That's quite a feat you're asking Big grin

Remember that you can always ask people for a set. They might not give their very best one if it's private but I'm pretty sure you can always get an average setup from someone Smile. I personally almost always share my sets.

I have faith that this will not be my first and last finished race here. I'll do what I can to participate more often, especially next week because UFR Heart.

Guys I had a wild off topic thought. When the SO update hits us, what do you think will happen to that "secret track" which isn't finished? I'm wondering how will it look after the update? Will it be updated properly or just the basic stuff to support the shadows? I'm interested!

I know it would probably take quite a while to properly do that part of the track but who knows what Eric has been doing, maybe he did update it some time ago for example? Who knows!

Quote from DataFi :IF i remember right the VW is waiting for the new tire physics.

You remember correctly.

Next week (RTFRXL) as in today? The calendar says it's on 20th.

E: oops, my bad. I see it's been postponed to 27th Smile.

To me 18-19 would be OK-ish but yeah a bit earlier would be better as well Smile.

This is a complete speculation but I really don't think that Eric has forgotten cars. I think he's just not talking about them and as Flotch mentioned he's just waiting for the new tyre physics (knowing that Eric is developing only on the new tyre physics, there's a quote from him). I believe he's actually been developing new ones from time to time but there was no need to talk about them because he doesn't know when exactly they'll be released.

I feel the need to repeat myself that this is purely a speculation Big grin

The track looks awesome! That extra connection in the middle of the track will open more possibilities with open layouts, great!

Though I have the same opinion as many of us - that nearly 180° corner was converted into 2 (probably) 90° ordinary corners. I was wondering why was such a decision made. Maybe it's possible to get the idea from Eric why it was made that way? I do understand that this is Eric's work so he's free to do it however he likes and I respect him for the work he puts in. That would be my only question. Thanks!

It's funny how Jatimc is complaining about the development of LFS but doesn't read Scawen's posts... He has said that he does want to finish the tyre physics and (IIRC) it's possible that the new tyre physics will come out with this graphical update.
Quote from Scawen :I need to finish up on the lighting and shadows so I can get to sort out the tyre physics and get that to a releasable state if at all possible. I can't bear the thought of trying to merge the current changes you see in the development version, into the public version. I want to get past that point where there are two branches and I want LFS back on the right track again.

Again, this is not a promise that the physics will go out with the patch, it's just that he is doing his best to get it to a releasable state.

Could be, I'm not sure. It's not exactly free either - you have to pay to enter.
In any case it doesn't say anywhere that they are using LFS.

Yeah I know about the terms of commercial use so I did inform the devs when I saw that in the summer Smile.

Quote from Cutie pie :Does "LFS in museums" count? Smile

Found this in Automuseum Prototyp Hamburg

Funny thing! I was there ~2 months ago! The car was underpowered XFG (to simulate an old car) with 4 gears. It had custom pedals (sadly no clutch) and a custom all metal clunky H shifter. It was quite fun.

The sad part was that the LFS there is quite old (check the minimap) and worst of all - they didn't say that it's LFS anywhere Frown!

I believe this thread would become a spam thread if everyone replied to that. I'm not helping it as I'm checking it everyday as well Big grin

It seems that many of you missed the point of the post. He does agree with you all that VOB mods that change the hitbox are not good for the community. He specifically said that it would be good to have a hitbox-check software or website where it could check and approve/disapprove mods. With that you wouldn't have the problem of weird collisions because of VOB mods.

I do agree that it's not a priority at all now. I don't think it's a good time to bring this up, Scawen needs to finish with the graphical update and hopefully with the tyre physics as well. After that and after getting the highest priority plans from the "to do" list it would be a good idea to have a discussion about this. Right now it's quite pointless I think.

In the end I do agree with TwinySkyline's idea about the website check. It would let people use their imagination and what's the problem if they have a car that THEY like without affecting anyone else? It's not like they force their car to be rendered on your screen. Saying that VOB modded cars are shit is a very stupid argument. They might be shit to you but who are you to judge other people's taste?

Quote from ShannonN :Reading about users liking alternative powered cars. We once had the raceabout a turbo petrol concept turned production this was never updated or followed up on. The last incarnation was indeed electric and capable of 140 + mph at Nürburgring.

Only Scawen knows why the LFS team did not update this car and the other "real life" cars to their latest incarnations.

Like I always wonder when the tyre physic updates etc are totally complete and we get the long awaited Scirocco, it will be discontinued. so are we going to get a vintage 10 year old Scirocco or the latest equivalent VW roadcar?

The team seems very vague and unclear on this question

I don't think Scawen can update the real life cars. I believe he has the license to recreate only that specific (2008?) Scirocco, that specific RaceAbout and so on.

Quote from Flotch :And as you suggest, do not hesitate to go onto some progress report thread existing, or create your own, to share whatever you feel interesting ^^

To add to this - if you don't want people to start spamming under a post(s) you create about progress, a great idea would be a locked thread where only you (devs overall) could post. I'm pretty sure the majority would be very thrilled to read some insights even if they are very minor Hug
