in, why NOT have them on the rest of the tracks and not just a select few?
But seriously, I do see your point. If I was promised a great product, and gave them enough benefit of the doubt that because they were taking pre-orders, that the game was up to par, I would be upset too! But what's done is done, and Kunos is refunding money all over the place (apparently), which is a good start to correcting the team's mistakes; although the situation is sort of unforgivable. And yes, you can try before you buy, because that's what I'm doing.
Good lord this thread and forum have gotten out of hand. I think so many people are so attached to LFS that they will beat the tar out of anything that is or has the possibility to become a threat! Come on people, at least realize that competition makes for better sims for all of us. NetKar is buggy at the moment and it can be said that it should not have been released in such a form, but like many, I see the potential, and I have been having my fun with it. I guess I just don't see the point of tearing this game to shreds when it's just another driving sim that can be enjoyed. Afterall, isn't the act of driving and racing what we all like to do?....then JUST DRIVE!
PS: I realize the frustrations with paying for a product that you thought would be vastly different. But on the bright side, Kunos is being very supportive and understanding. The game will be patched and tweaked in the coming weeks and months. But let this be a lesson. If there is a demo, always try before you buy!
Well seeing as how nkPRO was released as a 1.0 version along with all the fancy marketing they used which insinuated (at least to me) that they would be delivering a polished product, it was quite disappointing to see that it looks to be an early Alpha.
I've felt understeer in the form of the tire hopping along the track by use of pulsating vibrations. It was a nice effect, but the problem is it seems to work sometimes, and other times I get no feeling whatsoever.
I like it! Very challenging, and it gives you tunnel vision after a while because of the super tight space! Great practice for eluding cops down alleys, which I'm sort of rusty on. Haha
And even though it's really tight, you can pretty much use any car on it with the right setup. 110+ mph in the F08 down the corridors can get a little crazy, let me tell ya.
Ok, look at the wheel, now look to the left of it and you will see a vertical row of three switches. Flip the top-most one. Then press and hold the second one until the engine starts.
GOOD
1. Nice force feedback. Understeer feels like understeer! (Just realized I only feel understeer some of the time..weird)
2. I felt pretty in-tune with the car as far as traction goes.
3. Wheel tethers are kinda cool.
4. I believe you can get dirt on your visor...at least I think that's the effect trying to be achieved.
BAD
1. Engine sounds like a bad LFS impression. Feels like redline is at 5K or something. Unable to get a sense of the tenacity of these kinds of cars.
2. Tire sounds are extremely bland. They tell you almost nothing.
3. Clutch takes forever to engage with autoclutch even when clutch speed is max. It feels very clunky.
4. Interface almost identical to Namie. Not very intuitive or nice to look at.
5. I managed to lock up the game by hitting a wall, flying 1000 feet in the air, and dropping through the ground (game froze right after I went into the ground).
That would be neat. Just need a disclaimer that says not to pay mind to any physics abnormalities above the set speed.
But with the correct setup, I notice that speed increases exponentially at an insane rate once you get up near the limit. If the limit were taken away I can't imagine how mind bogglingly fast you could go. Enticing!
I actually left the HUD on because that's the only way the cones are highlighted. Without it, you wouldn't be able to see the course outline like that!
I see what you are getting at. I think it has something to do with the fact that, like has been said, the absence of environmental features being reflected. It seemed like the car was reflecting black and blue and that's it. It just felt a little unnatural to look at in my opinion.
Also, I noticed this only with black (or dark) cars, but with other colors and especially with skinned cars the effect is great. So I say great work for your first release and I hope our suggestions can make it even better!
