All these false, made-up conclusions..
Not too long ago, a thread showed up with people complaining about the lack of progress reports, not knowing what the devs are doing, and yet so many people can make up that lfs is a serious company rather than a hobby. Seriously, where do you get all this from? It's based on nothing. This whole discussion is based on made-up conclusions. ''Eric has only made 1 car and a track as new S3 content.'' Seriously, where do you people get all this information from? Scawen said Eric has been working on S3 content, does that immediately mean it's just the Scirocco and Rockingham? He might have been working on new interiors, and 5 new models, who knows? Ofcourse one of the risks of the devs not keeping the users updated, is what is happening now, blatant speculation by the users.
None of the devs ever confirmed these points. If so, and I've missed it, fair enough, but post a damn link to prove your point. It's like people just discuss to have something to do on these forums, no wonder the general LFS Discussion forum is full of nonsense.

As for the OP; time to leave LFS be for you and play something else. Come back when an update comes to find out if it's sufficient for you.
I sure as hell know it'll be for me, assuming the tire physics have dramatically changed, driving the cars will be a whole new learning experience, which is fun in my point of view. Heck, I'll still enjoy LFS for what it is at this moment.

KICK!
TEFAF 2011
The European Fine Art Fair is back in Maastricht, meaning a lot of rich people will come to Maastricht for their pots & pans. Reason enough for me to go check it out!

That's it for now, might go back once more to take some more pics.

Quote from dadge :getting angry to a call centre agent will have the opposite affect you are looking for. be polite, helpful and understanding. those 3 attributes will actually reduce the amount of time you're on hold, will reduce the overall call length, will also have the outcome you're expecting.
try to control the call (the person asking the questions is the person controlling the direction of the conversation). once you stop asking questions, you've lost control of the call.

Yeah quite true, though I've worked at a callcenter for a couple of months, you'd think I'd know right?
The stories I've heard there though, is that eventually.. if you were to get really angry on the phone if the company wasn't going to give you what you want from them, they'd be more likely to give in and give you what you want eventually.
The call center I worked at had time limits in which you had to handle each call. Having an angry customer (properly angry) can really bring those times up. Long call times = an angry boss = the risk of getting fired. Needless to say I handled these kinda conversations this way aswell for a few times to prevent having to go ''on a little chat'' with someone higher up. (Probably because I knew I was gonna quit in the very near future anyway. never work at a callcenter, be warned).
My point is, I didn't describe it right in the last post.. if you weren't to get what you want when you call a helpdesk, getting angry will most likely enhance the chance you'll get what you want. Starting angry is never a good thing as you said, formulated that wrong.

Last time I called Logitech support to replace my G25, seemed like it was the guy's first day at a helpdesk. Poor guy didn't know what to say, and I was being nice against him.

Interesting, maybe it's time for an angry call to Logitech then?
Having the same knocking, or rather clunking issue with my G27, in the right direction aswell. Plus it's already starting to make other strange noises.

Quote from IlGuercio :Nah, there's much more.
Some people think this place is theirs (thanks to the lack of partecipation by of the devs) and no new users can state their opinion.
It's a bit like an exclusive club with a very light entry fee but it makes you feel like you've got the absolute wisdom.
New racers? No way, they'll surely act like crashers and grammarrapers.
Game development questions? You better think about that twice, boy.
Cool

You're so right, in both those posts. Exactly the way it goes here, unfortunately.

On topic: what I've started with, is basically the standard hard track and Race_S setups. Slightly adjusting them as I go.
The problem I see with using track-based setups, like on setupgrid, is that they're all quite different, which still gives you a different feeling of the car with every setup you use.

I've always preferred using the standard race_s and hard track setups whenever I needed to get used to a car, and slightly modify them myself to the track i use it on. In my opinion, that's the best way to get started.
Accordingly, whenever you have the feeling you can control the car properly, you can move onto setups on setupgrid.

Anyway, that's just the way I started and was comfortable with.. might not apply for you though. Atleast you're already tinkering with sets, so you're willing to learn. Smile

Quote from Bigbob1993 :Ban users by IP now when almost no one has public IP and most of internet users are put behind NAT with dynamic IP? Please no.

Even better, MAC adress bans. Seen it being possible in other games, so why not?
Ofcourse, also changeable, but harder to do so.

Ast the title says, it's about the business of slavery, using russian girls as a subject here. Horrible topic, but a great film.. IMO.

Quote from dadge :if you get the proof of purchase, Logitech will look after the rest. if you paid by credit card, a bank statement could show the purchase.

Well what do you know, no questions asked indeed, getting a G27 for free as soon as they're in stock!
Don't even have to send the G25 back or something, receiving the track and trace as soon as one's available. Wow, talk 'bout service.

Quote from dadge :Logitech customer support is second to none. their very helpful and in most cases, they will offer you some kind of deal. like money off a G27. i've never heard of them asking for a product to be sent back so they can repair it.
give them a call. you might be surprised. explain the G25 was a replacement for the thrustmaster. and that might help your cause.

Actually I just called, conversation was over pretty quickly. Explained the problem, also made up a second problem with the wheel concerning a ffb issue.
He hardly asked anything, worryingly.. just what the problem was, which games it was in and if I've tried anything to solve it.
Hardly had to explain anything for him to state that it is a problem concerning the wheel. Alright, great.
He almost immediately sent an e-mail in which I needed to add the proof of purchase, and he did indeed say: ''So we can replace it, send a new one to you.''
Also added that they have indeed stopped making the G25, so if it'd get replaced, it would be the G27. Couldn't say anything about possible costs yet though.
I'm just going to add to the e-mail that we've tried contacting the bankrupt online store etc. etc. And that's why it took so long, hence it's just out of warranty now.
Anyway, guess it's time to make up that story and see if I can indeed get it replaced without too much of a hassle.
